Well here we are the 77th day of January. Bats are playing the Mud Hens tonight and the weather man is calling for an inch of snow by the 7th inning stretch. I don't know if they call a game for snow or not but I don't plan to drive over there to see. Not even for a hot brown and a beer.
I'm tinkering with my mix again. Still using 25% Happy Frog in Promix BX. But now adding bone char and feather meal to the rock powders at 1/2 cup ea per 5 gal. My regular mix of 6 parts CaCo4 5 parts SRP and 3 parts gypsum is changing from 3 to 5 cups of gypsum. More Gyp up front and less in the topdress I do at flower is the plan.
I had enough of my own WC do one tub of mix and have the 3 gal pots filled and ready for the Goji. I plan to veg 3 weeks in the pots and then go to 30 gal tubs for flowering. I only got 4 nice plants and one runt from the 12 seeds so I hope I get a nice keeper from one of them. The elfinstone and LBL cross had better germ rates 9 of 11 and 10 of 10 of the white skunk X LBL. All are growing well at about an inch a day in the 1 gal pots.
The elfinstone is really starting to stink already. I never grew any skunk before and was surprised by the smell, I didn't even rub the stem she just farted on me. I just got two new carbon filters one for my 4 inch recirc fan and one for the 6 inch vent fan and it looks like they will all be needed.
Happy Friday:tiphat:

Happy Friday tribe.

@pop_rocks. You are right some people seem to be vary tolerant of edibles, even ones who don't puff as much as some of us. Maybe someday there will be a scientific study and we will find out why tolerance can be so diffrent amongst us. I think you are right that the most important thing about diet is calories in verses how many you burn. I have read that eating carbs causes insulin release that triggers your body to store fat rather than burn it. When in ketosis your body burns fat rather than muscle so I try to stay low carb, at least untill after my workout. I've just got about 10 more pounds to lose so I'm looking forward to more carbs in my near future. You are so right about salt and sugar. I think with sugar it's more of a blood sugar spike that the body craves more and more sugar to get that sort of 'sugar high' cycle going. I have a medium salt tolerance but I know a lot of heavy salters. My wife will salt anything I cook without even trying it first, but she has very low blood pressure and her body likes a lot of salt. My bro use to be a heavy salter but has decreases his consumption and he has commented on how little salt things need to taste good compared to how much he use to use. I'm sorry to hear the sativa is not doing well but it sounds like your making the right decision not to waist time and light on her. I remember having to trash my Larry OG and GSC plants when they got seeded, it was a tough decision. In the end if she isn't going to be anything special then it's time to move on. Have a great time with the Mrs on your adventure this weekend...Fiddy.

@Rodehazrd. Hahaha January 77th is right. It's been about 30 and snowing most of the day here. Just flurries but shit I hate this. I choose to live hear and can deal with winter but these shitty springs are just about unbearable. I'm sure a bunch of games around the country have been 'snowed out' this year, I don't blame you for not going to see the game. I hope your new mix does what you want it to. I really need to get serious about amending my soil so that it has enough calcium and magnesium in it. I've been trying to use the cal/mag plus for that but I think its causing more problems than its fixing. Of cal/mag in nitrogen and salt I think the salt messes with my balance in my soil and causes issues like plants that droop when they shouldn't need water yet and possable lock outs later in the grow. To be honest I haven't posted pics of my plants in a while because I'm embarrassed about how they look. My granola fink seedlings are loosing lower leaves to rust spotting which is sometimes a pH issue too. It's getting to the point I'm getting worried that I might have to post on the infirmary for sick plants. I'm still using the same happy frog soil (from a new bag) and feeding light. I feel like a worse grower than I thought I was a few months ago. I'm glad your plants are doing well, an inch a day is great growth. I hope you love your skunk plants and it sounds like those filters are going to get a work out....Fiddy.

