well there 17 days into flower and there gettin huge.

mushu- I veged em for 18 days.

drummer- this is my first time usin this system but I'm guessin right arround 3 pounds. and here's a couple pics of the pump and pvc set up. you'll notice that I replaced my clear silicone where my pump and res meet because I got a leak and I found out that the clear's adhesion rate to plastic is 3 wheras the black is rated at 7. more than double.

ok, my humidity is still to high. so I was thinking about connecting my dehumidifier up to my intake, but that might restrict air flow to much? or I could box in that corner of the room. if I do this I would have the front of the DH stick out and be pushing air in but that might still restrict flow? but if I cut extra holes in the box it'll increase flow but reduce de-humidification. either way will help but If I could get some advice that'd be great.

anyways here's some new pics

Wow! Those girls are loving those buckets. That was some serious root porn you posted. I'm going to keep my eye on this thread. It may just be the motivation I need to get off my ass and try some bio-buckets myself.

Hey there midtown, i love the way your buckets are performing, i've just started my own bio-bucket run yesterday.
1 quick question for u tho regarding your main drain pipe. I noticed that like most bio-bucketeers that u have left your main drain white & exposed to light. My 1 1/4" drain hose is also white, the black was 4 times the cost here & much thicker not very flexable.
Is there any risk of algie buildup in the drain?
I've always thought that it was important to keep as much light away from anywhere there is nutes to stop algie build up. As a result i've run a strip of black/white plastic up the center, above the main drain keeping direct light off the pipe.
Is the strip necessary?

I would say it couldn't hurt. You should try to find 1 1/4" sump hosing like BT uses, try HomeDepot.com, I believe it's made by Flotec. I found it at the Depot, and it's superflexible, works great. And, as far as the main drain goes, I also lightproofed it, thinking, the less light and heat penetrating into the cooled water area, the better.

WE don't have a home depot here in Aus, i got all my fittings from the pump shed where they also had a number of different hoses & sizes. It's all cut & fitted & the grow is underway now so it will have to do till the end of the crop.

yeah but we have bunnings lol  allways good to see some more aussies round this joint! eh
was thinking the same thing just the other day, considereing spraying mine black or insulation tape even, think spraying would look a bit neater though .or i was even thinking black contact, like the type ya used to cover ya books back in school, cheap as chips from Go-Lo :D just a thought.

MIDTOWN  looking awesome man, sorry to hear about your high RH, not too sure any thing i could add would help, maybe just try what you were thinking with the intake bizzo and see what happens, now if you wanted to add Co2, thats a diferent story lol. good luck all the same bro there sure are getting big now eh! i like it

hey everyone thanks for stoppin in.I've benn pretty bussy with school the past few days but here's an update.

Vaugeraunt- glad to see ya stoppin in, stick around and you should get a good show. those roots amaze me two, I've never seen growth this rapid and lush. This system is as maintenance free as it could possibly be, so get up off your ass, build some bio-buckets and then just watch em grow.

PEACE- I would rate the bio-buckets at a solid 10!!!! the growth with these things is unbelievable, durring there stretch they growing up to 2 inches a day. I don't know about making the flower cycle shorter but I've never seen nutrient uptake like this before so there should be some huge nugs on these babies.

KING RALPH- good to see ya stopin in, stick arround.

RATTRAP-well I'm not sure how your gettin away with a 1 1/4 inch main drain pipe but mine is 4 inch, very thick and yes it was about 60 bucks for 20 feet of it, not cheep. I also have to use a blow torch to bend it. and no algea on this home front.

EULOGY-hey whats up good to see ya, I'm gonna have to go with the intake plenum for now and then hopefully I'll be able to afford to do co2 next run wich would completely eliminate the problem. peace and stick around

Well Well Well good to see ya stoppin back in BIG TOKE. I'll take props from the creator any day. It'd sure be nice to see what you've got goin on right now. I'm sure It's up to your normal standards. Well I'm 23 days into flower with no water change outs or cleanings, I've only had to use ph adjuster about 3 times and these girls are lookin beautifull.

alright here's the pics

URKLES-- as you'll notice the urkle are flowering much quicker than the test strands but I think they just needed to stretch a liitle more so they should cetch up.

Hi Midtown, sorry mate i meant that I have 1 1/4" drain hoses from the buckets to a 4" main drain into the res tub. both drain hose types are white in my system.

hey rattrap, if your 1 1/4" drain hoses are white then you would probably want to light proof em just to be safe. well cant wait to see em in action. peace

well the 1 THING that I didn't copy from Big Tokes design was the piece of plastic in the net pot to keep the roots out of the drain, and it fucked me over :wallbash: . the back 3 urkles never get llifted up so I didn't even realize that the roots had grown like 6 feet into the drain and were cloging it. Flow was reduced and root rot started. I lost 1 of the urkles and the blue dot. I have 4 urkles, the trainwreck wich had a bit of the rot but I think it's gonna pull through, the white rhino, and the hashplant which is all strung up and spread out in the front to let it get as much light as possible as this is a big loss already. I flushed the whole system filled it back up with fresh solution and a whole lot of Hydrogen peroxide and all I can do now is hope that this shit doesnt take the rest of my crop. next time I will DEFFINATELY fix this problem. there is a little bit of good news though, I fixed the humidity problem by just moving the de-humidifier closer to the plants. and at least ther was a little bit of premature weed on the lost plants to make some brownies with. I also have mothers of all these strands so I'll be able to try out the blue dot next time. al right well here's some pics.

the train wreck lookin pretty shity but still perky

the mothers doin pretty good, I put em in hydrotron just because it was like 5 dollars for the bag but this shit sucks it gets way more crap in the water than anything else ive ever used and it cant even hold up a 1 foot plant

Fantastic set-up man!!! Really inspiring, bio-buckets all the way! You've got a great selection of strains, and it seems you've done your homework. Kudos! Beautiful plants...

Sorry about the root issues, but I've had plants with root-rot pull through as long as you take control from here and prevent it from getting too much worse. They're going to turn out wonderfully!

.............yea I had the same problem at one time but was able to overcome that with the use of the plastic in the net-pot, just make sure if you use it that you only go half of what the net-pot is…..
pic

one of the things that I see novice do a lot is to make drastic changes to fast!! Draining your bio-system was NOT the answer at ALL, and now you have cut back your (B.B) way back and what little you do have living in the lava rocks will be strained in flowering to keep up……….also adding H202 is NOT the answer ether………simply fixing the problem with the roots and placing fish nets at your return line would have fixed the problem….

……..anyways I hop every thing works out for ya.......before each grow just take the time to do your home work and everything will be just great..

hey BT, yea I know that I probably killed just about all of the BB but this shit was bad. its stunk up my room so bad it made me wanna puke. If I hadn't flushed and added h2o2 I would have lost everything. and I deffinately did my reading but I just didn't think the roots would be a problem. I guess that I just needed to see first hand, the amazing growth of this system. Oh well, next time arround should be picture perfect

peace
