Genius Phenotype Characteristics

I was wondering what were the specific characteristics that make up the Genius Phenotype in a plant that was crossed with Genius?

For example, A11.

Thanks guys

i think you are refering to the term 'elite' if so the answers you will get will be subjective. but for me i look for tolerance build up, potency, length of high, flavor/smell, smoothness, and yield... in that order. For me if a strain doesn't get you high after 6 months of smoking it isn't elite. you will get use to all strains but there is always the rare strain that fucks you up every time no matter how long you have smoked it.

No, he is refering to characteristics of the Genius clone.

I've grown A11 and the Genius clone several times. Many A11 phenos are very close to the mom in the cross and some might be better. Genius' most easily seen characteristic is angular branching. Do some searches for genius and you'll see what I mean. Each node bends at almost 90 degrees. It has a quick flowering time. 8 weeks max in my opinion but better at 7 for the racey yet clear head high. She has floppy stems and her smell is a citrus funk. I hope this helps. Do the search on her.

From what I have found the most distinguisable physical characteristic of the Genius clone is a zig zag growth pattern and grows bushy/branchy. I also believe that the smell is supposed to be lemon citrus.

In my 400watt bio-bucket thread I grew Rez Apollos Mist which is (Kali Mist [f] x Apollo 11 [m])

I then crossed a highly tangerine smell and flavored f2 [f] to some of wallys C99xgrapefruit [m] and am around day 30 of flower with those in my perpetrecircoco grow thread. Those are going great and I'll get some individual shots of the gals some time next week.

I found this by typing in genius clone in the search section.

sounds great raygun,,incredible infact ...rick I was diasagree because the term Genius developed after A11 was bred,, to describe that particular pheno. 60 degree stems plus, bushy indi stature while still maintaining those cindy 99 leaf and bud structure characteristics..So c99 might display some of these traits ,there is no genius c99 pheno....right ?

Here is the story as told by Mr Soul and a good thread about Genius and others
http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=68433

"Genius is the sister of Princess. Both seeds came from the same bud.
Princess was obtained from growing out seeds found in buds of Jack Herer that was purchased in Amsterdam at the "Sensi-Smile" coffee shop, an authorized outlet of Sensi Seed Bank. Thus, it is considered to be an f2 generation Jack Herer. The seeds were found only in the deepest part of the buds indicating that the father was an unusually early-maturing JH that the growers missed at first.” – MrSoul

Cinderella Story
I've been seeing a lot of posts from people asking for the "Cinderella Story", so here it is:

In 1997, I discovered a few seeds in a bud of Jack Herer I bought @ "Sensi Smile" coffeeshop in Amsterdam while there to buy seeds. I didn't expect much when I grew them, but one of those seeds from the JH bud produced a very special female that I call "Princess".

Therefore Princess' mother was a Jack Herer (IF we can believe what Sensi Smile printed on the package) and her father is a totally unidentified mystery plant.

I also got 2 more females (Genius & Cafe'Girl) & several males from those seeds. I used pollen from one of the males on a heavy-yielding, dense, resinous ShivaSkunk (from Sensi Seedbank) female, then grew the resulting seeds to get males to produce pollen to cross Princess with, beginning the cubing process.

The first generation of seeds from Princess were called P.50 because they were 50% Princess. I used males from the P.50 generation to back-cross to Princess to get P.75 and again back-crossed with the P.75 pollen to get P.88 and again with the P.88 pollen to get P.94 which is "Cinderella 99", a cubed version of Princess.

The name "Cinderella" was chosen because of the parallels between this story and the well-known fairy tale in which Cinderella becomes a Princess despite her humble beginning. It's also VERY similar to the story of the "Morgan Horse"...go Figure

Anyone who knows me knows I have kept Princess to myself and have NEVER sent anyone a clone.

You've made the colossal mistake of claiming you "own Princess", a strain that's never left my garden. Now you've lost all credibility.

Anything else you say must be SERIOUSLY doubted after an obvious lie like that one!

i hear the A11 has weird smooth stems....like "flesh".....is this a genius trait

i know you guys like that genius branching,,, is it a good trait??..do any other traits carry with the branching??

what if your A11 is without the genius veg structure....

only have seen a couple of pics-but the genius looks to veg almost identical to the green crack-same leaf-same structure----Does anyone know if this cut has made it's way through Cali or if it is being held tightly? I would love to track this sucker down---And what is the A-11??? sounds interesting too...

Example of zig-zagging branches on a early-vegging Apollo.

Classic early-flowering Apollo bush

Detail of Apollo branching. Wouldn't quite call these "fleshy", but are very pliable. My fav plant to SCROG. :D

what if your A11 plants grow more vertical without the zigzag branch shape.....will this be classed as a C99 pheno??...

do you guys think a vertical A11 will taste like C99 too

Another thing about Genius is it smells wonderful in veg, like lemon peels. Only plant that smells close to her is green crack in veg but their flower smell much different.

englishrick, I've never grown Cindy straight up, so can't comment on her grow patterns.
My Apollo's are f2's I made from original Grimm stock. I believe my mom was in the 50/50% mode. They all had a juicy fruit gum smell in flower, which I would think was Cindy derived, but they cured to the typical lemon goodness. :D
VirginHarvester, the zigzagging and alternate branching @ the nodes is from Genius. That pic is what all my Apollo's look like.
Here is the runt I topped to get a cut. Apollo yields way better when topped and lst'd. I'll be topping and scrogging my next rd. :smoke:

Now here is a pic of Rez' Apollo Trip. All are classic Xmas tree shape.

wish Brothers Grimm would start breeding again
that would be great news if they did, i wasn't growing at the time they were unfortunately so missed out on all their stuff,
this is probably been answered a hundred times before but what happened with Brother Grimm?, why did they stop breeding?

peace

Not so sure they are not around. Seriously although never let the cat out of the bag. with some searchin and reading you get the feel that One of them may still be a top Notch Breeder around here. ahem never mention a word just grin and smoke it.

"You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to raygun again."

nice info!

Brothers Grimm did the rare thing and went out right at the very top of their game.
It seems to me that they could have cashed in big time if they had stayed in the biz, as in '99 and '00 they were red hot despite the $150 price tag for a pack of seeds.
I also have always wondered what ever happened to them and also Vic High for that matter. Big time breeders who left the game on top.