Hey fiddy sorry Egirls are puny like. Those bottom leaves I think indicate a mobile nute is missing. Dose them up with some Microblast. Thats my go to fix lately till I run out then switching to the micropak brand. I have avoided adding the Mg to soil as much as I can due to slonickle's advice. You could try a foliar of epsom to see if she responds. Or some kelp juice foliar would be a good option. I use Maxicrop as its available here.
This is your second run isn't it? And they liked the HF the first time?
You may have gotten a bag not mixed very well. FF is good stuff but you know shit happens.

great color and smell, i will have to get a recent pic of her tonight when i pull her so you can see how maroon she got
she smells like sweet burnt coffee with a hint of hash if you press the bud a little
while its still kind of early to say, she is really frosty and looks strong
i will probably pull the sativas tonight too
one is looking very nice with a nice cinnamon dusting and a fruit smell
the other looks like garbage and is more fit for making rope it looks like
/no frost, no real "stoney" smell
like you said , sometimes you have to know when to just move on
hope your weekend is going breat fiddy
had an in n out burger today after our walk and tonight we are going to be trimming
tomorrow we are heading out on a trip and i looks like its just going to be a fun weekend all around

Happy Monday guys.

Well it's 30 degrees and more snow is falling today. This is shaping up to be the coldest spring on record around here. But forcast is showing 50's and even up to 60 degrees here by the end of the week and I'm going to have to hope they are right. I'm really stoked to start doing more outdoor activities like getting on the mountain bike.

Speaking of mountain biking, I've decided to treat myself to a new bike this year. I have made it a goal to get into shape and loose weight and I'm just about there and far ahead of honestly where I thought I'd be. My old trek fuel 90 has been a good bike but it's way outdated and I'm not feeling it. I never got use to that bike. When I bought it I got into a bad motorcycle wreck soon afterword and never rode it much after that. It was my first full suspension bike and was a good bike in the day. I always rode hard tails before that and I'm going back to a hard tail. Now I just have to decide how much I want to spend and what I want to ride. I'm hearing a lot of good things about the trek rascal 8. I'll defenatly be posting up a pic of the new ride When I get it.

@Rodehazrd. Yes buddy I've always used happy frog on my seedlings. I used HF from the same bag on the clones I just put in dirt and they seem ok (not super happy either). I had to go to the grow shop yesterday anyway so I got some EJ micro blast and catalyst, I'm going to try some folar with that. I may have to look into nutes that are designed to be used with RO water so I can eliminate the need for cal/mag. I transplanted the seedlings and I'm hoping that helps too.

@pop_rocks. I hope you have great success with the new seedlings. How did the harvest go this weekend? I'd defenatly love to see some more pics, no such a thing as too much plant porn in the jungle LOL. How was your adventure on Sunday? I'd like to hear more about that for sure.

Hey Fiddynuts,
Damn cold spring for sure. We are supposed to hit 85 today. Then drop back to the 60s tommorow. Sounds like you are going to be shedding pounds, with all the outdoor activities. I am hoping to get out more this year. Definitely need to get out to the lake some.

It's been a rough few weeks over here. The wife decided to TELL me that her and the kids were going to move to her mom's, until we can find a house where she wants to live. This was at 830 in the morning while I was working. Definitely a long day of nasty text messages. By the time I was home she was apologizing. She's a good wife but she gets a little overconfident when she thinks she's going to tell me what we as a family are doing.I usually keep my shit to myself, but she blasted me on Facebook, so I returned the favor. Her bff messaged me to stop. I told her I don't give a fuck what anyone thinks. That shut her up.
We have since made up, I am still irritated by the whole situation, but I will let things go so we can move on.

I hope all the jungle mates had a good weekend, and a good start to the week.

we all fight with our ol' ladies, but i like to try and keep that stuff personal
moves are stressful enough on thier own
hopefully you guys will find a spot soon and things can start to get back to normal
no doubt about the weather, its like summer outside right now
hope you have a better week from here

a new bike would be rad! what a cool treat for yourself
the rosco looks like a great bike but also check out the x calibers if they have them
they make mountain bikes now for all riding styles imaginable and i think they feel a lot better to ride compared to the bikes just like 10y old
so throw your leg over a few bikes and find the one that fits you the best and just feels right
we ended up not trimming this weekend, but i will be pulling up plants soon here
i will be sure to get a few pics when i do
hang in there bud, spring is right around the corner

Good afternoon friends.

@packerfan. Man I'd love a day in the 80's. It's been way too long since my skin saw any sun, probably since the Alabama trip I took in early February. Looks like 50's and 60's by the weekend so I can hold out a few more days. We develop a great appreciation for warm weather around here in the winter and this year in the spring too.
Sorry to hear about the problems with the wife. All the stress must be taking its toll and unfortunately fights just add to the stress. Like pop said, taking the fight to a public place like fbook really sucks. I'm glad to hear that you've made up and you both are moving on. Things will work out for the better.

