One of the cornerstones of a socialist economy is the workers owning the means of production (you own what you produce).
Venezuela's economy is two thirds privately held. They are an authoritarian corrupt country who's economy is based almost solely on oil exports.

Bernie Sanders is between a social democrat and a democratic socialist. Definitely not authoritarian. He may very well be more left wing than his policies, but hes deinitely not a socialist candidate. He's a New Dealer type of candidate. More along the lines of FDR and old school Keynesian democrats. And scandinavian countries.
