lookin good. doesn't look underfed, if anything i was gonna say skip a meal looks like the ppm's might be getting to the limit for this plant.

thanks for that 2nd opinion
the upstairs does look pretty nice
and the green is that 'almost too dark' look for too much nitrogen
but lost more color down in some lower fans
really has not been fed much, just a single shot of half strength molasses/alfalfa tea

4 weeks of flower
feeding a lttle more than usual
does show, fan loss stopped
which i think is good at 4 weeks

a delay in pics, missed my usual 1 week update
just about 7 weeks, and she's packing it on
fan leaves are being sucked dry
alfalfa tea wasn't excessive nitrogen(i think)
looks to be making a run at 8 week maturity
saw plenty of milky trichomes by the bare eye

8 weeks, trich check time
thought it was close to ripe, not quite
clear trichs as far as the eye can see
and not as stealthy, some stink in the air
fried fans down low, but buds growing nicely
stopped feeding a week ago

EDIT: interesting, the picture is of somebody's else plant
it does look somewhat like my buds, but it's a different grow chamber
OK, that is strange, never had that happen before

seems my last pic is somehow crosslinked to another grow log's?
didn't see any posts on this being a problem, fluke maybe
try again

EDIT: better, at least it's the right picture
the cooked fan leaves are a little ugly

Great thread igrow one ! thanks for sharing and keeping this thread going . I have some s1 beans, not being popped as I have always been instructed that using s1 genetics is selecting for the herm trait. However I did run a few a while back, They were all identical , albeit different than the mother, smaller bud size and yield but larger leaves . None of mine showed the intersex trait. My S1 seeds where created when I changed from soil to coco, My Flo mom (several years old) didnt like the change and threw a few naners at the end of the cycle. The funny thing is the EXACT same thing happened to my bro who passed the genetics to me. I have been told that all of DJ shorts strains have herm tendencies ...Not too sure if thats true or not. If im not mistaken ALL feminized seed are technically S1 and would have to carry the intersex gene. Bummer if you want to chuck/breed. However . I just bought some s1 beans (bubba) that I am planning on using in my breeding(chucking) program ! I would love to see more of your posts, keep em coming .Thanks again

great post mtntrogger, love that breeding info
i have also read posts about DJ's gear about it being hermie prone
i think that's mostly in the lines that have Thai in them
real interesting in that you saw similar pheno's from your S1 seeds
my experience quite different, but i think that follows from the genetics
your Flo probably would qualify as an IBL(maybe), a narrower gene set for possible pheno's
my S1's came from a brainwreck with the supposed mother being the Arcata trainwreck cut
which wouldn't quality as a nice stable IBL, though it does have other nice traits
end result, i get pheno's from all over creation, and some just weird ones

Yep , Read the entire thread ! very cool project, props for not shying away from what others say not to do. Not sure if Flo would be an IBL , but the pheno I have is different than many others Ive seen, and Flo is quite popular around these parts (colorado), the person that gave it to me got it from a well known CO grower who grew it from seed (DJ short not dutch passion). I started my adventures in chucking because I loved this cut like no other but had it toss nanners a couple of times , usually only a few ,which makes em very hard to find, I also wanted to create something similar but with a different bud structure... denser maybe a touch less fluffy, but with the same flavor and buzz.

fried fans make her look ratty
but buds are sweet and fat for micro grow
expected to cut, surprised by trichome check
lot of clear, maybe no cloudy
but a few clear orange trichomes, hmmm
once had a NL with no cloudy trics, they turned honey yellow instead

10 weeks of flower, and it's a cut
cloudy trichs finally showed, calling it 50/50
the clear orange trichomes stuck around
small numbers, saw one group that were orange going amber
side profile pic, with beer can for size reference
total haul should be an oz trimmed, and time for a cure
and pure female, another no hermie grow

^^^ thank you sir, yield was quite decent, buds were rock solid
my one self criticism is i got a little carried away with the main cola LST
pulled that baby below the side buds
should have let it ride a little higher for the most even canopy

Interesting thread, I appreciate, as Im sure the others do, The documentation youre providing. This last one seems to be the best so far, let us know how she smokes.

thank for the constructive critique stihgnobevoli(really)
been thinking it over, best guess is straight alfalfa tea is quick release nitrogen
works well, but maybe gives a nitrogen spike
soil(2 gallons of lowes manure compost) had 4 tablespoons of mg organic bone meal(6-9-0)
which might be enough slow release nitrogen, but maybe not
bulk of the burn looking leaves happened after the feeding was stopped, around week 6
bud flavor is very good, cure should zero that in

i don't think it was as much a factor later on as it was in the beginning. next time the leaves get all burnt and crisp like that just cut em off, they'lll grow new ones to replace em. when they're all dried out like that they're not really doing anything. better off to take whatever days to week of stunted growth and proceed with 2 more weeks added to your flower time than suffer reduced overall yield.
