NC House committee kills medical marijuana bill

Try reading the article. Mecklenburg County is Charlotte.

Being published in a Raleigh news paper...

As I said. Asheville, Charlotte, Raleigh and little else..

That article doesn't say anything about where the people were who were polled. The paper being published in Raleigh is irrelevant. Thom Tillis is the speaker, which is why he was asked (and he's actually not in favor, if you read that correctly). He's also an Art Pope approved Republican.

I don't live in any of the places you mentioned, and I have many white conservative neighbors who would vote in favor.

Your conclusion isn't really logical.

Here's the data I'm looking at:

http://blog.norml.org/2013/01/16/two-southern-states-show-majority-support-for-medical-marijuana/

What data are you looking at?

I recall people WANTING it to pass. But no one I knew thought it was a done deal. And again, you can thank our Libertarian buddy Art Pope, who brought in a shitload of super PAC money to fight against it. See, that's liberty, just that you're not at liberty to marry whoever you want. But other than that, yeah. Liberty.

I think the question should be why won't they put it to a vote and see? Why won't most of them even state on the record where they stand?

Do you find it odd that all the pro marijuana information gets published in Raleigh? I find it odd that no city outside the most liberal ones actually advocate anything positive about allowing MMJ. Its because the support is restricted to such areas. If they published this stuff at the local paper levels there would be and outcry like you wouldn't believe. It most certainly would not be good either.

ok i read it... now you should read it.

where does it say poll responders were restricted the mecklenburg county?

it doesn't.

in fact, i offer this...

http://www.thedailychronic.net/2013...l-marijuana-bill-defeated-by-house-committee/

A statewide poll by Public Policy Polling, conducted in January 2013, reported that 58 percent of respondents approve of allowing for the medicinal use of marijuana.

Well, I think in most states the biggest news outlets are in the capitol. So no, I don't think the fact that the media is located in Raleigh makes that big of a difference. I don't know. I've lived other places.

I think if you would challenge some of the things you are sure are true, you might be surprised. It's not safe to assume that if a local newspaper published poll data that there would be an outcry. Like I said, I live in a very conservative area, and marijuana is freely available here. Some people turn up their noses at it. But as long as you're white they don't care. That's another story.

Lobbyists? Really? Like who, other than the citizens that showed up? And no, the physical location of the media outlet isn't that huge of a game changer. It just means that they have a bigger market, so can more afford to tell the truth even if the small minded fucks don't like it.

Are you a plant or a cop? Because you're definitely not pro-marijuana.

If North Carolina wanted MMJ legalization they would get it one way or another and the Legislature would mean nothing.. The fact is there are very few people who actually object to the way things are now. Would people like to see things changed well sure but it is no big wheel spinning hurry because it is not affecting them very much... If you want to see a Rise out of North Carolinians try raising the Income tax, Sales or Petrol tax... Some people have priorities other than Marijuana. To most Marijuana is an extra curricular activity much like drinking beer is... Its nice and fun to do but its not the end all. There are quite a few things that are magnitudes more important than getting high.

Don't worry I am quite sure that most of them were from Charlotte, Raleigh or Asheville.

Its the same tactics DC politicians use. They take a poll and say that this is what America wants because we asked in areas where our poll is supported.

Try finding a Poll that has nothing to do with NC nor is headquartered in Raleigh. I would event take a Cnn poll knowing it is liberal over one that is locally done by the same place the supporters of the polls question are.

You're not being careful. You are saying a bunch of dumb shit that you can't back up, and it's all pretty negative IMHO. So yeah, you read like a cop to me. They talk the kind of shit you talk, to intimidate stupid people.

If North Carolina wanted MMJ legalization they would get it one way or another and the Legislature would mean nothing..

So this shows that you don't understand how the legislature works here. We can't do a ballot initiative. We have to go through the legislature. I'd love to hear your idea of how we do an end run around that.

The fact is there are very few people who actually object to the way things are now.

Yeah, there is a stunning complacency and willingness to accept (and spread) bullshit around here. That's why I'm leaving.

We don't have that option here. It stuns me, how much people here accept being pushed around.

<3 Tesla

well that sucks... maybe you guys should push for a bill that allows for ballot initiatives?

then once that passes the legislature you can pass your own laws... IDK if that would work just an idea...

Peace,

That explains why mine minimize the use of sentence enhancers and try to convey the reality of the situation on the ground... Ironically you are using a poll conducted by a pro Marijuana group in pro Marijuana areas published by pro Marijuana Newpapers... Sounds like a Crutch to me.. If your poll meant anything it would be published in all the little papers where Supposedly it matters...
Why do you suppose no one else outside the sophomoric outrage laden areas seem to care? Is it because they are unenlightened or is it because they are enlightened?

Yeah, that would be awesome, but it's not going to happen. It's hard to even explain the insane wingnut power grab that has gone on here. Like they've got this placed locked down hard, even though it's a purple state at best.

Despite our little wacky friend's opinions, there are a lot of really highly educated and progressive minded people here. Unfortunately the good old boys have set it all up just how they like it.

For a more detailed understanding, check out the link above where I flipped my shit about Art Pope, or go to www.artpopeexposed.com. The extent of the scumbaggery here can't be easily explained, you kind of have to see it to believe it.

Seriously, I've made the decision to just leave and let them do what they're going to do. Mojo's attitude is actually pretty common around here, very hard to get things done in that atmosphere.

The really disturbing thing is how many people think this is a huge problem compared to all the others.. I do plant to leave also. The difference is I am going to ANOTHER COUNTRY! Not keeping all the same problems but changing locations Just so I can have MMJ... Screw that!

Hey congratulations on finding that thesaurus laying around. Eventually you can use it to write things that make sense.

Go forth in the world and prosper, good luck to you.

i see, you are one of those guys that want to create your own facts...

gotcha down.

just like a lot of SOCIAL conservatives i know. i constantly have to remind them they are entitled to their own opinions, but not their own facts.

based on population alone, the majority may in fact have been from urban areas, but the poll says STATEWIDE, so that does include the undereducated rural folks too.

look, i don't trust the govt at all. in fact if D.C. got wiped off the map, i would not lose a wink of sleep, but the fact remains that the majority of americans now accept MMJ as medicine. in fact an overwhelming amount (80%) accept that.

well that is, except for the DEA, Justice Dept, Congress and the executive branch. oh and the NIDA.

the FDA and AMA are on the our side.

take it easy man, i proved my point...

You will be amazed how unpopular your attitude will be in other countries, unless you go somewhere that has like a pro-US military dictatorship. They'll love you there. Godspeed, have a good trip.
