DJ Short's GRAPE KRUSH

kathmandu: i can only speek for my pheno's.....

..... But if streach was put on a slideing scale i'd say the GK atleast as i have got to know them would be "low" streach, you need a well veged structure, can and most likely will add to the requierd veg time if compareing to other strains, but should not at all be consitered in weather or not to persue haveing GK in the garden. while she dosn't streach much... what ever stem and structure is there at interduction of flowering fills out like a pig on pure corn (anyone else who grew up on a farm should understand what i mean, but to put it in plain text GETS FAT AS A MOTHER FLUKER) anywhere that bud growth can incompass, it will... then it will smother the bud growth thats there with new bud growth... yeilds are crazy and the plants if grown multi stalk (in my view the way to get GK to produce her best, rather than single cola) bamboo or the like will have to be used to hold the weight of each cola. so to sum up, veg to just shy of the desired end size (may strech sevral inches), veg under the best spectrum and highest wattage of light, place light high, while some impact lumens may be lost, the growth is more natural. and try to start flowering with as big of main "sun" fan leafs as you can, do not "trim the bottom 3erd" like you may with other strains, all growth WILL produce with GK. hope i have been of some help.

Grow for all the right reasons. Peace GF

Excellent advice for alot of strains GF. I've noticed on a few DJ strains when they don't get what they need vs. when they do it's almost a completely different plant. Good to know about the bottom 3rd.

Hmm Now I smoked some Blueberry, I only had an 8th of the stuff, I like it at first, but got tired of it before I finished the 8th. I would buy more of course, but I doubt it could ever be my main smoke. I liked the high, but it was nothing incredibly notable. With that thought in mind, I doubt that I would grow something like the grape. I guess to me Weed should smell and taste like Weed. Maybe I am too old for modern things. I truly respect DJ though, I think has accomplishes his goals, and anyone that does that in my book is a winner.

That's too bad; chances are the 8th that you bought, labeled "Blueberry", was most likely anything but Blueberry. And if it WAS Blueberry, who's to say it was DJ's Blueberry? If it WAS DJ's Blueberry, who's to say the grower did a decent job? And so on and so on.

Judging genetics based on a bag is just... a waste of time? I don't know what the word is here...

Can't wait till my GK finishes. Do most or all the GK turn purple? and do some of the plants tend to turn more purple then others?

Trich.......killer report, definitely one of the best I've read.I have 3 DJ blueberries in the ground now.Depending on how I like them, I may consider GK for next yr.My blueberry takes two wks to clone as well and thats in an ezcloner.Thx for the killer report.
I agree JK is a bit of a bs'er.I have all three books and love the pics, but the descriptions are all so similar and it seems he's graspng at straws sometimes.

Ive grown both Grape Krush and True Blueberry. Neither were very potent I thought, but they had a long lasting light mellow high. If thats what your into. Oh and a big plus is that most of your larger colas will turn purple regardless of temps!!! :rasta:

dj shorts genetics are for certain headz not everybody likes the exotic traits, but in my experiance the dj is one of the best breeders in the world so give some of his other strains A TRY before you judge(because who are we to judge someones form of expression)...JUST SOME FOOD FOR THOUGHT FOR THE STARVING POPULATION.JAH BLESS.SELAH.

usah, i just popped 10 of these and on mine everysingle one of them is purple.

Trich watcher, Thanks for the excellent report and beautiful pix of your Ladys!!!

Next round I'll make sure to use about 50% pearlite in my soil mix and let em almost dry out between watering-feeding to stay away from the krinkle-leaf and to increase veg!

These 3 Ladys are 40 days into flowering and I can see why you raved so about them. They allready smell like Grape Skittles ;) and are putting on the frost!!! They were pollenated with PG13 x Deepchunk...I'm working on a pain relief strain that has an up side to it that will keep me off the couch and still get relief!

I belive the one on the right to be the nicest of the bunch so I'll be getting my seeds from her and backcross the next generation to start to stabilize my new hybrib, heres a top shot

If you click to enlarge this next pic you'll see one of the seeds peeking out of a calax...just right of center and near the top. I can't wait to see how they look after another 35+ days of flowering...the GH Koolbloom 2-48-28 addative should kick it up a notch!!!

