What mycorrhizae is everyone using?

O

OrganicOzarks

So I have used the shaker from Plant Success, and powder and granular from down to earth, but(I know this is a mega-runon sentence) I am not really seeing any kind of measurable difference. I have done some plants with, and some without, and they both end up the same. Been using mycorrhizae for a few years now, but am beginning to think that the short duration that my cannabis plants are in their pots is not long enough to see any kind of benefit. I see mofo's swear by them, and they get all of these great benefits. However I am not one of those mofo's. Is this mofo just plain retarded?:)

Is this available in the US?

Well it must be, because this is what virtually every US mycorrhizal 'manufacturer' uses in their product. Email me.

Microbeman - I am also curious, if you don't mind posting that in public instead of via email. If not, I understand.

Thanks.

Be sure that whatever product you use it has lots of endo species. Endo is good for your pot & veggies while ecto is more for trees.

I'm not familiar with the recipe of the brands you mention but that could have a lot to do with your success.

The one i use has;

6 species endomycorrhizae
3 species ectomycorrhizae
2 species bacillus
2 species trichoderma
and some other beneficials w/ added organic amendments

OrganicO - I am in the same boat as you. When I use the down to earth brand I find little benefit. I made sure to buy a fresh pack, because I had been using free stuff from hydro shows and was worried about how fresh they were. This also didn't seem to make a difference.

However when I compared to Great White powdered I found my plants really thrived. I usually throw my clones into 16oz keg cups. When using the Great White vs. DtoEarth in a side by side, the Great White roots were super white and wrapping around the cup when the DtoEarth was just beginning to fill out. It sucks because I have a fair amount of the DtoEarth brand, but I find it not super helpful.

I use BioAGs myco mix. Before that I used the general gardening mix from Johnny's Seeds which is reasonably priced.

Do you feed them bro? They need carbs...

I use molasses but you can use all sorts of stuff like maple syrup or fresh fruit juice.

Take about 3 teaspoons (10-15ml) and mix it up in a 5gal bucket and feed the lil buggers

The only benefit you are getting from great white is trichoderma which overwhelms mycorrhizal fungi. If you want this effect just purchase trichoderma spores. $150 will last you the rest of your life.

I've heard anything from the RTI (xtreme gardening) guys is awesome.

Lots of friends using it with better inoculation speed/rate then great white and the Plant Success products they have been using previously...

symbios mycorrhizal inoculant I believe is what they're using. Think its being sold under "Pumpkin Pro" or something like that if not buying it in bulk.
RTI Granular Mykos in smaller quantities..

In 2006, Ron Wallace used RTI inoculants to break the world record at 1,502 lbs. In 2007 it was used by growers that produced 10 of the top 20 largest pumpkins in the world, including Joe Jutras new record breaking pumpkin at 1,689 lbs.
I believe it is the same spore MM mentioned - Glomus Intraradices

What about General Hydroponics Subculture B & M?

I know people that swear by this.

Are these worth it?

They sell Glomus Intraradices which they claim they grow themselves yet they told me that they check arbuscules and vesicles with a dissecting microscope....could be but that's a new one on me

Brands are meaningless. To the best of my knowledge, there is only one lab in North America producing consistently viable Intraradices spores and that is in Quebec.
