Wholesale pot prices plummet. Now there starting to get better

UPdate from my area. Indoor is still slow...donations are stable....but talking to my outdoor buddies....and they are busy......these same guys were slow last year at this time....they are not low ballers and wait for their price.....and they are getting it now....and this is higher than last year......they are saying demand is high......and expect to sell out faster than last year.......to me.... that is strange....they had a great year as far as yield, and way more product....and are going to sell out faster????? how the heck is that happening?

IDK......the market is the market.

can anyone explain that to me?

Jerry Garcia was actually known for prefering lower potency schwag over the stronger kind bud

Now I'm going to throw away my head stash and try to score some Mexi brick tonight :)

Um no! I have a interview of Jerry talking about pot with some deadheads and he had a lot to say about potency and the pot he loved. He actually said the most potent pot he had ever smoked was grown in Iowa. This was in like 1981.

Indoor can be tough in NorCal depending on who u know. I got 27 for some cherry pie. There's a lot if lowballers 24 or folks who are just doing outs right now. But my good broker is back and I got 32 for cherry pie and fire og with a 10 day wait on pay.

Where did you hear that Dank?
I would think with all the psychedelics he did he'd have had a High tolerance.
I love powerful smoke.

Weed tends to greatly intensify the effects of heroin, to the point of being "Too much"-- Jerry did a hell of a lot more heroin than he did LSD-- When I was a heroin addict, I smoked weed...but it was a fraction of what I smoke after I quit--:tiphat:

I was in Barnes and noble yesterday looking at weed mags and high times had a big article about prices being up this year for Cali compared to the last two years. They were speaking about outdoor for the most part though. They said 1500 has been the bottom besides a few that need money bad, whereas the last 2 years there were lots of 800 to 900 lbs. what this tells me is each year more and more of the newbs that jumped in to the "green rush" are moving back on to their life's work. And I say GOOD!!!

My 2 cents.

Outstanding Fall weather this year = Better product = better prices.

I don't see any "green rushers" moving away where I live... just blowing up more.

nows the time for "green rushers" with actual skill to start showing up...

cats who have been saving up and honing skills for years are gonna pick up the pieces of their buddies fails when they get home and finally make the trek.
luckily(or by design)cali wont get it as bad as CO and WA.
score one for the anti 19 crowd i guess but at what cost? who knows..
if i had not found my comfort level(with regards to legality)here in MI i would be looking west now.
there are lots of growers with decades of indoor experience in draconian states who have been itching for the right time to jump.
unlike gold this "rush" is best to jump into after the initial frenzy.
the greenhorns have blown their wads on setup costs and are just trying to recoup a portion of their investment.
some of them have bought houses and ruined them with shitty practices making them unsellable to anything but growers.
hell a cat with a bit of a nest egg and a high end skill set could really make out.

having a "nest egg" is so crucial to surviving right now....i know a handful of smaller growers (15-40 lights) who are struggling right now going month to month because prices are so low, costs still high as hell, etc...a few bad harvests or bad luck with rippers or bills piling up and before you know it you are underwater...almost everyone i know had a slow january to start 2013 including myself, i have some top shelf indoor OG that im holding out @ 28 for and i cannot find a buyer anywhere in norcal, i might have to drive to socal just to get 32, hard to sell OG @ 28 when there is so much other stuff around @ 22...people all want shit for as cheap as possible right now to snipe buyers from competition..

also know a few brokers who are hurting right now, margins are so squeezed locally, everybody is undercutting others to compete, im hearing of good quality indoor going for light dep prices in 10-20pk amounts, im talking 18-22 for really loud herb that would have fetched 32 a few years ago easily, 36-4k back in 2008...most growers are cutting out brokers and finding their own clientele right now, gotta handle both cultivation and distribution now to make the same they were 3 years ago...

it was a good year for outdoor yield and quality but prices are much lower compared to last year...just too much stuff floating around for cheap that just crashes the market for other things...right now would be a good time to stock up on those 12s and 13s because hopefully they will turn back into 16 and 18s in august..

last year it was super flooded in the winter/spring but the drought hit hard during the summer, clearly there is still strong demand out of state so once all the OD supply runs dry its gonna be a sellers market again (HOPEFULLY!)

the folks i know who are sitting pretty right now were smart, they made a killing the last few years when prices were high, saved that money and invested it into other things...they usually run much larger operations. the ones struggling are mostly the "mom and pop" growers, people still growing residential or doing smaller sized outdoor parcels are the ones who arent doing as good, and ones who DONT KNOW HOW TO HANDLE FINANCES, the guys who spent all their profits on partying and luxury spending... gotta go big or go home now to make it, and double up on your output to match the decrease in supply. also versatility, growing both indoor AND outdoor so your are cropping all year long is important too...

For the amount of work you have to put in to get what you used to, its easier to move back east find a warehouse to do indoor and make more money while doing less work and not have to risk shipping it. I see growers pouring out of cali in the next two years in favor of better market conditions.

To anyone thinking of moving back east to a non-MM state: don't do it. Here's what you can expect if you get busted. If it's a state charge, 10-20K just to get out on pre-trial release. Then if you are a first offender and plead guilty immediately, 3-5 years of parole.
Otherwise, they will hand you over to the Feds, who would just love to try you in front of a jury of church-going citizens. You will be overcharged and threatened with 40 years for crimes you never thought of. You will have to borrow money from your "friends" to pay an attorney. You may think you are a hard-ass, but 98% of these cases are settled by guilty pleas. You will end up testifying against your "friends", your assets will be confiscated, and if you agree to go through drug rehab in prison you might get by with serving less than 10 years.

Michigan seems to be where many people are congregating...MMJ laws, a police force preoccupied with all the ghetto ratchets, and easy distribution avenues to the dry states...

Rhode Island and maine also look interesting..

this is damn near spot on except for 99% of it is wrong...
we do have mmj laws(with strict plant limits and an AG actively seeking to undermine the law)
our police force is FAR from preoccupied. they have become the loot squad.
the common misconception is that the entire state is detroit.
most of this state is rural with cops with absolutely NOTHING to do.
easy distribution avenues you say?
we have exactly one interstate running through the bulk of this state.
one road for them to have to police.
at the end of that one road is America's hat.
that means not only do you have MI state police patrolling the only road but DEA,ATF and customs can routinely be seen tossing vehicles along 75.
or you could live down state...
the thing here is growing for your own patients and a small circle.
its the only way to avoid the armed gangs of robbers.

i always thought co would have a nice advantage over ca as far as access to the interior. probably that 2 year residency throws an anchor on any mad rush.
