BHOgart Extractor Thread

I loosened the vapor side and let the tank release pressure but it smelled like butane--is there a way to know if it's butane or air?

I'm still getting those very high numbers (170-180) on the high side when I'm doing a recover. I'm wondering if maybe there's a blockage in the manifold or something..

Are you pulling it down to 30hg's prior to every use?

When you recover, do you leave it partially butane filled, to do a"pour"?

Do you bleed your can tapper as you attach it to the system, as to bleed out air in the line, before tightening!

Are you recovering on a heated surface, and if so his much heat (temp)?

It will smell like butane, because it's a mixture of that and whatever other accelerants are in the cans you use... If the tank is cold enough, the unwanted vapor should only evacuate...

has anyone here rebuilt the g5 ..? i run the hell out of this thing and want to learn how to keep it tip top...

I have rebuilt mine and I am not sure if its any better also. I tend to think mine is just not as strong as it should be.[/QUOTE]

Air clean.us has an aftermarket rebuild kit, more suited for our application, and it's a little cheaper than the OEM rebuild, it will make your machine perform better than stock IMO...

Hey, yes we do all of these and thanks for the check list. :)
To recover we'll wrap the collection pot and tube in heating blankets or put the collection pot in a tub with water and a hydroponic heater..

How is it more suited? Its a promax seal kit, marked up a hundred dollars. He orders them from century tool and others, then marks them up. This is from the owners mouth on the RSD speaker phone...

In my experience, when using cans, the more you use your recovered tane, pour, and ad cans, the pressure increases. When I use to use cans, I could fill 12 cans in a 1# bhogart recovery tank! and barely break 30psi, during recovery, but as I would run my machine, pour, ad cans, pour agin and ad more cans, and so on and so on, the pressures would steadily increase, but actual weight wouldn't. Either trapped air in the system as cans are added, or higher percentage of accelerants are left (because if lower boiling points) while your pouring your butane, with your extract...

Try emptying your recovery tank fully, re vac system, and start fresh...

Been gone for a while. Now I'm back!

They were using the BHOgart recovery tank at the time which has its valves on the lines instead of on the tank. We did no further testing as we had problems with that tank leaking at the fittings before--so we just switched to a Robinair tank.

By gaskets I meant the rubber(?) grommets that were inside the refrigerant hoses that BHOgart included. I thought I had removed them all but there is a chance I didn't. I do remember that when I took those grommets out they were literally crumbling in my hand. Now that we're on all stainless hoses(and 1 PTFE lined hose) the problem is resolved. We did side-by-side runs by hand and it was a night and day difference.

We don't add heat during recovery. The black stuff came out after 20+ runs but we suspect it was there all along.

I'm not trying to make a point about the hoses or anything like that--just sharing so if someone else has a similar experience they can look at my notes. The entire time I disagreed with the crew about it being the hoses...but people, especially stoners, are stubborn. They claimed, maybe incorrectly, that the "worst hose" was the one from the can tapper to the system.

Changing topics...if you are looking to replace your BHOgart hoses:

http://www.amazon.com/Unisource-Assembly-Stainless-Connection-Pressure/dp/B007ZHZYES/

Those hoses will work if you don't mind PTFE lined(and you shouldn't).

You would want 48" hoses(qty: 3), 24" hoses(qty: 2), and a 12" hose for the can tapper.

Processhose.com is also a great place to go if you want to get stainless hoses for the BHOgart.

What you want is:

1/4 In T316 SS Annular Corrugated Metal Hose Assembly With T304 SS Single Braid. For the fittings you want:

1 X SAE/JIC Female Swivel, T316 Stainless Steel, 1/4 in

the hoses from amazon say they only go to -40 f... i want to go colder... will these hoses handle?

are all SS over braid ptfe hoses equal? or do i need to find some more specifically rated for what i am looking for....

It's under only around $80 shipped, not sure how it could be marked up $100

Guess he has lowered the price. Used to be more expensive. This guy (airklean) has made sourcing these seal kits much more difficult than it should be. He is still marking it up 100%........

PTFE loses its flexibility around −79 °C/ −110 °F.

Stainless overbraided PTFE hoses can have different wall thicknesses and pressure ratings. Mostly the pressure rating is the Chinese Thumbcuff stainless overbraid supporting the PTFE, so most of them are rated above 1500 psi anyway.

It is also important to specify stainless fittings. Check out Associated Hose, Motion and Flow, and Unisource pricing.

BHOgart recovery tank is suck a joke. It bows about a 1/4" when its at 75psi. I used it a few times then said fuck it. Its impossible to freezer it and flip it upside down to purge and water out, which is easy as cake with the 50# refrigerant tanks. The BHOgart tank has no valves on it and putting valves on it costs more the buying a refrigerant tank.

I started last week using my tank that I got the butane in and I had the best run yet! I bought the 5 gallon N-butane tank and it is better than the tank that came with it.

The pre packaged tanks of n-Butane that we've purchased had rupture discs, rather than pressure relief valves, and a caveat against re-use.

You might check and see if yours does.

Does anyone have a link to Stainless overbraided PTFE hoses in shorter
lengths?

That amazon link only has 60" down to 30". I need 2 60's and a 6" Thanks!

We have random lengths made at Associated Hose, Motion and Flow, or Unisource.

Are you talking about the eco green tanks? or Aiargas/Praxair style? I don't understand how you could use those, the ones Ive used only have one port.......
