Hello guys,
After reading and looking for hoses for two days it would be nice if we start a discussion about where we can find nice ones, in assorted lengths and with the proper fittings.
I have been looking specifically for "Stainless Steel braided hoses with smooth PTFE cores, with female 45degree SAE flare fittings in 1/4" and 3/8" sizes"
I am disappointed to say that i have only found a $488 set from TerppExtractors. At this price point 3 hoses alone represent roughly 30% of the cost of my MkIII build, they are also not the length, or quantity i would prefer.
The next off the shelf solution i found are hoses of the same materials, but with 37degree JIC fittings, at a reasonable price point of about $50 each.
I have read that 1/4" 37deg and 45deg flares have the same thread pattern, and i have read of at least one person using them successfully, and also at least one article saying they should not be used interchangeably. 3/8" don't have the same thread so thats takes us back to the original issue of sourcing proper hoses.
So, how do you guys get your hoses:
-Pay for the value added kits from Terpp?
-Have them custom made? By whom?
-Buy of the shelf lenghts with SAE fittings?
-Mix and match with SAE fittings and JIC hoses?
-Or just get JIC fittings everywhere for the affordable JIC hoses?
Is there value to having 45deg SAE fittings?
Pressure rating wise?
Or connectivity wise? Is this the standard found on vacuum pumps, refrigerant pumps, or refrigerant collection tanks?
