what? a little inflation and you're ready to get into a bunker?
save your energy and wits for when things really get bad
if you live long enough you won't be disappointed, and it usually comes out of nowhere like covid

I live far in the woods. The mountain I live on is my bunker...
and although I don’t think governmental collapse is imminent ... millions of people are about to be out of work Off govt benefits and homeless..
crime rates will soar they have to.
if this combined with the biggest inflationary year since the last recession isn’t enough to concern you than idk but
if I lived in a populated area I might consider upping my readiness factor

Salon.com? Never even heard of that site before. If you look hard enough you will find anything on the internet.

salon is good. they have writers like chris hedges doing pieces for them.
I'm a big fan of the Hill. Feel like they're more willing to take any politician or public figure to the mat. But truthfully I get most of my news from sources based outside the US - BBC, Al Jazeera, Kyodo News, etc. No skin in the game when it comes to politickin'. And they're not afraid to ask some very tough questions of our political "leaders".

Bernie Sanders back in 2008 and 2012 on Real Time w/Bill Maher sounding like some speeches he gave in 2021.

People are always going to complain about something.
Last week, people were complaining the recovery was too slow.
Today, they are complaining because the recovery is too heated.
People are funny.

Edit:pS. I lived through the inflation/stagnation of the 1970’s....which actually started in the 1960’s and didn’t end until well into the 1980’s.
We are nowhere near “uggo”.

I don’t think you have any idea friend...
brand new construction projects are frozen.. an entire industry fucked by tripling of prices....
soon there will be 20 million Americans being evicted when the cdc moratorium on eviction ends and no new housing for them to occupy.

cpi index up the most since 2008.
and 20% of all the us currency in existence was created last year.
But don’t worry, things are going good huh?

Not to mention that if some someone gets evicted for not paying their rent, no one’s going to rent to them anyways, so new housing projects won’t help. :D

I work in the industry... and lumber prices are up 300%
this means a house that cost 100k to build now costs 300k to build.
this prices a lot of projects into the unfeasible
(Cost more to build than they’d be worth)

I know you drive by construction all the time so I’m sure ur drive by observations are more accurate than you know actual job statistics or lumber prices or experiences of people who work in the industry so I’ll defer to your oh so scientific drive by account that things are all good in the new housing construction market

Well I guess we are about to have 30 million more homeless folks who will be unable no matter what to secure housing. No biggy everything’s rosy.. just don’t open ur eyes

if you work in the industry, then you should have a better grasp of the numbers
300% increase in lumber = 300% increase in construction cost?
plainly there is a great deal of other costs in a house besides the lumber

true but lumber is the primary cost in building a new house somewhere near 75% of material costs (a higher percentage these days)
I was trying to make it easy using round numbers an whatnot
despite your nitpicking I think the point still stands does it not ?
