Marijuana No More Dangerous than Alcohol - Obama

O

OGShaman

I certainly prefer cannabis over those Newport 100's Obama smoked for years :joint:

well......he's been seen on camera drinking a pint of ale, so when he goes to Colorado or Washington, he should be seen on camera puffing on a spliff!

I'm with Wierd and boombadil.

For me it's medicine not a vice, period. My brother in law is addicted to scratchy lotto tickets to the point where he is wasting money that he needs to live. That, my friends, is a vice...a state sanctioned vice...in Obama's home state no less.

This sounds like double speak to me.

Look, we all know that if Obama wasn't President, or in some very important position, he'd be tokin' up like us, at least when Michelle isn't looking.

Then again Michelle too often looks like she really needs a joint. Sometimes it looks like she just did one! :)

So yeah, he's being hypocritical, however, it's his political position (president) speaking, not the real Barry.

So get on the cannawagon Mr. and Mrs. Obama. Don't be on the "wrong side of history." (love that quote!)

Remember, Barry has another three years (exactly, I think) to right the wrongs to America's cannabis culture.

Weird - ground yourself. You are measured in thought, now we need you calm enough to explain bullshit to the proles and lay-people.

I think he means to say it's way better, and that extra things we call "vices" don't do anything for society.

He is wrong, because it's a common myth that it doesn't motivate you, or you become amotivational.

A vice is your anti-anxiety medication becoming addictive, or state-sponsored gambling, or packs of cigarettes stamped with your state on it, or alcohol taxes, or you like your pain meds too much.

Those things are horrible. When is there an anxiety balance in relation to benzo's? They depopulate your coping receptors, leaving you dependent on them! Then pain meds are bad too. Doesn't matter if you're responsible.

Me? I smoke to get motivated. No kidding I will hit a bong, clean, play video games, will actually tolerate people.

It's all in my will power to not get really high before driving, or using it when I feel sad, or using it to escape.

What is escape? Reality TV, video games, a book, workoholic, cleaning non-stop, paying attention to everything around you. Now the TV news show tells you it's an "escape" like you're some kind of pussy.

All those things are escapes from oneself, and all things can stop happiness or bring it - it depends on the balance.

But what we really do, is to escape our mind's silence, because we're afraid of that.

We are afraid of ourselves - many times the beast in your dream, are you latent violent frustrated emotions, and the way you cope is to say these feelings are not yours and you disembody them, and it only appears an aggressor in your dreams.

They could also say it makes you dumb, but for me that padding, that dumbness allows me to think. My thoughts are so fast - they rush like ocean waves and crash together if they happen too fast. but flow past each other when they aren't so rushed.

here is why i take exception to his proclamation

"It’s not something I encourage, and I’ve told my daughters I think it’s a bad idea, a waste of time, not very healthy,"

it is a medicine, it transforms live for the better as you testify yourself.

what I tell my children is while it can be used in a recreational manner its true nature is medicinal and it should be regarded as such.

why should people who smoke be judged as making a bad decision that is unhealthy and a waste of time

So, where are the people that are getting locked up for "not long stretches" for alcohol if cannabis is safer/less harmful?

Aaaand, what about Obama's beer summit...or whatever the f' it was called?

Get ready for legal weed...big government GMO style....

sometimes the grass isn't always greener on the other side...I'm all for legal weed...and when I say legal I mean legal and free to grow and do what I want with no regulation...this shit of legal weed is nothing more then a revenue generator...hell they need something to attempt to pay for the 1.1T budget they passed with out reading.

And once they get their grubby little paws on it...it will turn to shit just like everything else they touch.

Yes, but if his daughter doesn't need medicine, she doesn't need it.

She doesn't need it anymore than skydiving or remote control cars, but that would be a waste, if one weren't interested in it.

It's not that she won't do it - it's that she has other things filling up her time.

Back to the "vice" thing people seem to think I mean.

I put it in quotes because it's obviously subjective.

I cannot for the life of me see how a supposedly intelligent man that is doing what his advisors tell him to do tells us that marijuana is no more dangerous than alcohol when no one dies from MJ yet booze is legal kills people costs police & medical services billions a year etc etc .

you can use marijuana as a medicine and recreationally without it being a vice as it is one of the most bio-compatible and benign substances we can imbibe

it is not physically addictive although mentally ill people can abuse anything and if someone is abusing pot it is a behavioral abnormality that is caused by other dysfunction and not the substance itself the abuse of the marijuana becomes the symptom

even the notion of altering our state of mind being a vice is primitive for it is not what we put in out minds or bodies but the resulting causation that dictates good, bad or otherwise.

the only negative effects of marijuana I have seen manifest are actually the effects of prohibition, not the plant itself.

never trust a person with less than 3 vices

so what is the platform to have the schedule 1 classification changed anyway?

Because booze=good old booze and marijuana= the boogie man to Mr. and Mrs. America.

Beer/wine/spirits companies are lobbying against legalization, because, if this marijuana thing catches on, they'll sell less booze.

Vice - A minor bad habit

It's a minor bad habit to be doing something that doesn't complete a goal- like taking to much time to eat food, or playing on a cell phone, or taking too much time on the phone.

Vices are society's view of things.
They celebrate alcohol, and they will say it's a vice -but not consider and abstain as if it were a vice.

First, it's an opinion on what is right. Society's opinion.

Also vices can be personal, such as someone having the habit of saving small nasty roaches, and someone thinking they shouldn't smoke it all, or just put in an insert. And the same person smoking the roaches thinking the other people who don't - just waste.

Anyway, I never personally said it was a vice. I said it's a "vice" because that is what others view it as.

Then you'll say it's not,.

Then I will again say, it's societies opinion.

Then you will say their opinion is wrong.

Then I will say you're choosing their morals.

Then you will say there is nothing immoral.

Then I will say morality is subjective.

Then you will say there is nothing wrong with herb.

Then I will say morality is subjective, and that texting, playing internet games, eating food when you don't have to, is to do something other than one's studies and goals. These things are not bad, but they take up time. Like I said, she has other things to do, and to improve upon. I never said she shouldn't do drugs, because everyone should smoke weed. I am just saying she doesn't have time. She doesn't have time to hold a poker game, to text a lot when she has other goals. When you do things besides what you do, and people think they can make the choice for you - that is wrong.

I like snowboarding. Should people view it as a vice? NO. But say if you had to study, and you were snowboarding instead.......VICE.

So you can see why smoking it is, but not the drug in and of itself.

i always hoped that Obama would become more 'supportive' of MJ in his second term.

i think you need to be realistic about how he starts to go about that, personally if our UK prime minister said anything like that i would be celebrating, big time.

my thoughts exactly vg, this is going somewhere. he'd never have said that if something wasn't about to happen. everyone is picking apart the words but it seems like a carefully crafted deal, easy to defend himself from if folks raise hell that he said it, but testing the waters before jumping in. I personally don't care what the language is as long as the result is what we all want.
