I don't know how much the undercurrents run, but I know if ya added the money I've spent at home depot and lowes you'd be most of the way to a car. I got this problem where I'm always thinking up a different idea a month after I got the last one installed. And it's just right there down the road, open late, everything you need for a project! Ain't that the damn truth. I enjoy plumbing...inserting tab A into slot B but hell fire why do they have to have 10 different types of piping for any little job. Assembling the parts is fun, hunting all them SOBs down in the store is a major PITA!

My ppk system build saga continues, after a lot of thinking and reading thru problems with the carlon fittings leaking around the main supply and return lines I decided to use regular cpvc 1/2" adapters because they have a true pipe thread. The taper provides an interference type fit that is not prone to leaks whereas the carlon straight fitting with no taper depends on bottoming out against the shoulder or o-ring if you use them. I've installed the cpvc adapters without any glue but I did use teflon tape. I glued in a short stub of pipe to clamp the water hose to. The pipe is 5/8th" OD, perfect for the water lines to attach to.

Also when threading the pvc supply and return lines you can stop threading when you have 2 whole threads showing above the tapped hole. By not running the tap down all the way the threaded hole is smaller than if threaded all the way down. This allows a tighter fit when you install the fitting.

I can't guarantee this method is better than D9s but it makes more horse sense to me seeing as people are getting leaks.

Ya know AD....I`ve got some beans up my sleeve from several giftings in the last few yrs when my closest Bro`s knew I hadta shut down cuz they also knew at some point in the game I`d set a headies room up for arthritis and insomnia maintenance......but.....

I`ve only made beans "accidently" once when a weird ass Purplewreck hermied and pollinated itself , so I`m not sure I`ll ever have patience to breed pot plants cuz ya`ll boys in medville are sooo better equipped to do so , although BOG pioneered "Rocky Mtn High" while still bein in a non-med legal state , so.....

Anything`s possible but.....Since I shut down , it`s hard to get motivated ta grow dope again when I get regular care packages 4-5 times a yr from my clone factory growbro`s cuz I hooked em up on perpetual schedules many many yrs ago....regardless.....

I wonder what would happen if you coated the inside of a ppk with some of that copper paint, spin-out or the like? Would you perhaps lose root mass?

I did that Big_John. I believe I got plenty of roots, but more so because I defoliated a lot. Removing leaf mass in clones produces more roots and I believe the same is true of any stage of growth. These roots were grown in desert humidity..or lack there of as well. I didn't get amazing results. I believe what D9 and HL45 have proved is that large amounts of roots are not needed. The amount of root mass they have in contrast to their huge plants isn't that much from what I've observed. I'm still curious how big of a plant this root mass could have supported if it would have had way more space and lighting.

I think I'm done growing and medicating. I just want to say that the PPK was something I really enjoyed being a part of and best wishes to those who continue to refine it.

The key to a tight fit with the adapters is to leave a few threads on the tap when you thread the hole. Since the thread is tapered the hole gets bigger the further you thread the tap in. The fit is much looser if you thread the tap all the way down so I leave 2-3 threads above the surface of the pipe.

i am building my first ppk.i am using the three gallon roughneck totes.i am wondering on how much volume of the pump i need for the smaller container.each of my systems will have 4 plants.for less then half the volume of turface that d9's system runs,do i only need 120gph per plant?if i am running a central res,should i use 1 big pump for all three systems?does anyone have any input on the titan controls timers for the pump?optimal res size for 3 four plant systems?
the cabs will be 4 x4x6 feet with individual 6 inch vortex fans and filters.there will be either 2 600's or 1 600 and 1 400 per cab stacked.any and all help is appreciated.
