Yuk, fack fast food. I like to deep fry my own chicken, and use only free range hormon and anitbiotic free chicken with organic spices. Home fryin' for the win.

Y'all don't think people in KY eat deep fried pressure cooked chicken do you? Momma cooked chicken in a cast iron skillet with bacon fat. I haven't had either in years. Fast food is fast food. Only difference is the breading and how much of that. Y'all notice now the legs are smaller and the breast larger the last 20 years or so. They don't taste as chickeny either. Factory farmer just don't get it, do they?

I can only get KFC up here, not a Popeye's in sight.

Some of you old time NY'ers might recall this news story from the late 70s early '80s. A Popeye's restaurant opened in Times Square, it had an actual canopy style sidewalk awning extending from the doors out to the curb. The sides of the awning were plastic signage w/the old Popeye face logo, pipe in mouth. During the daytime Popeye was a straight up white guy, but by night when the plastic sign was backlit he became as dark as James Brown. Somehow the sign manufacturer screwed up, man did that ever make waves.......

EDIT:
every once in awhile temptation gets the best of me, maybe like tonight after watching several KFC commercials (why I sought out this thread) I might want to pick up some KFC the next time I'm down in Bemidji. I'll usually get it home, enjoy 2 or 3 pieces and then later I'll wonder why I bought a bucket of grease again, after a single serving it takes on a certain repulsive quality, original OR extra crispy :) like me ;)

only way to eat walleyed pike as well, lightly dusted w/your fav flour, salt, pepper, maybe some dill weed and then pan fried (cast pan if ya got it) in straight bacon grease.

we did shore lunches this way for tourists up here also, whatever they brought to shore, often yellow lake perch we'd fry up. yellow perch are walleye's little cousin, extremely tasty, very light n' flaky flesh. and damn, when they'd get into the jumbo's they'd yield as much meat as a slightly larger walleye. back in the 80s/90s there was no limit on yellow perch, we'd fill 5 gallon buckets with them, have to sit & filet for hours.

you guys know all this fast food fried shit will kill ya quick right ???

that being said , my first job ever was at a KFC & i'm not a spicey food type of guy , so if i had to vote on either it would be KFC , but i chose neither one .

I much prefer my own fried chicken, you never know what you get with kfc or popeyes.

Lemme just say this... who the hell does popeye's think they are? How can you come out with fried chicken strips and call it beer can chicken. Hello? Am i on crazy pills? Isn't beer can chicken roasted upright over a fire with a can up it's backside? :look at this:

Either Popeye's or KFC can turn out bad or good, just depends on who made it and how long it's been sitting on the shelf. Worked at KFC and the original needs to be cooked in a pressure cooker but crispy is only breaded in flour, dipped in egg batter, floured a second time, put in 350 degree grease for 12-13 minutes until it floats. They hold the chicken in steam cabinets but the chicken starts losing crispiness after 20 or 30 minutes. After an hour in the steam cabinet it's alright but not crispy really.

LMFAO! That was funny!

Yea, I have to agree with you on that one. I love my own home fried chicken. Can't nobody do it better than you can. Well if you can cook that is. I sure can imagine that they ain't cleaning the chicken properly, etc.. I'm stickler about germs.
