Hey guys, can someone point me into the right direction to find a good tutorial on how to hang my lights properly? I been looking all over and havn't found anything (I must be blind)
Sunlight supply makes what they call a "lamp cord with socket" Just make sure you get the one for HID lights and not for CFL. The HID version has the sunlight supply ballast plug on the end, while the one for CFL has a standard 120v plug. heres a link http://www.sunlightsupply.com/p-12461-power-cord-lamp-cord-with-socket.aspx Just put a hook in the ceiling and run the cord through the hook. If you need a picture for clairification just let me know. Many ways to skin a cat though.
I am setting up another vertical grow and I am using Labtechs light hanging method because I will be able to hang three lights vertically. Check the bottom of the page 7 in Labtechs thread where he posted some close up pics for me.
I really like your method Airnut, however I've seen those zipties snap more than once and would probably want to use 2 (1 as backup), or something a little more sturdy. I have no doubt it has worked perfectly for you, but I'd just want to save myself the trouble of walking into my grow and seeing a light on the floor.
This enables me to aim the bulb to its vertical position. I could shove the beams on which the chains are hanging to adjust sideways from south to north or just hang the chain higher or lower. I use the wire to adjust the bulbs position from east to west.
Otherwise I would use some static scope device to mount the bulb onto.
I got lots of yapping from people saying it's no good but it's been working for me for years without any problems, I'll admit it is far from perfect but it work's.
