If Nancy was limited to 3 terms she wouldn't be a millionaire.

Yeah, pensions do mean alot. We are the dum-dums paying politicians for the rest of their lives, for what?

Must be nice to be paid for life by people who you have consistently FUCKED.

So you don't support term limits or eliminating pensions? Not very progressive of you Cannavore.

Oh Boy! This is a DOOZIE!. Do you mean One party is trying to corner the market on corruption? #Convictions

Republicans had two years and did nix, nada, shit. It's not about what a few talk about, It's about what they do.

Hey, Shrink away. Shrink the military, shrink the fat, whatever it takes to pay for college and medicare for all.

So, Republicans had 2 years and didn't fix it?

Let's not live in the past. Both parties have had power many Times, during our history. Both failed to do anything to stem the corruption.

So, because one party failed to reign in corruption, we should do nothing about it now. Kinda sounds stupid to me.

I am willing to consider the free college, as long as you spend a few years serving the public in exchange. Also, if you fail to complete your education, you get to pay for it. Why allow people to waste public resources.

Medicare for all is ok also as long as I have the choice to opt out of it, and the Taxes that go with it. Especially considering most doctors will no longer accept Medicare patients. Of course, with the elimination of Private insurance, and the compulsion of fascistic politicians Drs. Won't have a choice.

Their you go. You got me to agree to the handouts as long as I retain my freedom of choice.

Medicare for all at estimates of $3b/ year... wew PF... how could you accept/ shill for ANY of these ‘social services’... the elephant in the room which NOBODY addresses is WHO FUCKING PAYS FOR IT? Literally every single person here can pay EXTRA on their taxes... I’ll go out on a limb and say ZERO pay extra and EVERY person looks for any break possible (myself included)

Still crying about dead babies while you support a party cranking out teen pregnancy’s at twice the rate of properly educated people.

Lucky for you your party gave you extra abortions to endlessly bitch about

Holy Shit Packer!!!

You floored me with that one.

I think that's a really good idea, I just worry that student pay back puts more government involvement when we both know their reputation for screwing stuff up. Allot of universities work off government research grants that ends up benefitting either the military or private industry. That might be a place to look for some payback. To my way of thinking, making more people smarter benefits us all in so many ways.

The medicare, we're actually paying for the indigent right now. It's just a shell game and we're getting robbed by insurance and pharma companies in the process. If the affluent paid in taxes what they give to medical insurance companies then the damage isn't as bad as some make it seem.

Health care for all who need it should be a top priority to achieve in any nation I reckon - before waging foreign wars - and spending money on more government - a civilized and prosperous nation should at the very least be able to care for and treat its own population - if they are in real need - no matter what end of the social/financial spectrum they come from.

We have had The National Health Service in the UK since 1948 - and everyone is seen to - no matter who you are - or where you are from - even one of my American friends from the USA who came to visit me many years ago - and had some serious heart problems - He had to stay in hospital here in London for 3 weeks - and was not charged a dime.

'The National Health Service as we know it is was born in 1948 offering free health care and is still going strong

The roots for the National Health Service (NHS) can be traced back to post First World War Britain. The army had shown what organised medical services could achieve and in 1919 the Ministry of Health was created. For three decades various changes in healthcare took place leading to the creation of the National Health Service.

The National Health Service began on July 5 1948, not to great fanfare and not with a massive expansion of hospital building. It had the same services as before but now the poorest members of society, who previously had been unable to afford healthcare and had to rely on home remedies or the charitable nature of a doctor, would be able to receive free, reliable treatment.

Hospitals now became part of an organised structure with 14 regional boards covering the country. The family doctor was the first point of contact for most patients and if the patient needed any other treatment they could be referred on to another part of the NHS for more specialised care. Also part of the NHS were opticians for eye care and pharmacists for over the counter medicines and prescriptions.

More than six decades later and the NHS is the same organisation in that it is still free at the point of delivery. However in terms of funding and volume of people served, it is completely different. In 2010 the NHS is the world’s largest publicly funded health service. It is also the fourth largest employer in the world, employing over 1.7 million people worldwide. Only the Chinese People’s Liberation Army, Wal-Mart and the Indian Railways employ more.

Of those 1.7 million, 120,000 are hospital doctors, another 40,000 are GPs, 400,000 are nurses and 25,000 are ambulance staff. The NHS in England alone employs 1.3 million.

On its launch in 1948 the NHS had an approximate budget of £280m, that compares to £105bn today.

The NHS in 2010 dealt with a million patients every 36 hours, while each GP in over 10,000 practices country-wide sees an average of 140 patients a week.

In 1948 there were about 93,000 nurses working in the NHS compared to 400,000 today. There were less than 8,000 GPs compared to 40,000 today and there were 6,000 hospital consultants compared to nearly 34,000 today. When the NHS was created it took charge of 480,000 beds; it now has less than half that figure despite treating more people.
Both men and women live on average 10 years longer than when the NHS was introduced in 1948. Additionally infant mortality is much improved. In 1948 there were 34 deaths per 1,000 live births in England and Wales and that figure is now down to just five deaths'.

*Who pays for it? - we all do - well, anyone in legal work does via National Insurance Contributions - which are levied on a small percentage of what you earn.

