Hi D9,

Glad to hear you're doing better. I've been long term lurking and just about to fire up the cab for another run.

Have you heard from IF recently?

If my counting is correct today is your last day of therapy so congratulations on completing it. We all hope this is the end of your health problems and that you can return to full strength. Trees ftw!

does anyone know if its safe to switch over to the 8 on 4 off(repeat) lighting schedule from 24/7 or should i just stay the course?

it's ok to switch straight from 24//7 to 8-4-8-4. you are not giving enough continuous darkness to trigger flowering.

nice, that will save me on some lighting and cooling costs. thanks d9

Just thought i'd toss this out there as another option. I use 12 on, 5 off, 2 on, 5 off, for my veg schedule. Works great, saves power, growth is the same as 24/7 lighting for me, and nothing is trying to flower. Less strain on your HID bulbs also, as they only turn on/off twice per day.

maybe im missing something, but can someone explain how this is saving on lighting costs? you are still using the same amount of Kw/h in a 24hr period. I understand that allowing the room to cool during lights out would save on cooling, but i don't understand power savings.

You get the growth of 24/7 lighting
Only using 12 hours of power. With 12-5-2-5

8/4 gives a little less growth rates and uses just a touch more power.
At least that's how I take it...

My lights run for 10 hours less per day (14 hours total, instead of 24). So in addition to saving 10 hours worth of light power everyday, i'm also not using 10 hours worth of cooling power. Saves a good amount of power actually, and the growth rates are the same.

i see, i guess it would be a significant savings for those normally run their lights 24/7 never heard of anyone doing this, or why. plants need a dark period

I'm using 8-4-8-4 and am happy with the growth rates and electrical savings.

I'll jump onto that bandwagon DH. I'm 7 weeks in and the girls are just fucking awesome. Huge hard buds. No res change outs during 4 weeks of veg thru now. I have almost quit checking ph and EC. I've tried lots of different ways of growing over the years but this beats everything else hands down imho. I hope D9 figures out a way to make a killing selling this system because he sure deserves it.

finally starting to feel human again. thank you all again for the support!

here is the last plant to be grown using 2 lights. still the "dope" plant from drgreenthumb.

from now on the plants will be grown using 3 lights per plant. 5 plants staggered in between 5 1k's and 2 600's.

Can you say fuck yes! Beautiful work as always D9 :respect:

How much you pulling off those monsters these days?

well, this one is still drying but the one before it went 29 oz's. this one is slightly bigger.

but in general i would say i averaged 17-18 per plant with this scheme. with the "dope" plant. when i wasn't feeling well.

i hope to break the 2 lb barrier with the 3 light set up.

what is reflected here is that with the 2 light arrangement i was taking a plant that wants to grow round and making it grow flat and spread out by tying all branches up to only 2 wires about 8" apart.

the problem with this is that it is a shitpile of work. the more time you put in the higher the yield.

i'm putting 3' diameter 6' tall cages around them now that should eliminate most of the work.

still running perpetual but harvesting every 2 weeks instead of weekly.

so just to pull the same i have to break 2 lbs per plant. this should not be too hard to do with the new arrangement considering what my last plants have done.