@pop_rocks. So I've never ridden on of the fat tire or semi fat tire bikes but the rosco is a semi fat. The trails here are steep and slippery so the extra traction would be a big help. My bro just got an X-caliber 8 and it should be a great bike. It looks like the x-caliber and the rosco have the same frame so I could get skinnier tires if I wanted to. I just can't get the exact same bike as my bro that would be weird. Have you ever ridden a semi fat tire bike and did you like it? I'm going to get to the bike shop soon and throw my leg over some bikes and find one that seems a good fit for sure. Keep us posted on your harvest and next grow, always love to see plant pics.

ive never riden a semi fat but my friend has a fat bike, its an ellsworth carbon fiber number that costs more than my car
i will say, they are fun to ride
the extra tire soaks up some of the bumps too so its not so bad a ride on a hard tail
you are right that it gives extra traction
the x calibre is a faster bike, i think it replaced the mamba' line
those are more xc race style bikes while the fat (semi-fat) would be more for plushed out riding or spots where its really sandy or snow riding
i will say i couldent really get into the fat bike, it just dident feel right to me
but since you are getting a new bike you will get used to it im sure
fat bike or whatever (have you checked out the 29"? ), either way you can go wrong brother
check out a few different bikes and wheel sizes, a see what you like best
hope your week is off to a great start!
its freakin hot outside!

Good afternoon pop_rocks.

Haha it's so true you can spend a lot on a bike these days, I could see myself spending more on a bike than a car someday. But I don't spend much on my cars because I don't put many miles on, just to work and back when it's too crappy to ride. I'm going to spend a few hours checking out bikes this week and make a decision soon so I can start riding. People are telling me that there are a lot of new mtb trails in the area than there use to be, including one at a park just a few miles away from my house. I think I'm going to keep the fuel 90 and fix it up for a second bike. I'll stick with the skinny tires and old school front derailleur and 18 speeds. It just needs a new shock and some adjustments.

I hope your week is going nicley as well, hump day allready. I transplanted the GSC and red eye Jedi clones into big pots today so will probably flip them into flower in a week or so. I've been really bad at doing updates for the jungle the last couple weeks so I've got to get that done too. We are having a heat wave here today as well, it's like 52 degrees and it feels like 70 after the cold spring we have been having.

yeah man, a top of the line mountain bikes will cost you a pretty penny
my own bikes are worth way more than my car, but i drive a piece of junk
you always need a second bike, especially if you really get into riding
/what do you ride when your bike is in the shop or sometimes you just want to change it up; it also serves as a buddy bike for when a friend wants to hit the trails

hope your week is wrapping up nicely,my man
got any plans for this weekend?
we are going to a friends house on friday night and then plan on chilling the rest of the time

Good afternoon pop_rocks.

Your not kidding the bikes can be pricey. I'm like you and don't spend much on cars, I think people making 6 and 7 hundred dollar car payments a month are crazy. Just needs to get me a to b.

I'm looking forward to having multiple bikes. I got the roscoe 8 and just need the rain to stop so I can get a first ride on it. The plan is to get the fuel 90 going soon but I need a new rear shock and to get the shifting adjusted. That bike came with an early fox float shock that didn't even have a lockout on it, lots of better options these days. And the fork on the fuel is shitty too, I'm sure I'll want to upgrade that because I'll get use to the Judi on the roscoe and want similar on the fuel.
You bring up a great point about having a bike for a friend to ride and to switch it up a bit.i hope that I don't have to worry about my bike being in the shop, as a professional mechanic I work on stuff that is a lot more complicated than a bicycle every day.

Do you use clip in pedals or flat?

The week flew by again and looks like the cold rain/snow mix is back for the weekend around here so no outdoor activities for me. Have fun tonight and I hope your weekend kicks ass...Fiddy.

Hey Fiddy
How did the plants do this week?
did you foliar any of them? Or do any drenches.
Good morning Rodehazrd.

