I've been reading up on blumats for quite some time. picked up a deck and patio set a couple days ago. finally got it all hooked up today. im running 1000w on a 4x4 table, coco-tek w/ perlite and a little hydroton, a 40 gal. rez, only 10 gal starting out though..... "testing the waters" so to speak. mixed up H&G coco a/b and drip clean to .9 ec (.5 scale/450ppm i thought i had read in the blumat thread that you should feed low because your feeding almost constantly.) ill see how they take that for a few days and maybe ill step up the feeding. if your reading this and using blumats... whats your feeding like? ill get some pictures up tomorrow of what im workin with. thanks for stopping by:tiphat:

Think I'll pull up a chair and watch and learn. Blumats, coco, and smart-pots are in my plans for an upcoming grow.

Respect bass

hows it growin everybody? very well i hope. here are the pictures. there are 8 ladies crammed in there. 2x pineapple chunks, 3x lemon skunks, 2x vanilla kush, 1x PPP. they are just starting their 3rd week flower. couple are starting their 2nd week. everything is going smoothly. had my fingers crossed all night that the blumats wouldnt flood or anything. when i set em up lastnight i watered them really well, placed the blumats in and sat them to just barely drip. today none of them are dripping. ill keep an eye on them over the next couple days and make sure the more the coco dries out..... the more they drip. i already love the thought of not having to hand water them anymore....... freedom!

You will love the Blumats, but may I suggest Smart Pots next round? F those white pots!!! Smart Pots are better, and the chance of flooding goes down because they hold more moisture. I had flooding a couple of times using white pots in the past. I believe the water flows like a waterfall against the sides if the drip rate is too much. Good luck

If you keep your ppm's under 1000 @.5 you should be good. You will stunt growth if you don't feed enough though,450 ppm is too low IME.

Also I see some leaf curl, what are your temps on top of the canopy?

thanks for the heads up slowandeasy. smart pots are definitely in line for the next run. maybe even airpots, not quite sure yet. if they flood in the white pots its all good w/ the 4x4 table in there. i dont have the drip turned up far enough yet to get to that point. its definitely gonna take about a week to get em all dialed in

I'm on my first month of blumat+coco+smart pots and am liking it a lot so far. The plants I have it on are such a joy while the others are starting to seem to needy to me. ;)

my temps are actually 74-78. ever since i put it into flower and it stretched, stretched, stretched its very top fan leaves have always done that. the rest of the plant looks great though so im not worried about it

yeah im lovin the blumats so far to. i have 6 other plants in flower that are alot farther along that the ones in my pics, so their not hooked up to the blumats. im just gonna hand feed them since they only have about 2 1/2 3 weeks left

just a small update. the first few are of the PPP ive been hand watering since their on week 6. just hit them w/ bud xl and shooting powder. im interested to see how they respond to that. the last few pics are of the plants that are on the blumats. they seemed very happy, so i upped my ppm's to almost 1000. ill see how they handle that for the next couple days and adjust accordingly. enjoi:wave:

those are pretty small because before the move i was working in a GL80 so i didnt have very much space w/ the light, filter, fan, etc. now im workin w/ 2 4x4 tents so they look super tiny in there hahaha. plenty of room to run some big trees

so do you have to raise your reservoir above a certain height? and how do the blumats connect to the res? is it just a hose that sits in the top or do you have to drill a hole in the bottom and add an attachment?
thanks :)

truescience- i have my rez maybe 1' 1/2- 2' above my pots. yes you have to drill a small hole and put in the fitting that they provide for you. then you just hook up the black tubing to run anyway you want around your space. cut that tubing and insert a blumat dripper wherever you have a pot. pretty simple

I feed using blumats, full-strength pure blend pro, in coco and the plants are absurdly happy. Just be sure to kick the pots weekly to observe if the dripper needs adjustment. Massage/pull the lines a bit every once in a while to perform some preventative maintenance. All good. Yay!
