Because you're a noob to the vert game.

Bare bulb verts rule my friend and are the most effucient way of growing whether it be v sog,v scrog, bushes,or trees.

But a strict bare bulb doesn't make much sense logically.

The OP is growing in a 4X4 tent. This is where vert makes the most sense of all. Lets see you get your two hoods in that tent. Won't happen with your raptors.

No way a bare bulb can compare heat wise to an air cooled reflector. In a small tent the walls of the tent are youre reflector.Move your setup to a 12x12 room and the inefficiency of a bare bulb will show.Every light source ever invented includes a reflector for good reason.

In smaller spaces bare bulbs work because the walls bounce the light back.I would be more inclined to purchase an air cooled vertizontal reflector.

So a bare bulb has a reflector huh? Last I checked it was a light source. In fact it is the light source you are trying to focus where you want it. That is exactly what a vert setup does. It focuses the light directly onto the plants and not on a hood.

A 12X12 is not what he is growing in so this is a irrelevent argument. In that 12X12 room you could do many bare bulbs as you could also do many hoods if you wanted to. Vert excells in small places where you can stack multiple bulbs and grow up instead of flat.

Your last statemnet is the only logical argument I can see.

I wasnt arguing.Obviously reflectors and bare bulbs both have their uses.I think that at this stage in life the op could use a reflector or cfl bulbs.just my opinion.Ill keep my thoughts to myself as not to plug his thread with arguments.

but why would he benefit? in vert set ups u want the plants vegging round the bare bulb as theyl be flowered that way, train it for max side canopy spread to soak up all those lumens

That's where you're wrong.

As the late and great DHF always preached...veg under horizontal lights to get nodes stacking both vertically and sideways to stack canopy, then flower with vertical bare bulbs for ultimate stretch bith up and sideways.

Hello everybody. Your criticism and opinions are always welcome. Everyone has their own preference on how they like to do things. I appreciate all the input.

Day 10:

On todays update I moved some plants around to where they'll be comfortable. I watered all 9 of them. Here's pictures of my two biggest and of all 9. Also snapped some pics of my flowering tent.

P.s. Anyone know how to edit my original post?

good luck.what type of carbon filter is that?if it is too small it will be a big pain to install a bigger one in the middle of flower with the tent loaded with plants.

It's an ipower carbon filter. It fits perfectly on my 6" exhaust fan . Why would it be too small?

Btw crane, the only next to quote is quick reply and multiquote.

a small filter adds more restriction and lowers your air movement. i have used a budget filter that was bigger then that and had to replace in the middle of the cycle due to smell issues.over kill on air flow and filtration is a good thing.

I completely understand where you're coming from. Although, the other pair I got for my smaller tent is smaller. Most likely I'll end up throwing another 6" with another one of those filters along with a stacked 600w. That's what I'm thinking about right now, lol. Either way, I've got about a month and a half before the flip. Thanks for the heads up, 420, I really appreciate it.

ID say ditch the filter now,and try it when things get stinky. When i took my filter off i noticed the fan blew out more air.I bought a cheapo just like that it lasted for a year and knocked the smell down pretty good.

Crane, I'll start posting more often to unlock my edit. Thanks for the info.

Toker, I just got my thermometer and my veg. tent temps. are at 79. So I'll leave it on till things get hectic.

Marlo, thanks for stopping by. Lots more to come!

Day 11:

I'm shocked at how much they grow in just one day. I took pics of the setup along with the temps. Btw, welding glasses work great. I highly recommend them.

Day 14:

Another watering down. I raised the light because they don't seem to be growing vertically. Wondering if I should move this thread to the indoor grow journals
