They're already making a concerted effort to make Snowden look like just another nutjob. I never watch the networks news anymore because I know they are nothing more than government shills, bullshit artists, and I've heard them say blatant, out-and-out lies and they had to have known those were lies. Usually it was the anti-cannabis rhetoric. But I'm a typical male and sit there with a remote in my hand and bounce all over just landing on stuff that catches my interest, when I do watch the idiot box. But I did catch Scott Pelley on CBS News say he, "....was in the Army less than 5 months before they discharged him." I was expecting more but he left it at that. Yeah dingle-berry, that's because he suffered two broken legs. Dup-de-doo, what idiots. Don't believe a word they say.

the part about Orwell's 1984 that never seemed right was Big Brother watching the peeps through their TVs. and, now, Microsoft has released next gen Kinect, which can recognize 6 peeps in the room, and requires always on Internet connect.

Now, that's convenient, eh?

okay, so NSA may have a gazillion video processors hacking keys, so here's a thought for secure communication. bury all emails in 30 mintues of porn video. they know the message is there, but it would take a LOT more effort to find it. Pipes! we need bigger pipes (for the porn). and the porn industry will explode!

okay, now this is funny ...

NYTimes said:
The next month, Mr. Greenwald said, Mr. Snowden contacted him with an enigmatic e-mail identifying himself as a reader and saying he wanted to communicate about a potential story using encryption. Mr. Greenwald wrote back that he did not have such software. Mr. Snowden later sent him a homemade video with step-by-step instructions for installing it, which Mr. Greenwald watched but never completed.

okay, so somebody from NSA tells him to install email encryption ... and the fool didn't do it? wtf? now i understand why it's called Lame Stream Media.

http://www.kpbs.org/news/2013/jun/10/why-did-edward-snowden-leave-us-army-after-5-month/

"Snowden has apparently attributed the brevity of his stint in the Army to the fact "he broke both his legs in a training accident," according to the Guardian.
The U.S. Army has not confirmed this." What the hell? Are you calling me or them or him a liar?

"broke both legs" lol aka shin splints and stress fractures couldn't hack it, He had a weak body.

He could be lying, he lied about when he was a recruit, He told the Guardian that he "broke his legs" in the army in 2003, the Army says he was in May 2004 to sept 2004. Do you remember the year you went to boot camp dave?

Hello all,

Alternative 1:

Maybe this is a message for everyone to unplug from the technology that is allowing them to track us so easily.

Hard thing to do. Though I personally try to use cash more then the ATM card.

Alternative 2.

Tin foil hats people....that's the future.

Alternative 3; and likely at great risk.

Get involved with our law makers and resolve this...speak out and let your feelings be known.

Carry on.

I'm not sure anything happens to be honest.

It looks to me like American's have been sufficiently indoctrinated and washed such that they tolerate any abuse and subversion of what little rights they have left to have the state "protect" them from the boogey man.

In the end the people get the government they deserve and such seems the sad case with what the US has become these days. We will get tyranny (not that we don't have it already, but now it is overt and out in the open) because it is what we collectively deserve.

you know i was thinking about this in the last days. from what we know the protests that are happening all over Turkey now started with 30 people being tear gassed and chases out of a park. that was enough to get 300 people out the next day, they also got teargassed and chased off, upon which 3000 of them gathered the next day as well as many protests in many other towns. now think about it, they are spitting mad at the way they are being treated by the pigs. this is enough reason for them. there are now hundreds of thousands protesting just in Istanbul alone. how far have we been domesticated in the west that we hardly even dare to protest anything anymore, no matter how important, let alone protesting in solidarity with other protesters being abused. makes you wonder if we are being tranquilized or something in the west. i mean just look at the amount of bs thats going on and on the whole, we just allow it and watch as the totalitarian boot stomps and tear gasses the ever decreasing few who still do dare to protest.

Uh yes. Yes I do. Exactly. Time and place. Everyone who goes in does. But I can certainly understand someone who does just a 5 month stint 10 years ago being a little off. I wouldn't exactly characterize saying 2003 instead of 2004 a lie. No clue what you're trying to say. I'm sure I've have made errors in talking about something I did 10 years ago, but I wasn't trying to lie.

I never knew "shin splints" are broken legs. I guess my brother, a cross country runner, must have broken his legs hundreds of times. So getting broken legs means you can't hack it? We must have different definitions of not being able to hack it. I thought hacking it was a mental thing and had nothing to do with being weak. Never mind, read my sig. Think whatever you want.

You know, we've had something like 400 people arrested in civil disobedience here in NC in the last month or so, "Moral Monday." You can hardly tell when you watch the news, though. A big part of our problem is that our press is in the tank for the Powers That Be (TM).

I think that's part of the problem. We're way more corrupt than other countries. I know someone from Iran who described America as the "perfect dictatorship."

Turkey, the ME, Greece, etc, etc don't have to worry about missing American Idol and Jersey Shore. We are too busy over here for civil disobedience. We don't mind if the boot is put on our throats as long as our head is turned enough so we can see the tv and use our iGadget.

I know someone from Iran who described America as the "perfect dictatorship."
It certainly is. Living outside of the US in third world dictatorships the populace more or less understands that they live in a controlled society. They know their media is controlled, they know the information flow is controlled, and they know who they're oppressors are (for the most part).

Many people at my international school looked at Americans as brainwashed flag waving war mongering consumerist idiots. I always took offense to it when I was growing up, but now after moving back here and living here for a while as an adult I understand their point of view.

We live under a grand delusion that our government is the altruistic protector of "free people" in the world. We do not question the authority or the propaganda fed to us on a daily basis. Brought on by decades of easy money and credit we have become grossly entitled, complacent, apathetic, and dependent on the states tit.

Dissenters are labeled "conspiracy theorist" by the Pavlovian herd as they chase their own tails and argue if the Red Team or Blue Team is worse. The Americans as a collective have really yet to figure out there is only one party and that they are slaves to the financial class and their bought and paid for political lapdogs.

The military industrial complex wages endless wars which we support through our labor. The financial class steals from the working and productive classes while the two classes cheer for them to steal even more through monetary debasement. The media perpetuates the corporatist propaganda and the herd eats up every last bit of it.

We reside in an empire whose citizens suffer from Stockholm Syndrome and for this we are the "perfect dictatorship." Your friend is very much correct.

the news is a big problem, but thanks to reporters like ben swann who is trying to start his own news show to report independently ,we can start hearing more truth out of media.
here is youtube channel with some of his work anyone can just search his name to find his kickstarter project .

he leaves the mainstream guy's in the dust. I guess it's easy when your not trying to lie about everything.