As long as every American has the choice to opt out of it, and the taxes to pay for it. I don't care. It will collapse, when the 60% tax, To pay for it is opted out by the vast majority of Americans .unfortunately the left is not capable of learning a lesson, without serious pain. Let them learn while we opt out.

The people who receive the care pay for it. That will shut down the calls for Medicare for all, immediately.

Ultimately, it really doesn't matter, the Democrats won't vote for it, they just tell their base they will. It's never happening. It's just typically campaign promises, never to come to fruition.

Badfishy, we both know with the insanity of the left, America will swing back to the right in 2020. Let's just hope the GOP does something this time

Fishy, Just got back from a week in Arizona. Record snow storm and cold. So much for the warmer upper and no weed for a week. Missed ya buddy.

Ok, Game on. I get to roll the dice now.

Cohen sings like a canary and drops the killer nuke that they can not ignore. Trump elects to keep Air Force One and stay in North Korea with his new buddy Kim. All the hookers a guy could ever dream of and they are free. Trump and Kim live happily ever after.

Convictions? Let’s play a game. I’m sure that refers to manafort (happened during Hussein’s administration w contacts of HRC), Flynn, prosecuted for a crime even the FBI said he didn’t commit and Roger Stone, had little if anything to do with trump campaign.
Ohhhh let’s run dems... Ohr, under investigation, Comey, strozk, Page, Bernie’s wife (case mysteriously disappeared) Loretta Lynch, Weiner/ Huma, Awan, shall we continue? Oh and the biggest fish in barrel HRC and CF... yeah I’ll take ‘DNC is fucked for $100 Alex’

I was referring to the fact that you posted half the article. You left out the ending where it said few fatalities. The way you posted a portion of the article, claiming 2001 to 2005 I think those are the correctyears. Then the part about the statistics going back to 1979, with 3 mile island. It's misleading.

Fukushima was obviously crazy. I don't doubt their Is risk involved in nuclear power. I am not claiming we should have a reactor in every town. We should have a well thought out multipoint approach to energy production. You focus on 1 thing. Try looking at the big picture. We are a nation of 330million people. We aren't throwing up a couple million solar panels and solving the problem. Their are serious environmental issues with solar panel, and battery production, no one addresses.

If you want to truly make a difference in the environment, demand all politicians stop combining environmental reforms with crazy handouts, like I have stated multiple times previously. You may not like it but you need conservatives if you want to save the world. We can work together, but don't expect conservatives to stand by while Stalin in a skirt (AOC) tries to destroy our freedom , and our way of life.

G `day PF

What`s that saying ?
Pointing out the splinter in your friends eye but not seeing the log in your own .

USA has melted reactors , caused nuclear pollution with bomb tests ,distributed depleted uranium via amour piercing shells and lost nuclear war heads for 60 years .

And no the nuclear bombs dropped on Japan didn`t end the war . It was fire bombing the royal palace that changed their minds .

But , but Fukishima .

Thanks for sharin

EB .

Green new deal

Green new deal

I have a green new deal...green being the money..
Make lobying illegal. A politician can get elected worth like 500,000 ( just an example) and leave worth multi millions...if that’s not corruption I don’t know what is....eliminate lobbyists, make politicians work and get paid like the rest of us...end big money influence on policy...I d vote for that....

Wouldn't it be cool if the Green New Deal would be that all representatives had to smoke a shit ton of green as soon as they were sworn in. Politics would certainly be different and probably a lot more fun.

Nuclear power stations are very costly to build and it's hard to get finance, which is telling. Many countries with nuclear power generation are now phasing them out, which is also telling.

main reason nuclear power plants are expensive is the way we build them in US. every damn one is a one-of-a-kind custom built, like a prototype. France has built a bunch of them, every one alike, and the bugs have been worked out already. nuclear is the "best" option currently. the problem is we have never figured out what to do with the waste by-products & depleted fuel. they need to figure out how to re-charge the fuel the way they do batteries.

I thought is was just massive costs and pollution all the way through the supply chain, in addition to the potential catastrophic outcomes.
Traditionally we have looked to Germany for insight a good deal more so than France.
Germany built out their solar platform years after France had decided to go with nukes.
I may be more accepting of the technology, had I seen any real progress on cleaning up any many superfund sites all over the country from the initial R&D done to develop the tech.

Don't think that I could ever really be comfortable with this kind of technology in the hands of
people with the levels of integrity I have seen in our politicians.

Despite all the dire warning, a denier is set to lead Chumps climate panel. We're fucked. Most governments aren't taking this threat seriously enough. I've got a theory that Gaia is using climate change to get rid of an infestation. It increasing looks like we're too stupid to survive for much longer.

Can't they rocket nuclear waste into space - outside the earths orbit somewhere? - since it is so toxic to humans - then send it to a place where there are no humans.

Maybe the moon might be a good dumping ground for it.

that's been talked about, it could be done
safety concerns about failed rocket launches have kept it a non starter
the simpler solution is the fast neutron reactors, they burn it
you end with radioactive waste with a much shorter half life
of course the fear extends to anything nuclear, even if it helps the existing nuclear waste problem
