Congratulation brother. : tiphat:

First we will using a sharp pointy object,I used a cooking thermometer,Works like a charm. We need to poke a hole into the 1/2" Id tubing directly below the 1/4" barb on the bucket installed for the feed line,Make sure its properly lined up for neatness.

Ok lets insert a 1/4" straight barb into the hole we just made.Make sure it is all the way down into the tubing so it does not leak.

View Image

Ok now connect a piece of 1/4" ID tubing onto the 1/4" barbs and run it to the 1/4" barbs installed on the buckets for the feed lines.

View Image

Ok now all that is left is connecting the 1/4" air lines and row one is complete.

Now its just a repeat process for rows 2,3&4 the pics explain each step,But its just repeating the steps from row 1!

Hooking up the reservoir!

What i do is set my reservoir up on a crate,Then run a 1/2" line from the res to the controller,Connecting it to the barb for the float valve,This is how the system will get auto topp off during the week.

Nutrient solution temps

Now for this type of system i recommend investing in a good water chiller,That is correct horse power for the job,The main problem most people have in dwc is root rot do too high res/nutrient solution temps which cause the water to have lower DO (dissolved Oxygen levels and can cause the water to become stagnant and that combined with high ppm solution will eventually lead to root rot.Nutrient solution temps should be kept in the ranges of 67f-71f no higher or lower for optimal growth. There are a couple types of chillers available on the market,One type is an inline which requires a pump to pump the nutrient solution through the chiller. The other is a coil chiller,For this one you simply run the coil into the controller so as the pump recirculates the water it is chilled as it passes the coil.Either of the 2 will work so its preference really,If you cannot afford the chiller then you must resort to a cheap alternative to help keep the res temps down.Take empty 2 liter bottles and fill them with water freeze them and just drop them into the controller. You will more than likely need to do this multiple times through-out a day to keep optimal nutrient solution temperatures.

For this system i am using a 1/3hp coil chiller,Little overboard but will be could upgrade to 40 buckets in future using this chiller,So always think ahead a few extra $$$ now can save some in the future.

Feeding scedule

Ok heres a chart adjust as needed to maximize growth with your particular strains needs,This is just a good guideline to get you close enough to insure no problems,To allow you to find your plants optimal nutrient levels and adjust to the strains needs.A good thing to do is slowly test your strains raise the ppm's a little drop it a little,Same with the ph take note of the differences in growth save it and use it to see where your getting the increased health and vigor then keep it set at proper levels.Test it often through-out the whole grow slowly making adjustments,You will eventually find the levels your strain best grows at.All strains have different genetic make/ups,And will require different levels of nutrients,And temperature/humidity levels to maximize yeilds/production,So be sure to slowly change all aspects a little at a time and learn your strain,Then maximize your growth/Yeilds!

Thank you BlazeOneUp , even for a 06 thread I learned a lot in the
week or so it took me to read the complete thread
and many side threads.

Very informative.
This will be my first DWC ever , many yrs of soil out doors & in doors.

I love to learn new things and improve on designs.
I have sub'd and await to see your 2018 improvements
maybe with luck , just before all my parts arrive and I complete the build.
That way I can see if there is anything I missed on my improvements.

I will post when I get it up to show what I have done.

Great ole thread :)

Hello , fellow water lovers.
I thought I would post a pic of my latest system.
Ive just finished a room build and decided to do a recirculating system. Mines a little bit different, in that one side of the room doesn't use air stones, it simply works off the spray bars at the top. I have tested this against the other side of the room which has sprayers and airstones, and the plants show no difference, so there is enough dissolved oxygen from spray bars alone.
Here is the res, it has 2 pumps, one a 8000l/min one and one a 4000 l/min one. Each pump feeds one side of the room, and there is very little difference at the outlets between them. The 8k one doesn't look like its pushing out any more than the 4k one. Oh well, nevermind.
Here is the rest of it
Hope you like it

I use 40m returns and 22mm for the sprayers.
Ive just done 1 run with this system and averaged 10 ounces a plant, for a 4 week veg, so it works. These ones are 4 weeks veg and will be flipped tomorrow.
Any questions? ask away

I should add the airpump is 60l/min, the returns are 40mm, not 40 m. the net pots are flood and drain lids, the big ones with the lip, to stop the plants falling over when they get big, and I change it out every 10 days or so, it has 9 pots and the totes are 60 litre ones, with about 40 litres of nutrients in them. I use exclusively Ionic nutes. at low ec, these are at 1.0 and look happy at that.
Its based on lots of other systems ive built over the years, and I think its the best yet, altho im still kicking myself for not putting the spraybar pipework to the back of the totes....
Cheers

Very nice and clean set up.

I started out in this game with DWC for some time but got hooked on PPKs years later. As I mixed nutes (Jacks+) for addition to my volume rez (I use a 1200gph pump to mix in a 15 gallon bucket) I too noticed how much O2 is added by just keeping the exhaust hose an inch or two from the top surface of the water... as I get older I wonder how long I'll be able to move around all that wet media and am considering going back to DWC (or some variation of it) in the nearer future than I'd like.. your post gives me encouragement & confimation because I hated air pumps and bubble apparatuses for O2 infusion.

But that O2 pump bucket you have (great idea), do you not get algae build-up without a top on it? doesnt look like it, why is that?

the o2 pump bucket? do you mean the reserviour with the pumps in it?
I have a liid for the res, I just didn't take a pic with it on. I usually just rest it on top of the tote, due to the water pump feed pipes etc.
Another guy I know has a similar system, and he just has rubber hoses coming from the pump with a tee fitting, another piece of hose into the tote via a IWS grommet in the top of the tote, hose into the tote, into a y piece. It just splashes the surface from about 4 inches. He grows trees in it. Search out V3 grow show on youtoob Its a simple system, but if you are making one, place the res and chiller outside the room if possible. It helps the temps.

The dude who taught me to grow 10 years ago was doing DWC and then I found this thread which added the lifesaving R(recirculate). Don't grow that was anymore but have never to this day had the yields that came
