AD MY Brotha!
Give me some tips for poppin beans!!! You gotta have a couple
I know you just switched to the pool ppk method which obviously I'm not doing (shit i should be), but I need some pointers;
I popped 13 Newhouse seeds, 12 germed, all 12 got to be about 3 inches tall, only the first pair of small leaves. On 6 of the 12 the stem got weak in the middle, and poof, they dipped to the floor. Goners.
I've had these issues in the past too. My light is 12'' Above the tops. (Necessary for the clones i have under there as well, but cmon...12'' w/ a 8 bulb t5 is plenty close?
I've got a fan in there, low speed.. Temps 72-76 Depending on what time of day it is.. Humidity 50%-60%...(read you want 50% ish for clones)...
The newhouse seeds I just popped i put in cups of coco + perlite, after cups of water and then paper towels. 6/13 isnt good enough for me... I need 12/13.
After doing some reading and research, and talking to my buddy at the dro store I picked up some rapid rooters, and skipped the paper towel with this run. However, germing the seeds isnt my problem.. Its after they break the surface, ditch the seed coat, and chill in their first week that I get problems. They grow to be about 2 inches tall in 1-2 days, and then post up for a week and dont do jack shit except get a weak stem and die. What am i doin wrong? Wheres my lush cannabis tree dawg??
Much appreciated! Hoping for better luck with the rooters. Dont know why it would be that much different tho lol
Shit bro... Pains me to hear... Ran into the same issue popping seeds this run myself....
Sounds like my over wet and either to warm or cold try's..
Damping off (or damping-off) is a horticultural disease or condition, caused by a number of different pathogens that kill or weaken seeds or seedlings before or after they germinate. It is most prevalent in wet and cool conditions
I found seeds and little seedlings are better off kept simple.
For me... 24h soak then 24-48 napkin in a warm spot. I use 2 plates on the fridge or on one of my CLF hoods.
Per soak media/Rockwool~CC~soil whatever... 12-24 hours to dry.
(The media should be moist but not dripping wet when the seedling is placed)
place over-not on- A warming pad.. Having the tray 1/2" above the heating pad worked good. Dome on top till the seedling come up then removed in a high humidity environment 60-70% RH. No water needed for the 1st week or so,even then only lightly watered till harden.
So many ways to skin this cat!!!
Or like I said simple is better...
Get a Kiddie pool fill it with CC and toss some seeds in it... Bam... Trees...
For me... Straight CC was easy with cup in cup_bottom cup holding 1/2" water on a warm spot. Water added every few days. But ...
Was hard to tell when water was needed as the top always looked dry....
My next germination will be with CC/Coco and I will use this mix through veg into pure CC for flowering...
This is the approach I'm coming away with from this season...
I noticed helmet head with 90% of the shallow seeds and almost none with those started deeper in the media...1.5"-3" did well...
Took longer for those to show but they were healthier and stronger.
Guess the bottom line for me was..
The simpler I made it... The simpler it was...
Hopefully someone can come in a add some nugs of knowledge on us but that's what I've picked up this year....
And I think clones like Temp 80/Humidity 80 till hardened off...
Then again... Im taking clones and plugging them into CC pools with a fan blowing over (no hoods)them with rh around 70s in the room and they are growing...
Ive also popped beans in flooded CC with 1.5 ish EC...
Can someone explain that to me...hahaha...
Guess,were all learning together...
Hope some of that helps..Learning the rules well,so as to break them effectively...
Puff,puff,pass...AD...
