Another week has passed and the ladies are starting to show some bud.

Chocolope

Chemdawg

Trainwreck

Trainwreck seed branch

It is the end of the third week and time to test out that frozen pollen from Eminem. I took a small paint brush and dabbed the bristle ends into the pollen. The pollen stick to the bristles and I brushed it on. I tied a piece of plumber's tape to identify the branch.

An interesting leaf in the lower right corner. That was caused by my spraying neem oil while the lights were on. I learned my lesson and now spray with the lights off.

Now is time for the teenage line up. Here is a group picture of my teenager area. It is getting to be more than I bargained for. I'm thinking I will have to cut down some of these. Hard choices are ahead in Pakalolo's cellar.

you do nice work brother..

and you're really on a roll with the composting and ewc. I'm way new to the organic game, and looking forward to everything thawing outside so i can get the composting, leaf mold etc started.

have a good weekend man..

Thanks AW, but if you followed me from the start you would know that I began this organic growing with my first soil mix on Halloween last year.

I'm busy doing outside vegetable garden and some cellar garden this weekend.

I was checking out my seedlings and I'm started to notice that the Mazar x Guerrero, Overlord and one of the Halo 2X are showing male signs. If this turns out to be true then I will give them a quick and merciful death and compost them.

That mazar cross looks amazing.. hit me up
if you think it's a male, with those genes it
would be wise to make a makeshift tent out
of pandafilm away from the girls and harvest
his pollen; It would be cool to dust Chocolope!

I've tried the SST, foilier sprays, silica in every watering, etc. I really haven't noticed huge differences in the growth of the plants. So for my third round of organic grow, ie the teenagers, I'm going minimalist on them and giving them just water. If I think I'm running into problems then I might do a nutrient tea but for now just plain water. So far the teenagers are looking great. I'll be posting my weekend pictures in a day or two.

I've been thinking a lot about this lately. I've read the posts and follow other grow journals. It just seems to me that there is tendency to not follow LITFA by some. I'm not saying that they are wrong or that I am right. What I'm experiencing in my limited knowledge of organic growing is it is all about the soil food web. If you create a living organic soil then water should be all that you need. So my focus is more on the soil then on the plants. That is why I've changed up my soil mix a little by adding more diversity to it. My thinking is to make available the most variety and let the microbes decide what they want to use. It all boils down to having good EWC/compost and I'm pleased with both the vermicompost and my outdoor compost.

I'm not telling anyone that they should believe or do what I'm doing. I'm just trying to find my own way to growing organically. I'm trying to keep it simple.

I've got more Mazar x Guerrero seeds so I'm just going to let this one go. I've got 2 breeding males that are sativa dominant, Eminem and MTV. I'm going to keep them around for breeding purposes. I just don't have room for more males. I can isolate them in the little house. My plan with the 2 big males is to keep them going until mid May and then flower them out. I'll breed them to Goblin Girl, Goblin Queen and Original Halo and put them outside in 6 gallon pots this summer. Then I should be 'swimming' in seeds.

Damn good example.
Plenty of silica, sprouting seeds, minerals, whatever in good compost. I notice the dogs drinking water from under one of my worm pots. About ready to try it myself. It's gotta be healthy.
I do foilier to cool things off sometimes. It doesn't hurt to wash them off either, but it really isn't standard practice. Sometimes it's just busy work.
Nice job.

Thanks h.h. for the acknowledgement. Washing the plants off with plain water in my mind isn't considered a foilier. I go with a regular IPM (integrated pest management) program that does require spraying but I don't consider this a foilier spray either. I'm only talking about what growers do to 'improve' their grows by augmenting with foilier sprays or various teas for drenching the soil.

I know what you mean. I don't really even use pest management, but then I'm in the dry desert. We do get an occasional caterpillar outburst. Integrating more flowers in the garden pretty much took care of everything. More predators.
I do find some teas made with high silicon, high saponin, high humus compost, when used as foilier, seems to help with the hot dry summers here. Sort of an weak antitranspirant. Generally antitranspirants get a bad rap, so I don't know.

Thanks h.h. for spending the time to read these posts. I'm living in the PNW so my climate is the opposite of yours.

End of week 4

End of week 4

The buds are forming and I couldn't be happier. This run is pest free thanks to the regular IPM I've been using. Every 3rd day is CC's recipe of 1 tablespoon of neem oil thoroughly mixed with 1 tablespoon of ProTeKt. I add this to almost a gallon of warm water and shake it up. Then I add 1/4 cup of aloe vera juice and really shake it like I hate it. Once a week on the off NPA days I spray Serenade (bacillium subtilis) and once a week I spray Spinosad (bacteria culture).

Chocolope

Chemdawg

Trainwreck

I topped these before I moved them to the flower area. It looks like I'm getting more buds sites across the canopy. I'll have to see how well they fatten up.

I haven't really noticed much in the way of seed production but its only been one week.

Here is the seedlings but I going to change up a little bit on the display. They are starting to get tall so most of them need to have their pictures on the floor because they don't fit on the cloning table anymore. These are the seedlings I'm watching that are beginning to show male characteristics.

Overlord

Mazar x Guerrero

Halo 2x

These plants are showing little tiny pollen sacs or at least the start of them. They're also taller than most of the other seedlings. I should know by next weekend and if they're males these will be the last pictures because I'm feeding them to worms. I've got Eminem and MTV males from my frozen seed collection so I don't need anymore pollen right now.

Your garden is looking great Pako! The bloomers are looking awesome, now just wait a few more weeks:) The babes are looking ready to really bust out, im super stoked to see what they can do

Everyone does things a little differently, theres no "right" or "wrong" just what works for the individual. It makes me really happy to see you finding your groove, its a beautiful thing:) I agree that simplicity is key; I seem to have this urge to always be doing something so Im trying to nail down what I actually need to be doing in order to be effective. For now doing the sprouts thing is fun and at least the worms in my beds love them if the plants dont and I do think some side by sides are needed in the near future. My friend has alot of the same kinds as me and there is a definite difference in stem strength which I attribute to the Si I use; Im trying to get him to use it for a bit so we can compare again but it hasnt happened yet. Ive been having to leave my girls in smaller pots for too long and theyve been getting rootbound so Ive had to help them out more than usual with teas but now that shouldnt happen anymore or at least as much so Ill be sticking to just water with SST/Si/fulvic sometimes. This is fairly simple but maybe I could get it pared down even more; thank you for inspiring me to look closer into what Im doing. Good humus as a foundation and then him to mineral/organic matter diversity, thats a great plan dude and it looks like its working for you!

I think I was rambling a bit there, Im sorry if that was too much

Thank you for the updates, Ill be around to check out whats going on again soon

Keep up the goodness!