Thanks again Trich watcher you got my mouth watering!!!

Seriously attractive buds. I hope to be in financial position to order up one of his strains eventually. If I had the dough a couple of his Kush Blueberry strains, real Jack Herer and NL5 x Haze would be on my short list.

Checking in

Haven't been here in quite a while, but I'm glad for all the info and pics that have been shared.

In the meantime, I've been sampling quite a few strains. Of DJ Short, I was disappointed with the Coco Kush - strong high, but very short lasting... nice coco smell, didn't carry through in taste very well.... I didn't keep a mother. Not to say someone else won't find a great mom of that strain.

I'm much more pleased with Vaniluna. No pics presently. Grew some out to find a mother, and just starting my first crop from that mom. Smell is strong delicious vanilla -- amazing, and with a strong, evenly balanced head/body high. I'll start a thread about this after I grow it out again.

By all means, though, my best discovery has been Ed
Rosenthal's Super Bud. I'll start a thread about this too after I grow it out again. The taste is nothing to write home about for this strain -- fruity, sort of cherry/orange, not too strong in taste.

The bud has very tamed down sativa characteristics in growth. Mine grows to a height of about 5 feet with very long, light colas.

Ed's Super Bud is definitely in the top 3 or 4 strains I have ever grown in terms of the high. This shit is strong, very, very strong. The high is an evenly balanced head and full blown, body-tingling, Viagra-like, floating, relaxing body high. The head high rivals the best Sativa highs in my garden (Krush, Kali Mist, Planck, etc).

The high is very long lasting. The ceiling seems to keep going up the more you smoke...

This is very strong bud -- not for the faint of heart.

I'm spoiled. I smoke chronically from morning to night, and very fine, well cured weed. So what fucks me up will probably be even more devastating for most others, who probably smoke much less than I do.

This can be harvested at 8 weeks -- and the high is completely there, though the bud does not look quite ready at this point. At 10 weeks, mine is ripe though, and worth the extra couple weeks. I'll definitely do a thread about this after I've grown more again, as I haven't been taking pics during my hunt for mothers lately. But I will as I grow out my first real crops of these wonderful strains. Super Ed, as I call it, may be the best kept secret of 2008. :jump:

Hi Trich Watcher, Have your GK ladys started to purple up yet? They sure look nice, rep comin your way! Mine are at 62 days into flowerin and just the smallest feeder leaves are showing some color change on the undersides and theres still new growth at the bud sites. I figure mine are gonna take at least 9 weeks or so to finish. Your gonna have to post some pix of your Vaniluna!

Hey trich, great report and great thread. I've always been intrigued by DJ Short's strains. I've stayed away from them due to hearing they are very difficult to grow, have many mutations, and are very sensitive to nutrients. But from reading reports like yours, and others, it seems that as long as you know what to do, you'll be able to grow them fine.

Do you have any pictures of Grape Krush's dried buds?

Peace,
:rasta:

The Buzz: Electric head high with simultaneous full-bodied, flying buzz, that leaves you thinking your clear-headed, but really you are soaring in a sensuous and ecstatic, charged from head-to-toe high that is really hard to beat and is a bit disorienting, both with respect to time and space. It is very easy to lose yourself in music, or creative thoughts, or watching TV - and, oh, makes me very horny too. The munchies factor is there, but mildly, not uncontrollably - and I really appreciate that. Time seems to freeze and speed up simultaneously. My god, this is fantastic pot! And better yet, the more you smoke, the higher you get, and hours later…. NOT washed out and drained, but physically relaxed, mentally refreshed and ready for more. That makes this really extraordinary and unique, and it has so many positive qualities all in one stunningly beautiful, tasty package, and without the negative qualities that often goes along with the different elements of the high (I.e. it isn’t paranoia-inducing, but is very stimulating; it isn’t a narcotic couch-lock, but it IS a narcotic soaring high that doesn’t leave you exhausted.)

Boy that sounds good. If I could read a few more reports that concur with this one I'd definitely have to spend the money on it. That is an excellent sounding high.
