just look at those gorgeous resiny buds, and what colour also. You have done a great job there toke. A nice fat resiny plant and nice colourful resiny plant
Its been a few days since the last time, and Ive been busy harvesting all these nuggets
In the end, I gave them both the chop on day 57 of 12/12, having been vegged in 18/6 for 34 days. They were flushed for 2.5 weeks.
Trimming them wasn't too hard because all the small leaves were completely covered in trichs so I don't mind leaving them there... Still managed to scrape a small joint of scissor hash once it was all done, damn that was a good smoke.
Now here are some pics (and lots of them, too many to fit in 1 post!)
Just before the chop:
First plant down (the "colourful" one, from the left of the cab):
Same with a 0.5L bottle to give an idea of size:
Some buds:
Sticky scissors!!
The whole harvest, 2 plants down, bottom one is the one from the right of the cab:
Now here they are after 5 days of hanging in the dark cab, with the fan on 12h and off 12h, stalks nearly snap, time to put in jars to start the curing:
Here's the (dry) plant from the left of the cab:
The same, once it's been de-stalked, ready to weigh and cure:
Here is the plant from the right of the cab, with the more compact buds:
The same, de-stalked:
Buiscuit anyone?
Now what about the yield?
Well...
The plant from the left yielded a total of 81g (2.9 oz)!
The one from the right yielded a whopping 93g (3.3 oz)!
That makes 174g <--> 6.2 oz in total (which gives us 0.43g/W)
Hey Toka,
thx for sharing your grow with us. It's been fun reading through it.
Looks like a good result too
You were asking about accoustic fans half way through your grow and I am not sure if you got one in the end or not but I'll just let you know my thoughts on it.
First of all, you asked if they were quieter and the plain and simple answer to that is no they are not. Fans do not make alot of mechanical grinding noise, you do not hear mechanical clacking or anything like that, the main noise from a fan is generated from a big volume of air beeing forced through a small hole. This creates a gushing air noise and is pretty much the same on a regular fan than on the accoustic ones. I would actually say that the airforce accoustic fans are louder than a normal fan because they push more air through a smaller hole. So whatever fan you get, you should also get a silencer or some accoustic ducting to muffle the gushing sound coming out of the fan.
One really big disadvantage to the airforce fans and I can tell you I would not have bought it if I had known this in advance is that they use about 200 watts of electricity. That is alot of electricity compared to 80 watts for a regular fan.
Otherwise they are very nice to look at lol.
Anyway, the real reason I had a look at your grow was to find out more about canna's boost accelerator. Did you use it on this grow and did you think it was any good?
I am pretty sure you know what you are talking about so I am fairly sure you will give me an honest answer not like this twat last week who said yeah its the best stuff I have ever used, every grower should have some. It then turns out it is the only stuff he has ever used and had absolutly no basis for comparison.
Wow man! That is impressive. Looked all the way through, was really helpful how you explained each stage.. youve answered a few questions i had about PK13/14 and a few other things. cheers
I see you gave them BioBoost all the way from the start of flowering...
Im wondering, instead of BioBoost can you give them PK13/14 most of the way through and then a different nutrient in the last 2 weeks or would that mess them up?
Because at the moment im only giving mine Aqua Flores (red) all the way through then a dose of Super Bud Blaster in 6th and 7th week... would it harm them if i gave them some PK13/14 earlier on in the grow say 3rd week or something? Iv been told you can only give them it on the last couple of weeks.
Tokabowl- just wanted to thank you for this thread. This is by far the most well-depicted thread of grapefruit on the internet. All the updates are sufficiently labeled with flower days etc etc... my buddy's grapefruit are 19 days into flower and look exactly the same as your 19 day update
Well, 4 years on and reading through this thread again nearly brings tears to my eyes, I miss my GF, and growing in general.
Circumstances have since changed and I'm no longer in a position to enjoy my favorite hobby, hopefully one day in the not too distant future i will be able to put my greenthumbs to good use again.
@magoo: The taste was absolutely fantastic - by far the tastiest herb i have ever had the pleasue to smoke. Very pungent and citrus-like taste, lives up to its name very well. Yield was satisfying but I think I could've got a but more had I let them mature a bit longer. Still, not a bad result for a 400 watter in such a small space.
@kooki: Thanks man, glad you enjoyed the show !
@cobo: Cheers mate, I hope you're doing well. I've seen that you have ended up in a similar situation as me, not being able to grow is a real shame, and I feel your pain in having to puff the commercial crap from the streets... As for smoke report, as you had correctly anticipated, I never got round to writing a proper one, and 4 year old memories aen't really going to be enough to draw one up now. I still have a few packs of the GF though so a report could be on the cards at some point heh.
@BeAn: I'm glad you enjoyed the read, making this thread was a real pleasure! Much love.
@Blackmelo: Thanks for the info about the acoustic fans. I never got round to buying one in the end, and the RVK has never let me down. Sorry i never got to answer your question about the Boost Accelerator. To be honest, it was the first grow I did in that particular cab / setup, so I can't actually tell if it made any significant difference. And the tub I had went mouldy too so I didn't use it as indicated for the entire grow. Didn't do any harm though that's for sure.
@kyled07: Thanks for popping in, and I also apologize for the lack of answers to your questions. Better late than never: PK13/14 should be given earlyer on in flowering (around 3rd week, I gave them their first shot around 18 or 19 days into 12/12). Only use it for 2 waterings or so, it's meant to boost the early flowering stage, and, as far as I'm aware, shouldn't be used throughout the whole of the flowering. BioBoost on the other hand can be used throughout. I wouldnt use any nutrients at all in the last two weeks to be honest, remember the flush !
@Don Chocolate: The cooltube was kept approx 30cms from the top of the canopy. I had quite high heat in the cab by the end of the grow so that was the closest I could keep it without risking heat stress. If the temps were lower I could probably have pulled off 20ish cm.
@XGovernor: Thanks man, happy you enjoyed the show !
@thomasjones: I'm glad this thread was useful to you. I hope your grow came along nicely !
@Standaman: Cheers! No major ball aches at all, these were relatively easy to grow, and very rewarding. Will definitely be running these again!
