Upon further review it is the borg.

I took off a big fan leave that had the most white spots and I placed it under a very- bright light, then I steadied up the 40x magnifier and got in close and I could those little translucent eight legged bastards running around on the bottoms of the leaf.

Now I haven't had mites for years, maybe decades, and the discernible change was the mulch, so I figure that is how the mites got in. So much for trying something new.

Well anyways, now I'm going to go soap their asses.

a light alcohol and peroxide solution will knock down the first wave every leaf top and bottom . then some type of systematic to zap the new hatchlings , only one ive used is azamax. they seem like it has gotten pretty bad so I would start a daily spraying of all plants and make sure its not to dry in the cab as that's there breeding enviorment . also be sure to rotate the pesticides you use because they can build up an immunity to them if used exclusively. also a good soil drench with the azamax will do the plants some good , as far as building an internal barrier for those lil bastards. if you do soil drench be sure not to flush out the pots the next couple of watering as that can rinse out the chemicals and they'll be useless .:2cents:

So anyways, back to the project...

I have the mites under control, but they did a lot of damage for the short time they were there, it was about 3 days before I noticed them. I had to partially defoliate, this is something I seldom do, pretty much I don't remove leaves unless they are clearly detrimental to other plants around them.

So, to find out the effects of defoliation or even partial defoliation I searched this forum. I found a ton of threads, most ended up being some sort of pissing match, the pro verses con debate and all.

Hempfield is currently doing a side by side comparison, it's a good read, plenty of information.
https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?threadid=285930

In searching and reading I found a whole bunch of different opinions, and several different pruning schedules, it's kinda confusing.

I guess I'm old school because I don't like to defoliate unless I have to, particularly during flower, the exception would be topping or fimming during veg. Now I have to wait and hope for a recovery. They are ugly as shit right now, I'm a little bummed out, I had such high hopes for the project, I was careful and vigilant and I had them fluffed up so nice and now they look like they got raped by Godzilla on Viagra.

Photos again once I get the heart to show my fuck up, maybe a day or two or three.

Warning to those who are thinking about top dressing, don't try using generic mulch, opt for the pasteurized stuff, be it wood mulch or whatever. My next top dress experiment will be using rockwool or flock or coconut husk.

Any experts on defoliated plants?

I just got destroyed by the borg. In just 3-4 days they defoliated all of my plants.

I've killed the borg but they killed me.

What can I expect from defoliated plants 2 weeks into flower? And I mean defoliated. Every fan leaf destroyed. The only thing left are little tiny developing bud sites.

Should I just scrap the plants and start over? Can they still produce bud?

What the fuck should I do?

By NO MEANS am I a pro.... but...

picture.php

that thing was attacked by a novice grower. She saw the leaves turning yellow and plucked 'em all. Took almost two weeks for it to bounce back...but... this girl is now planted along with the rest of the crowd and seems to be doing fine.

As far as the flower process.. my guess would be that it's only stunted and will resume flowering after bouncing back.

I'd think you should let them live unless you're struggling with space restrictions but then again, I always try to keep everything.

Good luck...and ... damn the luck....

I'm just really super depressed right now. I thank you for the encouragement RM.

I charge 150$ an ounce to those who can afford it, most I give for free, but I can't pay for the overhead, I need that 150$ an ounce from those 1 or 2 who pay, without it I can't continue.

This loss fucking crushes me.

get your clones going for next round . the bald girls are going to be stuntd but will still give you buds... in this growing business you gotta be built for the long haul , not the short sprint. shits definitely going to knock you down but you gotta get up and get back at it :tipwhen you first start the grow and you find your female , take a shit load of clones , I mean like 75 or 50 because shit like this happens :tiphat:

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm limited on space, I can't have back up, everything starts here from a seed. Cuttings are not an option now because it is to hot, and in the winter it is to cold, I have a delicate balancing act going on and I just got knocked off the wire.

My beautiful plants destroyed.

Fucking balls, man. So sorry to see this. I have no clue what the best thing to do would be. If I were you, I'd remove anything that looks dead, top 'em to control height, send 'em back into veg for a few weeks and hope for the best. I know it sucks losing two weeks of flower plus another 4-6 for bounce back.... Not any good options here.

Maybe an oldhead/guru has shared this problem and can chime in with real advice. Just my attempt to help out here.... Fucking sad man, very..... keep your head up, though. Something positive will come from this no matter how shitty it seems.

Green vibes to ya.:comfort:

I'm going to shut it down, I'm done until fall. I've looked at all options short of installing air conditioning, and air conditioning is not economically practical.

Major bummer. I've been destroyed by bugs myself. Remember: Avid is your friend. I spray in the first and last weeks of veg. This seems to prevent everything but fungus gnats, and I only have a problem with those when I overwater. The Avid has plenty of time to dissipate during the flower cycle.

I'd think long and hard about an ac. Shutting down/restarting can wind up being a lot more expensive that just biting the bullet to keep it going. Just my :2cents:

yea its summer throw em outside and plants some beans out there and at least get a crop :dunno:
I did a dozen outdoors, they are a mixed bag with results, some are flourishing and others are stale, not enough rain this season is hurting them, the other thing is that there are people everywhere so tending guerrillas is tricky, I can't give them the attention they deserve.

I appreciate your input, I really do, and not to be a Herbert, but....

It would be futile to start now due to the ambient temperatures, it is just to hot in my spaces and I have no efficient way to cool them. I have to wait until fall for cooler weather. I have spoken about this for several years, looking for ways to cool the rooms efficiently and effectively. I have looked at LED's hoping to find a more efficient and cooler form of light, I even bought a couple but they are junk, and the LED's that will work are not in my budget.

I could go on, as there are other extenuating circumstances that I won't discuss in forum. The bottom line is still the same, I can't grow indoors in the summer. It is just to big of an inconvenience. Me hauling 5 gallon pails of water every other day as there is no running water in my out buildings, checking on stock two or three times a day to make sure it isn't dehydrated, having to go out there in the evenings to open the door and let heat out from the day, making sure I do it before the lights come on and expose my grow.

I have looked closely at the cost differential, it's not in my best interest to run AC in my out buildings, not efficient enough to be justified, not to mention raising suspicions with my neighbors and the electric company.

You could clean up the room, set your self up with a good preventative schedule. Get some autos. Sea of green.....
