I haven't seen anything new. Anyone have any links to good threads? I read the stuff on here religously... northern farmer, christian... those threads are awesome. I want to get a vert going eventually.

i introduce to you my lil friend!

that's what I'm looking for!

Small or big... I'm just looking for ideas on stuff that is more efficient.

i don't have any numbers but the growth rate going now will generate some serious bud production down the road! check out my grow log for details and updates. if this thread starts poppin off i'll put up some porn to get people thinkin vertical!

does anyone else have crystals on preflowers at day8 of VEG? :headbange
maybe CMH has something to do with this? usually start noticing them about a week into flower(~4 week old plants) in the past with HPS. anyway... i think they're sweet!

I'm currently setting up a new vertical flowering area, I'll see if I can find a few pics!

Edit - Apparently I'm not able to link to images, even ones I've uploaded to this site... (i r noob?) ... They are in my gallery!

I honestly debate which yields more: Vertical or high density SOGs..... :chin:

By yields more I mean grams per watt hour (g/wh)

In my case, it's more about use of available space - My new cupboard holds 80 x 15l pots in 3.5m x 1.75m footprint - If I laid them out horizontally, it would fill the room with no space left to even walk around!

are you talking about the veg time becoming a factor? if so there is ways of running a vertical setup with way more plants than you could fit in a flat garden(in the same space) without veg if that is a determining factor. it's easier to take care of 100 plants than 400 too.
take a average 8x8 garden, that means your total growing canopy could be a max 64 square feet and that's wall to wall. but with 4 six foot vert setups fitting in the same space you "could" have somewhere near 4 times the canopy. and IHMO canopy=weight.
vert is the way to go if you want big numbers in a small space. it's not for everyone, but if you have the skill to maintain a huge vert garden you will get rewarded kindly. i wouldn't be posting up a massive vert grow op if i was doing one but i'm sure there are some out there! vertical lighting is a whole other topic of it's own.

Vertical in a Wall of Green fashion offers the most potential in my opinion. You can position plants to catch the most possible light from the bulb with the least amount of loss. It also creates more work. However, it can not be denied that flat gardens have a large amount of the bulb's light traveling away from the plants and then back tracking toward them after bouncing off a less than 100% efficient reflector.

Well I thought about it a little more.

Imagine a 3x6 table with 2 600w bulbs over it. Then imagine 4 walls that are 3' wide and 6' tall with 2 600w bulbs in the middle of those walls. 4x more 3x6 tables.

But 4x more clones.... imagine having to take 288 clones... not to be envied.

but 4x the amount of bud is oh so envious! REZDOG's sig says it... "if it's worth doing, it's worth doing right", if i can pull 4x the weight by going vertical it must be the right way.

very solid point though! i've spend a whole day taking clones and it sucks!

I thought of doing a scrog setup with a u shaped screen around cool tubes with a wing above it to at least reflect upward shooting light back at the plants. I didn't get too far beyond planning it but did figure I could almost double the screen area if I did it right. In addition, no area of the screen was going to be further than 18" from the light. Well, maybe some day....

But I'd love to do a vertical "coluseum" style grow (not in a coluseum, but vertically like one.

My hydro shop has a wheel on display, so that's what got me thinking about vertical again.

Its all about a solid workspace that is comfortable and getting a rhythm down. How do you take clones?

Coliseum's would seem better then wheels. Wheels have to many moving parts and if aren't used properly then its easy to get botrytis (bud rot) from dripping when upside-down.

DIY is always cheaper and fits into your environment better.

My dresser is vert

My dresser is vert

Hi rr14 here is my vert-dresser.I have a 150watt hps and two 65watt cfls so 260watts.I just harvested two plants one like three days ago and another today. So I have about a little over a half-o drying.I'm getting a camera soon so there will be updates.I had 6 small plants in there, now there is 8.Right now there is this one nug up front thats got so so big I'll get new pics in a day or so.These are from awhile ago.o and a kitchen oven steam vent for the vent fan.peace

Mostly 12/12 I vegged for like a week on 24/7

This is my first run on with this set up.My next idea is to try to cram one big plant in her, but I like having them stagger in age.

I'm using a 3 tier system with 1 gal coco growbags in 5ft gutters. Lighting is 1k HPS on a mover, moving 3ft total. I'll post up pics when I get a camera!

at the time i had a need for 200+ clones a month and were all in a diy aero-cloner. PITA no matter how you did it. all i would take was a cut off plant, put into ph'ed water in a cup till i had about 10. trim up the cut then dip them in rooting hormone and in the cloner they went. nothing crazy or special about it but it would still take forever! back hurting, fingers pruning up and a bitching gf asking where i had been all day. i do not miss that.

since this time, i have discovered the wonderful world of vermiculite as a medium for cloning. same process as above but now i have a wick system with vermiculite and had 100% on about 12 clones(only needed 8). aero was too sketchy, something small and look the fuck out! always had clones die with aero if it didn't go perfectly(no easy task when running 24/7). vermiculite is so so so much easier, i never have to worry bout coming back to a tub full of dead cuts.

hey you with the dresser!!!!(editing post can't see ya name)
FILL THAT SCREEN UP DUDE! one of the many positive sides to going vertical in a small space is the ability to have a serious canopy. that may work for you but i bet you would make poop in your pants if you seen that screen full of nugs. nothing would change but more dank. it looks like you are using less than half the growing space you got there buddy. my .02

i would really like to see that coco grow, there always so amazing. just worried to make a change in something that is working. jus seems like less hassle.
