If you could move anywhere in the US to grow....

where would you move?

I could care less about laws. ....for now (edit)

I care more about land and low priced housing. I want to rent.

My goal is to get in and get out within a year. I have the knowledge to make it happen, but I would like to get ideas about the where the best environment to do so would be....

if you grow, laws have to be a big consideration
otherwise Florida could be tempting, low property costs and very long outdoor grow season
but i don't see too many growers heading to Florida, or they keep quiet about it

I could care less about laws.

Might want to reconsider that.

I mean, why not factor that into your decision? The feds just said they aren't messin with anyone in a med state. Plus, even if you dont plan on getting a card, why take a chance in non-med state if u dont have to. They give out years for growing, in my state. just sayin.

Have you seen their laws in FL? Nobody in their right mind would outdoor in FL.

ive been doing it for over a decade without giving my name to the government. I would like to be able to one day give them my name, but not until laws become more intriguing to me. As they are right now, they just arent intriguing.

I honestly was looking into starting somewhere illegally then when things start taking a better turn on a federal level (Even more so then they recently have) then I will not hesitate to get involved in the industry on a legal level....

p.s. i will be going the indoor route at first.... .i would like to find a house with lots of land and privacy so that i may evolve to the outdoors

As for low priced housing Iowa's dirt cheap I hear.

...Zillow says Iowa's expensive. You can buy a house in detroit for $20K though just so ya know.

If you're plannin to run hard for a year, wouldn't it benefit you to care about whether or not its legal? A lot of landlords in states with med or rec states are going to be aware of growers coming in and watch out for you. Prices in a med or rec legal state also have the habit of being lower than in illegal states as a very rough general rule. Planning on moving to a new area and moving a lot, but don't even know if you'll have a single known contact there? Hope you're amazing at background searches and ear to the street detective work to avoid snitches.

Are you going to need to find work there to pay the bills for the first 4 or 5 months or are you set?

Maybe think about Maine, but don't register for a med card. 99 plants is a misdemeanor, unless that changed recently. Though I'm sure, especially with out-of-staters, if you're caught, they'll hit you with a bunch of other charges no matter where you are. If growing indoor, move to the North half of Maine. Save a ton of cash on cooling bills and heat the house in the winter with lights. You have Boston a few hours away, cape cod, and a few big vacation towns on the coast as well.

Know that in a lot of rural places, you'll be dealing with actual landlords instead of (more predictable) property maintenance companies. If you're looking rural, successful blue collar worker is often a safe image to project.

i have approximately 20k cash to start with. All genetics on hand. I will also have a truck and a 20 foot cargo trailer to assist me. I am also a hard worker with over a decade of growing experience. I can grow some super nice nugs and i have much documented work here on icmag on another name that was retired.

I am just looking for ideas. thanks to all for everything said so far and keep it coming please. This is something I obviously cannot talk to friends and family about. Speaking of friends and family i understand that I will be leaving them behind. My goal is to hit it and spit it. Grow as much as possible as quickly as possible and stash it away until the grow is complete then I plan on selling it off to someone from the home land.

There are many benefits to being far from friends and family when it comes to accomplishing my goal....

I do plan on one day being legal, but until then i have groundwork to lay....

The best state I've visited and seen so far has been Rhode Island.I know I'm going to be neg repped into damnation but the place is beautifull and has great growing potential. The coast there is so nice it'll make ya' cry and it's very canna friendly.I would say California if you're a west coast fellow but RI is a very free state compared to the rest.If I wasn't bogged down in Massachusetts, I'd be in RI asap. I think my friends in RI grow well enough that outside competition shouldn't worry them. I'd buy a mansion in Watchill and light that place up!!!:)

I dunno Superman, Rhode Island is a pretty place. As you said great fishing both fresh & salt water, and beautiful coast. I have a small rental on Cape Cod that I would trade in heartbeat for larger place in say Jamestown or Sekonnet Point. That and 25' Boston Whaler and I would pretty much set. Chasing yellow tails and stripers all day long, throw a couple lobster pots out while I'm at it. Decent climate for an outside grow as well. What more ya need?

not sure where you are from or how far you want to travel but I hear Upstate New York is a good area... I was looking at moving up there but it is hard to buy a house without paperwork to prove you can pay for it...

renting is a whole nother ball game...

check it out man... good luck...

PA isn't that bad either.. lot's of places to choose from...

I would look into places that have traditionally always been "out in the middle of nowhere" but that are about to be built up due to running out of places to build things. What I'm referring to here are places like up in north Montana, Wyoming, and Idaho. It gets cold as fuck up there, as far as I understand it, but I've heard that these places have a low unemployment rate and there are developers trying to get people to migrate out there so that capitalism can flourish. I've heard there are incentives for moving there.

Worth checking out. It's beautiful up there!
