Hello everyone,
My first post here but I've been a lurker for some time now. Learned a LOT and hope to have some help along the way for my first grow.

Veg chamber:
24x48x60 grow tent (amazon knock-off)
4'' 175cfm oracle inline fan
2-48'' 4 bulb t5 Sunblaze lights
shelving system to run two levels of plants
4-10 gallon rubbermaid totes

Flower chamber:
48x48x78'' grow tent
8'' 735cfm oracle inline fan
1000w quantum digital ballast
super sun II reflector

Nutrients:
Advanced Nutrients Mother Earth Super Tea Grow

All my strains are from seeds that came direct from the breeder. I do not trust clones as I've seen some weird clones going around labelled as whatever is the trendiest at the time

Strains:
Greenhouse Seeds Super Lemon Haze (5)
Greenhouse Seeds Trainwreck (5)
Barney's Farm Seeds Vanilla Kush (5)
Female Seeds Grapefruit (4)

All my seeds are female. Plan on doing a SOG first run and picking out the best moms to run a perpetual SCROG in the future. I will post pictures once I figure out how!

I soaked all the seeds in cups of water overnight. In my experience, the ones that sink (or sink when poked) sprout. I think it has to do with them absorbing water.

All 19 of my seeds sank and I was very excited. I then placed my seeds on damp napkins in the cups and kept moist until the tap roots began to show.

I then placed all the seeds in my rapid rooter plugs and within a day they are all starting to poke above the surface. I wish I could have gotten the rooters sooner. Seems like the roots are pushing at the rooter instead of growing into it....

Not exactly sure when to put the rooters in my hydroton filled netpots in the DWC. or when to start adding nutrients... I figured after a week or so.

Just got a TDS tester and my tap water is at 470ppm. Is this too high? I don't really want to get an RO system because they waste too much water.

This morning I check on my babies. All are but 2 are poking above the surface. I will continue to keep moist with my high ppm tap water because they seem to be doing just fine so far.

On a side not. most of my sprouts are over an inch tall and seem to be stretching straight up. I do not yet have them under a grow light because the seedling leaves are not yet exposed. Are my seedlings trying to stretch towards light? Should I get them under a grow light ASAP to prevent stretching? I'm trying to get them as short as possible as I have about a foot of vertical grow space in my veg room.

I bought some organic brown granular sugar today to use as a carbohydrate source. When i start adding nutes, how much sugar should i add? 1tsp / gallon in veg? more in flower?

I have never used anything for the corbohydrate source other than molasses.I use it 1 teaspoon (sometimes I give a little more nothing more than 1 tablespoon) to a gallon of water.

Maybe That will somehow help.I would suggest looking for your answer in the organic help thread.

Thanks. Honestly I got the tent off Amazon and have been VERY pleasantly surprised. Dimensions are 24''x48''x60'' it was 75$ + 25$ shipping. Very thick, durable material and zippers. Seems to have all the bells and whistles of the other name brand tents 3x the price!

My only complaint is the exhuast vents. weird 90 degree elbow if you want to vent out the top. I'm going to take a picture right now

damn...you got them both off of Amazon? I know their was some issue awhile back about pvc poisoning with some of the tents.Im not sure exactly how harmful taht is though.....sounds like you found a great bargain

kind of weird because that elbow points towards the door opening. No was can you mount an exhaust fan directly to the elbow if you want to vent out the top. In my situation (tent is in a closet) I must use this vent. Using ducting to fit in that hole instead of mounting the fan there like I hoped.

It's all good anyways because I needed to make a duct muffler anyways. Who knew 175cfm 4'' fan would sound like a blow dryer? LOL

The tents are Homebox clones I believe. These tents are EXACTLY the same minus the green sewing. I'm sure they're even made in the same factories in China..

So I'm really impatient and could practically see my plants stretching. My veg chamber is EXTREMELY vertically challenged. I decided to rig up a temporary lighting solution until I finish my veg chamber. Here are some random pix of my ghetto light holder, DIY carbon filter, DIY duct muffler and my DIY DWC containers.

All my projects are currently in the works. I went to start stuffing my duct muffler with the insulation I bought when I noticed the picture on the package. The guy working in the illustration had eye protection, a dust mask, gloves and a long sleeve on. I read the package to find that the insulation dust is a severe eye/skin irritant and cause cancer if inhaled!!!!

not exactly something I want to glow air through...

so off to home depot to exchange it for some regular stuffing.

and the dwc containers are still under construction bc I broke 2 razorblades trying to cut holes for my netpots. damn rubbermaid roughnecks are thick!

So I'm still in the process of the veg chamber construction. Hopefully I'll be done by today! Everything seems to be going well except my GreenHouse Seeds Trainwreck. I think I jinxed them by looking up some threads that absolutely tore about GreenHouse Seeds genetic stability. All my GHS TW seeds sprouted, but I fear 2 have died while trying to poke above the rooter plugs. One is a 2.5'' tall stem with the seed still on top, and the other two that are actually showing leaves look kinda retarded. I am posting pics to see what everyone thinks. Not sure what to do. I'm thinking about scrapping them as I have 2 or 3 other strains I'd like to try....

what do you think I should do with these?

Get your lights closer. I have 2 48" floro lamps (4 bulbs) about 6" away from my seedlings within 3 days of sprout. This is the only way to keep them nice and compact.
