whiteberrieS,
There was a great post with pictures and conclusions.
Just paranoia from sativa, nothing unusual =\

Nice magicCannabus..any pics? On this 2nd run now that my nutrients are all fully composted, got the best plants I've ever grown. Them being BOG seeds probably has something to do with it as well ;)

haha bwoyrude...that's why I like indicas.

BOG's Blue Kush in 100% coco, KIS nutrient pack, and ACT.

I've been inactive on here for a long time and just started my grow again. I have an old pic from my second-to-last grow that is a good example of an organic coir-based grow. My last grow didn't go as well because I had an AC failure and just could not keep them cool enough.

Anyway here is the pic:

Flouro-vert, interesting. That one on the left was a beast, what was she 6' from the pot?

There's actually two on the left. They were a trainwreck x sour diesel mix. On the right was Purple Haze in the back and Trainwreck x Columbian Gold in the front. Sadly all my really good seeds like that are gone and I'm on disability so replacing them isn't going to happen any time soon lol. I used to have clones, but I had a very dramatic issue with a friend and had to get rid of everything for a while, plus the heat got really bad that summer and the AC failed. The saddest loss for me was the C99 x Deep Chunk and my HTC North#1. Anyway, they are in 8 inch plastic pots and those lights are 4' T-8 shop lights, so they're about 4' tall. My blue-red balance was not very good though, I should have been using more red bulbs. My new chamber has a 400W HID overhead(runs CMH or HPS) and still has shop lights in the corners. I believe there's about 656W of light in a 6 sq foot space, which is comparable to the light density you see in this picture but with an overhead light. I feel like I could have done much much better and I still did really well with that space. Unfortunately one of the TW x SD went hermie on me and so did the P. Haze. Got a few nanners from the other two, but nothing serious. I still have a few seeds from them but I'm a little reluctant to grow out seeds from a hermie....

haha they look pretty towering. how do the flouros on the edges do for you, do they cut down a lot on the larf?

The side-lights make a huge difference on the quality of the side buds. They grow like they are tops, toward the fluoros. I want to try something like LED or T-5 along the edges to get a more intense light. The big advantage of the T-8 is that the plants can grow up against them. They are environmental nightmare to dispose of though, and are thus expensive to get rid of(a dollar or more per tube!!!).

So frosty! Makes me miss proper weed. I've got nothing left to smoke except for shake, mostly from leaves from the last couple years. I am so eager to get my girls in flower, but I am not going to rush them!

Never tried the KIS Nutrient Pack with coco. You should let them know you're running coco so they can add gypsum (sulfur) to the mix since coco doesn't have it. Or I would recommend supplementing with a cup of it per 4 cubic ft.

Are you re-using the soil? I know some people who are amending it at a rate of 1/4 nutrient pack to 4 nutrient packs per yard of soil depending on the EC/ppms of their runoff. It should be around 6500 ppms at the start of the cycle.

Hope that helps!

What strain are you runnin?

I'm not doing anything special, got one of them KIS nute packs, mixed it in some coco with some wormpoo and water with ACT. Just been watering with tap+a splash of foxfarm's sledgehammer since week 4, trichs are explodin. The nute pack's pretty special, sounded like a jackpot when I found it. (thanks surfguitar)

How much of each? At what ratios?

If I remember correctly, it's supposed to be about a cup of KIS to a gallon of mix. Is that about what you're using?

4 cu ft coco, 5 gallons of EWC and the nute pack. Followed their directions for the most part except swapping the moss for coco and going for about 10% EWC.

On those ones all water for the first month was ACT gonna cut that down to once a week this round. Found a hydro shop that carries Dr Earth so I'm gonna be experimenting with making my own nute packs now. :good:

Ello. Thought I'd chime in here for the first time.
Awesome seeing the successful amended organic coir set you have going. Great job! I have few questions regarding pot size.
Are the current pots your running sufficient?
Do you think a bigger pot would be benefitial?
Could you veg 8 weeks in your pot size with 50% coco 40% perlite 10% vermicompost mix?
What size do think if not?
Thanks and keep up the show!!!
Peacerdown!

In my pots (4.5gal) I think you can veg/flower in the same pot I'm not sure about the 2gals which seems to be the coco growers pot of choice. w/ ACT and maybe a pinch of P guano in the tea I'm sure it'd work out but how well. (?) I'm (trying to be) a perpetual grower so the mix was always intended just for flower for me, that gives me three runs and the third just started so I'll let you guys know if things start going yellow or if there's something beyond my experience that starts going down with em. Think I'm gonna get some dirty veg+bloom just in case, been hearing/seeing good things about them folks. Earth Juice? Maybe. Hydro shop I mentioned in my last post has them too, always wanted to check EJ out but shipping on liquids...meh.

it'll work. earthworm castings are primed with 60,000 species of fungus and bacteria so a bag of that will speed up your composting times, throw a cup in with the banana peels and wutnot and you'll have some high quality compost. Fruit peels are heavy on potassium, cant really hurt anything with organic P I don't think so fruit peels are your friend.

I bought the Roots Organics EWC ....one sec. Posted this in my thread after I got a PM..

Got a PM asking what I was doin as far as the organic coco is concerned so I'll break down my method...

4cu ft cocotek $20
5gal RO Big Worm EWC $30 (cu ft bag actually)
1 KIS nutrient pack $40

Growing the bombest weed you've ever grown: Priceless.

But back to basics, in hindsight, that mix needs composting, gnats REALLY, REALLY love freshly ground crabs and kelps and such, so I'd say throw all that stuff together on a tarp and mix it up and let it compost. You could probably just compost the KIS pack and the EWC in a composter then mix it into the coco, maybe 1/1/1 coco/ewc/KIS for the compost stage then add and mix it into the rest of the coco. After that it's ready to go.

My tea is a little different too, I fill my watering can, add 2 tblsp of molasses (Grandma's Robust ) bubble for 10min, add 1 yogurt cup EWC and bubble for 12-24hr. Then I water like regular, no diluting or anything. Gonna cut this down to once a week next round.

and about the Roots Big Worm castings - "Our worms are carefully tended and fed an unparalleled blend of organic compost, rock dust and kelp for exceptional quality castings. " so they might be the best wormpoo available, I know I'm liking it.

That's about it. Oh yeah I've been watering with Sledgehammer since week 4, it's foxfarm's rinse bottle, 10% saponin, plants can use the saponin and myco likes to eat saponin K now that's about it. Chop day tomorrow, gotta go sharpen up my chainsaw.

Oh yeah forgot what I was saying... "Our worms are carefully tended and fed an unparalleled blend of organic compost, rock dust and kelp for exceptional quality castings. " it's good wormpoop.
