Amare Technologies Solar Spec Insights

Amare Tech and I started communicating several months ago in my thread on another site "The LED Company I've Been Waiting For"

He pointed out the short-comings of the SPYDR 600 that I was testing for BML, that I was well aware of going in

We soon started PMs, then exchanged regular emails. He was in the final stages of introducing his take, as a mj grower, on LED panels, and offered to send me some to test. I am now an official AT tester.

My grow method is hydro, which most people think is too hard, when in fact it is the easiest (when done as F & D), and offers the most control should issues develop

My intentions for the SPYDR 600 was to combine grow spectrums with flowering spectrums in one light. The reveg under it has clearly shown the need for separate control over the reds, to be engaged once buds are set; otherwise, there is too much stretch

On 9/6 (12 days prior to having a SS100) I started cracked seeds and 3 clones under 2 white ufos (~ 100w total). The seeds started growing but no clone roots through 9/18, when I replaced the 2 ufos with ONE SS 100. Within 3 days I had rooted cones and fast growing seedlings. Hint: watts are not created equal

By Wednesday I will replace the SS 100 with 1/2 SS 150s, not because the SS 100 doesn't do the job. To the contrary, it's doing a great job vegging/cloning and would be a great combination for a perpetual grower. It will also finish a small plant in a pinch

I have a SS 260 waiting in the wings to move one under soon

Hope you follow along

Here's today's' pics

* Clones are in upper left where you see one yellowing leaf

* Pic with my hand is the biggest, which cracked 2 days before the others

Due to a major tent failure, I moved the babies to the SS 260 tent upstairs

Crappy tent was purchased from ledwholesalers. I had several crashes with the cross member connectors that hold the light, but the corner connectors? What a piece of crap

I came down this morning to find 2 of the upper frame corner connectors (3 way) had broken, collapsing the tent under virtually no weight

Here they are under the SS 260 some 4ft away to begin acclimating them to 2xs+ the intensity and power

Yeah I just bout a dr150 and every corner ripped when I zipped it up the fist day. I am now getting gorilla tents to see how they hold up.

FYI: Milliard tents (Amazon) come with 4 hanging poles and FREE SHIPPING

2 poles hang below the shorter two for added strength

Panels should be attached to the 2 upper poles

AND, we're back

Late Monday I moved biggest seedling to its' own Mini Me F & D as it was crowding the others

It is now pushing on 7" tall with lots of short inter-nodal development

Those remaining in the igloo are beginning to break out as well

and at this moment the 3rd tent issues have not been resolved

I hate when this happens

What is your opinion on the cree XP-L, then ran at 3 to 5 watts?
Have you helped design a LED panel yet?

All those links you have of old threads, makes it hard to find ya. lol

I know. Been here > 4 years and learned a lot, and do my best to pay it forward

Don't confuse me with DIYers who get off number crunching individual manufacturers diodes

Where most focus on 2 spectrums, I think 3 is the ticket.

As it relates to Cree vs others: IMO, the difference between top bins isn't that important to our plants. To me it's the Mustang v Camaro thing all over again

HOWEVER, Amare offers a special order Cree option for those who drank the Kool-Aid

All I care about is results

Babies have acclimated to 2.5xs the intensity and light. Next week should be telling.

I will be gearing up this morning, moving as many of the igloo babies into 1 liter air pots, which adds some 4" to the bottom of the net pots. This will allow me to increase the volume of nutes without soaking the roots, at least until I can select the keepers

Won't have my new tent for ~ 10 days, which is holding me back

Pics tomorrow

No, no, don't get me wrong here. spectrum is up for debate, and I'm not here for that.
I also know there's more then just cree. I haven't looked around for these 10w emitters yet, I just know of the one so far. If it's not worth my time to look, then I won't. I wanted your opinion cuz you are the best one I've seen thus far.

I was wanting your opinion on using the same type of chip found in say, a cops flashlight. can be run up to 10w, are single chipped emitters. NOT cobs.
Run them at half the max should run really cool, and last a long time.

Reason I ask, is cuz, A 100w cob is made up of 100 1w chips. meaning they are only 1w, and so many in a small area need more cooling, and don't have the foot print of singles on a panel.

Are you working for Amare?

I am not 'working' for Amare in the sense that I do not get paid, BUT, I get free use of panels, BUT, Amare expects honest reporting.

I wouldn't do it otherwise, and he knows that

Please, no more DIY questions. It's not my thing, and this isn't that kind of thread:tiphat:

Update

Lights just came on

Newest leafs are reaching up toward the light

All are healthy, except for the clone

I slightly repositioned the light to get more light on the left side of the plant in the Mini-Me

Yesterday, I made up fresh nutes: Igloo now at ~ 400

Expecting a big jump this week

Face it pet, you could grow good plants under incandescent lamps. ;-)

Thanks

well I didn't do well with cfls, or cfls mixed with a POS RB UFO 90

I did pretty good with 432w hot5s, also led household bulbs plus led tubes, but nothing like now

There's just no substitute for horse power

The 2 most important elements are food and light

Amare makes lights for just about any grower with > 4ft of height 100/150/260 then multiples to fill an tent. More options in the near future, quite possibly something for the wardrobe crowd, too

Plants have definitely perked up over night,

a sure sign that enough roots have grown down to slurp the nutes to feed all the leaf structure

Wednesday's pics should be impressive

Unfortunately, my new tent won't be here any sooner than Friday

I pinched the very top of the biggest baby (in the netpot F & D)

Babies are fighting for the light, getting bigger than the 260 footprint with light at 18”.

Time to move them out of the Igloo bubbler

I 'm going to convert a larger tote to F & D that I used back in my High Pressure Aero days, and use a T to feed both from the same rez

Easy- Peasy: parts on hand. Cutting the side wall down on the tote down will be the biggest problem

Done, but the previous hole is n a position where the bulkhead is leaking. Need to buy a new tote

I raised the panel: now ~ 30" above. Leafs were bleaching. Plants are much happier.

First big tote already had a drain hole, but it leaked when I installed the bulkhead

Replaced it with a new tote, which is too big, meaning the nutes don't fill it very much.

I added some jugs to help displace to some improvement

Hand watering to compensate

It's a temporary tray until the new tent gets here

Fresh nutes to both tents

The Big Baby on the left, in it's own F & D tote, is droopy this morning

The nursery is fine, both are feeding from the same rez

The difference is the BB tote has some algae, so I cleaned the tote, and am now soaking the roots in h2o2 in case there's something untoward going on inside the root ball. Nope nothing unusual was in the soaking water

Thinking further about this, BB is closer to the light, so I raised the light higher

The wire hanging harness is too long, which makes the light hang much lower.

Fortunately, I had 4 adjustable hangers on hand

I replaced it with 4 adjustable hangers

Hopefully, that solves it

Just checked (been ~ 2 hours) she's almost fully perked up
