Supposedly he called mitch after the adam Dunn show aired and was like "that was the team." I guess one of the dudes Dave mentioned is the guy that passed the OG to him. So it seems legit.

But then other parts seem not so plausible.

That being said, I hung out with someone last night who has seeds from an old school dude who just passed away. This guy claimed the seeds were from a crazy underground bunker project. He had given my friend a mason jar full of seeds years ago swearing there were some crazy genetics in them. He had quit growing around '89-'90... so these seeds came from a bunker grow, out west in the late 80s early 90s.... my friend caught the podcast and pretty much freaked and busted those seeds out to pop some...

yeah, Orgnkid is saying he got it from bubba's crew.. nothing to do with dave's story.

Seems that Bubba definetly has had some type OG kush for a good while.. seems like at least back to 96...?
i do find the part of the story where they named it "kush" because his friends brother called it kushberries, hard to believe. Seems kinda unlikely.

and then in Dave's story, im curious when they changed the name from Kryptonite to "O.riginal G.enetic's Kush"? and why?

Dave talked about being at a concert and the original gangster song came on and he just sang the words original genetics instead. This doesn't answer why he would start calling it something different unless it just stuck like some things do that way.

Seeing what orgnkid posted makes me the happiest person alive. And now alot of things make sense at least when it came to la. I got my og from orgnkids source, but years later. "J" who orgnkid credits as his source still passes the cut aound. So its attainable through him still.

K is on IG now. Been post a bunch of pics from the 90s. Someone should ask him to post some.

Somehow I doubt it's the same, seems like at some point someone would have made the comparison of the two over the last 15 years.

I have grown Kryptonite from SR71 . I believe it was k's from Trichome Tech
I don't think it is related to OG
It was a short stout plant

Thnks for the info. I also use to grow a strain called kryptonite that I picked up from Bluesky . Is this your strain also.? I lost her and would like to get her back.

If it was found in chem 91, it was in the first batch ever, and it wasn't called chem 91, cause TK can be traced to the late 80s supposedly by the swamp boys. But yeah, chem 91 is the closest chem I've ever seen to OG kush, but TK is the original. Everything else after is watered down TK, including the original "OG kush" clones from orgnkid. His "OG kush" that the S1 seeds came from was most likely TK, renamed, because as we all know, no one is supposed to have her. One of the original no passing strains. They all start to trickle out eventually, sometimes under other names.

I'm enjoying the conversation. I smoked some of the OG i got from Reserva seeds with you a year or so ago. I have always found it odd the the inside of the seed pack says Chem 91. I know when I smoked some with you I took the time to ask which OG it most reminded you of and you said ghost. I just scored cuts of Ghost and Chemdawg D (assume they are legit) as well as the White. I have selfed my OG as well as mix it with a Chemdawg from Insane seed posse. The results are good but all over the place. I have strong OG phenos with a sativa leaning buzz and a few Chem phenos (most powerful of the cross), it also threw several that reminded me of NYCD. I plan to keep line breeding my project toward the OG side of the family and hopefully score freeky good one or so. Once I've hit f4 or so I will be mixing back to the clone onlys (assuming the all check out to be what they supposed to be).

Oh, and a few slightly OG tasting phenos that are not that great, take 2 tokes and wake up again a few hours later, exactly what I don't like. I also hit a few of the tastier NYCD tasting ones and hit them with some Sweet Tooth pollen, saving them for a later date. Sounds like a yummy grapefruity project just not the one I want to mess with now.

so far Og Kush appears more as a phenotype than a specific strain or hybrid. Seems to me that many roads, in doing hybrids, could lead to crosses that can offer OG Kush type plant.

Every good plant is a phenotype...a particular combination of desirable gene traits from some hybrid.

That's why people keep clones to begin with...that's why people who nail their plants share environmental information as well - so the same expression can be experienced by others.
