New Grow

Seedlings need next to no light, and a "stretch" as they get oriented and burst through the ground is normal. The greater concern for quick rooting is temperature, and how close you have the light will help regulate that better if it's 24/0 lighting.

The term stretch refers to internodal spacing - the distance between branch sites. If you post pictures throughout the course of your grow we can show you exactly what we mean. But that's not a stretch problem that's just normal seedling behavior.

I wouldn't use the humidity dome for seeds though. They don't need it but do need a bit of air circulation. Just make sure not to let the pods get totally dry and you'll be in good shape.

I meant to say (if it's 24-0 lighting). If it's only 18/6 it wouldn't be a constant heat source, in which case you'd want to keep it higher up to avoid big day/night fluctuations.

Hey jj I am a fellow hydro grower and wanted to pitch in a few words. Your ldies are looking like they are progressing just fine. You just have to make sure the cubes dont fully dry out. your light seems about right as well. I have a few questions for you about your hydro system. Are you planning on putting them into bigger rockwool cubes or how will your hydro be set up? I ask because i have been putting the 1 inch rockwools into the 5.5 inch rockwools once i throw them into the hydro table. you could check out my post and ask questions if needed. I would also like to say that the strawberry in my hydro has been rocketing and i had to top it a little to keep it from towering over the others. make sure you have a good root system and have roots hanging out of the 1 inch rockwool before transfering. good luck on your hydro :)

My biggest concern with my first grow in hydro was dealing with spider mites. I couldnt controll them and i basically didnt get much of anything for buds so that was sad, but i have cleaned the area and everything and there are NO spider mites this grow:) Also you should get some of those white squares that go on top of the rockwool cubes because ur roots will come through the top a little and need covered. It also helps to keep from getting algea in the rockwools. how big is your hydro set up going to be?

my setup is 24 pots :) i have a big room plenty of space for a grow. the whole room was disinfected before we started. The walls have been lined with Light Block Plastic Sheeting, all the carpet has been ripped up and then replaced with plastic so we have a great clean environment.

pictures attached from today 1 week old 40 plants :)

nice they look happy. I would probably wait until they are about 5 or 6 inches with a good root system before putting them into the bigger rockwool.

also when do you think i can remove the plastic dome ? and expose the the plants. One last question i have started my next lot of seeds, i have planted them in the rockwool with the pointy end down ? flat side up does it make a difference if so and the root comes out first can i just turn them around ?

They are still looking good I personally dont use a dome over any of my seedlings. I have a t5 light which isnt too intense for the little ladies. When i planted the seeds i didnt worry about how they were and you shouldnt either all your ladies will grow towards the light even from a seedling. Little word of advice the 1 inch rockwool fit quite perfectly into the 5.5 rockwools. once you put your seed in the rockwool you should not i repeat not try flipping it or moving it incase you damage it and keep it from growing. Your ladies will find the light on their own hence why i dont use a dome

Same lights I have so u could just take dome of now. Thanks for advice so seeds will right themselves

yes they will be fine without the dome and yes any plant that grows up towards light will find its way to light even if its upside down. Good luck with your grow :)