Sorry for the lack of updates lately. I got some EJ microblast and catalyst at the grow shop last week and used a light dose of both to water in the plants when I transplanted all of them early this week. The red eye Jedi and GSC plants that are going into flower soon are looking good. The granola funk seedlings are now in 6" pots and are still a bit droopy. I'm hoping just some transplant stress on the seedlings and they will come around. I want to folar spray but I wasn't sure if I should the same week as transplant. I should hit them soon but since I've never done any folar spray before I'm kind of a chicken about it. Do I need to pH the mix for folar? How much microblast per gallon do you mix when you folar?

pop_rocks

the new bike came with the judy fork?
that brings back memories, the first real mtn bike i ever had had the judy on it
isnt that a spring fork?
if so you might want to get another spring put in it, the heavy spring
/the original spring is much lighter and they make a heavier spring for us bigger riders
the float is a solid shock, how old is it?
yeah, im sure you could do almost all of the maintenance yourself from bleeding the brakes to adjusting the shifters
you probably have all the tools for most things already too
if the rosco is going to be your main ride, maybe you could put the shock that came with that bike on the fuel and get a new, better shock for the rosco
welcome back to riding the mountain bike, my man!
nothing gets you more motivated to ride than a new bike
hope you have fun and enjoy the trails

I don't think the foliar needs ph adjustment. frankly I have so much carbonates in my mix I don't ph anything except the occasional runoff check. I think the kelp with a drop of soap or dextrose for a surfactant would be the easiest start to get yer nerve up and give the drench time to work. Foliar feeds show up at the roots the same day. The kelp will supply some k and a lot of micro's. I have used maxicrop and it worked well but I usually go with the neptune brand with a little fish in it. To that I add 3ml calcium nitrate per gallon in veg and switch that with 2ml of kool bloom in early flower. When I feed my hydrolized fish I pour it over the plant and let it get a drench and a shower. Careful to do it at dark as the wet leaves will burn in a hot light. I try to brush them off to keep puddles and stains out of the leaves. Discard all unused mix immediately or you will wish you had.
Don't even check the ph of most foliar applications it will scare you. Slonickel called for a foliar of 3% PH down or sulfate of potash to start the flowering cycle. You ever test the down to see what it reads? I bet its 3 or 4

Happy Monday friends.

Well the strange weather continues for us this spring in wisco. Some places in the state got over 24" of snow over the last couple days and it's still snowing as I write this. We almost never get that kind of snow here and it's unheard of this time of year. Truly the worst weekend of the shittiest spring I can remember. I really wanted to get in the car and go somewhere with my new bike and my golf discs but it looked like I would have had to drive south of Indianapolis to find somewhere good to ride and even that might have been affected by this storm. Looks like I'll have to wait until next weekend or whenever spring shows up for dosc golf and who knows when the bike trails will open up after all this snow.

@pop_rocks. I think you are right that the Judy was always a spring fork, I had one on the giant hard tail I built in the mid 90's too, great memories on that bike as well. But the new Judy is an air fork, which is something Ive not had on a bike before. It has a lot more travel than I'm use to as well. Looking at the bikes and forks side by side it's crazy how much they've changed. The steering head tube diameter on the roscoe is like double that of the fuel 90. Bikes must be way strongest these days. I will play with the pressure in the Judy and see if I can get comfortable on it. The fox float is a good shock but the one that came on the 90 was pretty basic. It's a 2001 or 2002 so I doubt there is a rebuild made for it anymore and I want a shock with lockout anyway I think, maybe a newer style float. If I remember correctly upgrading components is part of the fun of biking. I hope your week is off to a good start. Send some warm weather this way please...Fiddy.

@Rodehazrd. I'm pretty sure I've read not to pH folar feeds and thanks for reminding me to use a drop of soap as surfactant. I will try to do a folar today. I'm usually not here at lights out in veg room but today I will be. I'll try to get some pics and get a long overdue update done today as well. Thanks for your help...Fiddy.

im not surprised that they updated the judy, its a great fork
air shocks are a lot lighter than the spring numbers, plus they offer more adjustment
they even have kits that modulate the air flow better to give you a smoother ride, but i just pretty much run with the basic settings
this sounds like a really fun bike and i can only imagine how much you want to get out and ride
it is too bad the weather isnt cooperating with you, indiana seems like a long way to drive, but you will be out there soon!
in the mean time, keep polishing her up and dreaming of all the good times to come
/hoping spring is right around the corner for you

Hey Jungle mates,
I got the call this morning, we got the house i was hoping to get. It's in a good location, and it's 200$ less than most of the houses we have been looking at. Man that is a huge relief. We are moving in this weekend.

Hopefully everyone had a good weekend, and a good start to the week.
