Um, he probably yields better quality, quantities, both. Not many reasons to change up something like that, in this hobby....
just got a dozen or so chem91 cuts, from what ive seen it looks very similar to some of the OG cuts ive run.
i can also get chem D, and it looks to yield a bit more and have that straight funk to it, i cant decide which i like better...either way gonna try and get the D next.
anyone grew these strains outdoors? im going to put one of the 91s in a 200 gal pot under norcal sun and see how she does....

Yesprop215- I have the chem d at day 66 right now and also a cut of chem91. However, it is not the skunkva cut so a little confused on all that I heard there are up to three cuts of 91. The one I have is like a minature chem d in all departments it seems like, she does have her own shit going on to but the D is just way bigger and just as raunchy. Unless the smoke is seriously different I will be keeping the D she can yiled like a beast. Do you have the skunkva? It is a total different look imo. I had a clone once but it didn't root, luckily someone else who also recieved is about to hook me up! Along with the forum cut of GSC, it will be a good day!
not sure of the exact lineage its from a friend, i saw their version of the chem D and had to buy a bag it was some of the stinkiest chemmy funk ive smoked. cant remember exactly what the 91 looked or smoked like, maybe i shoulda taken the D instead! i saw a chem D in flower as well and the colas were huge i was pretty impressed.

I grew Chem D outdoors last season on 41 lat... put out clones at 6 inches and they were 6 to 7 feet at the end of season they came down about the middle of October..., with a strong garlic butter taste that reminded me of smoke from mid to late 80's...reminded me of a Shiva from around then... definitely strong med's..peace

Nope, not confused buddy, just look around the site a little bit. There are plenty of people doing CMH only grows.
Personally, I run HPS only, even vegging with hps, unfortunately, but it's all about environmental designs and their respective production qualities...
Some people have bucked the HPS norm and moved to solely MH or CMH only from veg to flower. Most of what I've read on the subject is that if you can deal with the extra heat MH entails, and the room is absolutely dialed, better yeilds and higher quality product is attainable.
However, I'd guess it's all pretty subjective, and would also guess, not having experience running dual HPS/MH spectrums at once isn't going to produce massively improved results.
I am planning however, to add a second ballast to my current 600 watts of hps for the spectrum variation, likely just a 400 watt or even 250 since the 1k switchable ballast plus the 600 hps and peripheral current draw would start popping breakers if I run it too.
Before I add that second bulb though, 400 or 250, I'll need an ac. As it stands, at 18/6 it's not quite an ideal situation temp wise, it's close to perfect, but I'm sure that second light source would make it unmanageable without said ac, thus first full run will be hps only...
To each is own, experiment and adjust, though reading the quality posts from respected members until your eyes bleed is the easiest way I know to keep trial and error costs to a minimum.
Hope that helps, but the ticket is to search out the guys growing all MH, all the time as I'm no expert on the subject!
