That's to bad you put a lot of time, effort and space devoted to the plant and it does not live up to your expectations. There is a lot of work for breeders to get the genetics that they end up. Well looks like this one is not in your breeding plans, even if the smoke smooths out it would be better if it was decent in the short cure.

Harvest Time

Harvest Time

I harvested over the weekend. I'll get the grow log updated and put in some pics soon. I'm quite pleased other than the nasty flavor of the MMM2 plants, but they can be used for cannabutter, experimenting with making hash, and experimenting with curing (I've got a small bit of it water curing at the moment with the rest curing in glass).

Test smoked a bit of the MMM2 that I harvested. It tastes awful! A mediocre buzz at best and a taste to make you gag. I'll see how it tastes after drying & jar curing; I'm also going to try water curing some of it. This mother & all clones are going to be discarded, though.

11-30 (fl 55)

Worked too late to do much - just topped off water as needed.

Harvested other 2 MMM plants from Rubbermaid container & put new LS2 & LS3 clones in.

Harvested MMM1 today from the Rubbermaid unit - this is the last of the mature plants in that unit. Pretty, but fairly small, single-cola plant (about 16" tall).

12-03 (fl 58)

Too much work done to get measurements.

Harvested both MMM2's out of the main flowering garden. They taste so bad even though they are pretty. The Lifesavers are ready to harvest - will take those down tomorrow. Here is a pic of the garden prior to starting the harvest:

Here is a closeup of one of the Lifesaver colas.

12-04 (fl 59)

Bubbler 1: 790ppm. Added .75 gal; 740ppm, pH 5.7, 71F.
Room temp 76.5F high, 66.8F low; humidity 20L/ 46H. Garden temp 80.1F high, 68.6F low.

Cloner 3: 560ppm, pH 4.4. Added 1qt water, 4 drops pH up; 460ppm, pH 5.2.
Cloner 4: 600ppm, pH 4.5. Added <1c water, 3 drops pH up; 560ppm, pH 5.2.

Harvested the rest of the main flower garden - 2 ea of LS2, 3 ea of LS3, 2 tiny MMM1's. Shut pumps, fans, & lights off.

RubRes: 1170ppm. Added 0 gal water; pH 5.5, 74F.
Room temp 78.6F high, 71.4F low; humidity 34L/ 62H. Garden temp 88.3F high, 67.8F low.

The water-cured MMM is much better. The nasty taste has been turned into generic bland. The buzz is still mediocre and only lasts 2-3 hours, but at least it isn't awful. A four-day water cure darkened the color of the buds, but it is still fairly decent looking (not black like some I've seen). It did rob the plants of some weight.

Here is a pic of some of my cats getting their "last supper" of leaves before I finished the harvest:

Here is a shot without the cats:

Here are the two tiny MMM1 clones. Neither was over 8" tall at harvest, but nice fat little colas! This one tastes much better than the MMM2 plant.

I had to post this - MMM1, whatever it is, is an autoflowering variety. This plant is in with my mother plants and does not get a dark period longer than 6 hours.

Here is a shot of the trifoliate Lifesaver clone's main cola. Beautiful and large!

MMM2 buds & curing in jars:

Here are the Lifesaver and MMM1 colas in their drying boxes:

I've been sampling the Lifesaver for the last couple of weeks. I am very pleased - the buzz is good and lasts 7-9 hours (I can smoke before I go in to the shop and still feel the buzz when I leave for the day). I can't judge flavor until it dries & cures properly, but even quick dried it is quite enjoyable to smoke in a bong. :bongsmi:

ambre, all I can say is WEEEEEOOOOOO and YOWZAH

I love your organized and detailed logs, you could be a professional researcher :yoinks: Not only that, you grow plants like you're Demeter

Nice harvest - I'm starting up my first lifesaver seeds, your log will be a great yardstick. Thanks!

Put the last of the bud into jars to start curing a couple of days ago. Weight as of today (it will lose a bit more weight during curing):

Lifesaver #2: 2.3 oz
Lifesaver #3: 2.9 oz
MMM1: 0.7 oz from main garden, 0.4 oz from small garden
MMM2: 3.6 oz from main garden, 1.2 oz from small garden
Smoked during flowering: approx .8 oz, mostly Lifesaver, a bit over half from the small garden & a bit less than half from the main garden

Totals:
Large garden: 9.8 oz
Small garden: 2.1 oz (this is my experimental garden; 2 plants were harvested early)
Grand total: 11.9 oz

Not too bad for fluorescent lighting!

The MMM2 is improving as it cures. I tested a bit in a water cure, which helped a great deal.

Excellent run on this one ambre. So what did you learn from the small garden experiment?

Mpro-

I'm running two experiments at the moment.

One is the prototype of the recirculating bubbler system I've designed and am building for the flowering garden. I wanted to see how my design on the feed lines & drain worked in real life before committing my main garden to it. I've adjusted the drain position and filter as a result of the experiment and purchased a more powerful pump for the large garden. I'll be posting the construction of the recirc system on my build thread.

The other experiment is to see how long I can keep a reservoir mix going before having problems. It seems wasteful to dump 25 gallons of nutes & RO water down the drain every two weeks when it may still be just fine. I last filled the reservoir feeding the Rubbermaid garden on the 6th of November. I've topped off water every other day and nutes when the TDS dropped. In the last few days, I've started seeing some minor indications of nutrient deficiencies and the pH has been dropping, so it looks like this res fill was good for 5 weeks or so. I'll change it out this weekend and see how long it will keep going during the cooler months.

Hi ambre,
I'm with you on not wanting to waste the nutrients and water. I've gone longer than you, but my pH does drop until I fill with new water. I'm having problems accessing the res and that's the main reason I'm trying to get through without changing res's.

Good luck and I hope you find ways to extend the life of your water.
