in such a volatile market, with 2000 having some kind of number significance, to the market ?

wonder how many times it will cross $2000 during the trading session, before closing above $2000.

of course us egotistical Americans define "closing above $2000" as the market that closes at 5:15 Eastern.

2000 is a round number, and resistance usually happens at round numbers. if/when we approach 3,000, same thing will probably happen. Recall 2008, golds consolidation had an upper resistance line in the 1000 zone, give or take. Took a year and half for it to finally and solidly break and monthly close above the 1k mark. For the 2K mark, it will probably be quicker now that we are here again (2011 was over 1900, not quite 2000, but pretty close). But we'll only be able to know this for sure with hindsight from the future (hopefully near-term).
