big plant ppk

this is a power veg chamber. i hope to achieve 36" plants in a 3 week period. i built this so i could return to a perpetual cycle of one plant per week. so i will have 3 positions here and 10 in the flower room.

i use a light schedule of 8 on, 4 off, 8 on, 4 off per 24 hour period.

i went to 5/8" garden hose tech here as it is all available locally at lowes or home depot.

the pump is a 950 mag drive.

it will flood all three plant containers in about 60 seconds.

the manifold has valves so i did not need them at the plant end.

the elbow at the pump will pick up down to 3/8".

the completed plant module. i used 1/2" cpvc for the pulse feed as it fits perfectly inside a 5/8" hose. the hose is "never kink" brand. of course they are lying bastards and you can kink it but it is hard to do. you want everything light proof to block algae. that's a standard 1" c-clamp.

the fittings connecting the sub-irrigation plumbing are 1/2" electrical through fittings. also from lowes. they thread into the hose tightly but i used hose clamps for security.

instead of glueing this time i used 1 1/2" hose clamps to hold both the tailpiece and the screen in place.

showing the reservoir side of the sub-irrigation plumbing. "carlon" brand through connectors. well made and come with a great o-ring. my cardboard leak checker is under them.

the bucket side. that's all you do to a bucket. drill one 7/8" hole. i remove the handles too but that's optional.

i included the last pic just to illustrate the "air gap" achieved by the "controlled water table". here i like about 3 inches but this level is adjustable by manipulating the float valve. this is sufficient to remove the "perched water table" from the "international rhizosphere".

i was looking at the second pic and just noticed the ladybug. it is alive! in february. it can only have come from the flower room via the ducts.

these tubs are from tractor supply but are made by "tuff stuff products" in la.

holes are 1.5". tailpieces are standard sink plumbing parts.

center your holes 4 5/8" from center in an equilateral triangle pattern. this keeps the top container centered in the bucket.

standard 3.5 gal bucket with a 7/8" hole.

the green air repeat cycle timer. analog. works great but a little difficult to use. the numbers on the face are apparently mere suggestions as you have to actually time each setting with a watch to get it right. repeat, adjust, repeat, so on until you get it right.

i use a sentinel drt-1 digital in the flower room. a much better piece of equipment.

a brute 44 outside of the room as a volume tank.

another tire valve fitting. a piece of latex tubing as a connector.

clamp is on-off valve.

the first plant. a beat up dope clone that i have neglected severely. let's see what happens to it. plant #1.

Cool stuff D9. I'm curious about why you're vegging vert though... Is it cause you want the plants to bush out, or you're a cheap bastard and don't want to buy a reflector? Or both? Lol

Hurry D9 Take Cover, Shit is about to Blow UP!

Saturation pulse and reflectix covers screwed me over this time. My plants are growing way too fast and relentlessly. (Could be worse I guess)

in all threads i have done here on icmag i have used 1k's vertical in veg.

i think it's important to train the plant to the light that it's going to be flowered under. both intensity and spectrum.

i'm still a cheap bastard!

damn, you're fast!

I've been sleeping in a tent on the sidewalk for 27 days, waiting for this show to open..

The line is 3 miles long for a ticket...

A+ on the lay out and pictures.
Glad ta see your doing the 8-4 light cycle. (Been curious about this)

Really dig the design of your build... Soild material/connections. Wide, dark hose (no clogs-leaks)
Stable platforms, clean grow/work space.. (could go on)

Ya just take it to another level-every time...

* As soon as I took my seat. I realized only 2 pages and more were likely. :hide:Really sorry about that..
2 am & I had waited 20+ days in the cold*

Peace...:alien:

Nice build. My first ppk crop isn't quite done flowering and the design has already improved and evolved. Good idea on the through fittings and hose. Looks like I will be updating already. Thanks for sharing you're ideas with the community.
