Howdy doody ?

I remember the Howdy Doody show with Buffalo Bob, just barely though. That's some early television.

Was just reading about the show and learned that the original Clarabell the Clown was played by a guy named Bob Keeshan who got fired in a salary dispute in 1952. Keeshan later went on to become Captain Kangaroo.

Any Seattle natives remember JP patches? I'm sure every big city had a guy like this. The last generation of old men that liked kids, who you could trust your kids with, for the day!

I remember watching the "Beatles" on the Ed Sullivan show for the 1st time.

Sammy Terry was the ultimate horror show host, the Cool Ghoul from Cincy area was good too.

So, has anyone been able to figure out what a "magic twanger" is yet?? :whistling:

My EX-husband had a "Magic Twanger".
However, I am doubting that is the same "twanger" good ol' froggy had.

1) Watching the live broadcast of Neil Armstrong "One small step for man, One Giant Leap for Mankind."

2) When complete written instruction manuals came with everything~even PC's.

July 20, 1969. I gave my youngest daughter the middle name Moon because her birthday is July 20.

I'm just one of them damn filthy hippies I guess, about some things anyway. I just wash, cut my hair, shave, and I'm kinda conservative about some things sometimes. My personal attitude is anyone can/should be able to do whatever they want, until that action infringes on my life somehow. No manuals does that infringing thing. Brave new world, eh? :)

I relied on my memories of sixty years ago, but when I looked on internet I found my memory was wrong, froggy was actually an andy devine thing, I guess howdy and andy had adjoining time slots and my memory blurred them together, I still miss froggy

and many thought those were too violent, back then!

When electronics had knobs and came with understandable printed directions--complete; Just bought something and had to go to the internet to find the 'failure' light code. F8 means it is broken. Without the internet I wouldn't know that.
I still expect things to work after purchase. Someday I'll grow into this new world.

"Moon" cute hippy style! Glad you left the beam off, or is that the middle name?

DOH! :) No "beam". Just Sarah Moon did consider adding "shadow" cause I like Cat Stevens.

I got a surround sound/dvd player a few years ago that came with the manual on a disk. But then the disk wouldn't open on the dvd player itself but had to be opened on the computer. I found that strange.

I have an issue with some remotes too. I have a older VCR that you have to use a remote to change the tape speed, no menu button is on the main unit. Then the remote stopped working so I can't change the tape speed. Even universal remotes won't work for that . DOH! I liked to use that feature too. I bought a dvd player online from Australia when I was stationed in Germany. You can shut off all that scrambling copy protection on dvd's and record them. But the quality needs the fast speed on the VCR to work right. NUTS!

I loved Howdy Doody too except everyone picked on me about looking like him. I don't remember froggy and his "magic twanger". Maybe I'm a perv but that don't sound right.

"Beep, beep", vroom! "Ehh, what's up doc?"
