There is no reason for fem seeds to have higher rates of intersex. This myth comes from a complete misunderstanding of the way fem seeds are made and of the nature of cannabis sex. Many varieties of cannabis learn towards monoecious tendencies, breeding them to be dioecious takes work. Fem seeds are properly made using cs, gib. acid or another substance to block the ethylene production and cause a female plant to put off male flowers. If a strongly female plant is chosen for this role there is no reason for rates of intersex to be high.

Wow! hard to believe people are selling seeds with hermi tendancies, I always thought that was a no no. I personally have been luck enough to never have a hermi, but I never use feminised seeds either.

I thought you could try everything to herm some plants but the strong ones wouldnt throw males.
I wouldnt expect every plant from seed to be bullet proof under stress though and I wouldnt hold that against a company... Unless its CC and I have issues with the beans I bought from them. Id be pissed too!

I read about the rumour OG Kush was the product of a self polinated femaile hermi, I thought I read a long time ago that some plants self pollinate in stressful situations for self preservation, The Idea being one or two seasons of unusual weather causing stress that sort of thing. Whatever the case I like this "Alpha" female Idea.

Actually sound like a start for an experiment, a complicated one from a hobbiest perspective. I will say though this hobby has come along way in 10 years.

There are some excellent reading articles here from DJ Short and some by TomHill that he must have been more sober than usual because they're good reads too. By strongly female I mean a plant that show's female flowers and doesn't intersex. If you were planning on making fem seeds the thing to do would be find a female who is very stable. Pick one that doesn't show traits of intersex, test it under stress such as light leaks, pests, temperature changes. We have a very human understanding of male and female and it just doesn't transition the same with plants. It's a lot simpler and a lot more complicated. We view stable sex as the mmost important quality, but that's only to growers looking for sinsemilla. There are growers such as DJ Short who believe the quality of high is more important than sexual stability.

No one actually knows the OG story, that's a fact. Any 'cut only' line in seed for is by necessity an S1. That could be a self pollination unintended, which is probably the case, and those plants could pass on its tendency to intersex. Breeders can however make stable S1s purposefully that don't have the issue.

To find the right breeding stock to use C.S on, to make fem seeds withouit hermi tendencies, you need to take like 100+ plants of the same genotype and do everything you can to stress them out and force them to hermi.
The 1 that wont hermi no matter what you do to her is the one you want to use for breeding or making fem seed. (This is what I read anyways)

ya alone.. uve heard correct.. its best to use the plants that dont hermi no mater what.. only being able to turn them with the use of CS.

but some people think and go and spray plants that havent hermied on THEM? while they were growing.... people need to stress the living fuck out of them.. instead of just growing out a harvest saying itdoesnt hermi . using CS to self it and make fem crosses.. then they find out later wen they are poppin the seeds that it had hermi tendencys that just werent shown during the time they were lookin at it..

but ya alone said it right.. u wana stress them to the max.. and see which one stays without nanners.. then spray that one and use..


lol. dna genetics are great. i will say that. a friend of mine grows there sour cream.. so i got a cut.. and i just popped some kandy kush x skunk and some og18 x skunk.. so im hoping for a male to make some new seeds.

Anyone grow out Kandykush x skunk or og18 x skunk.. ???????? which one would be the best for males.

the kushberry i grew had rock solid buds, didnt think it would yield that much but the buds were really dense. 1 of the kushberrys i got going at the moment seems og dom as shes stretched a lot yet another ive got is way more indica and has hardly stretched at all

I don't have any pictures and this might not help that much, but I just did a few sour creams last year.. at first, I was a little enamored with her, but it quickly wore off.. real wispy buds and it really needs 12 weeks or more.. this just doesnt fit into my program. It was decent smoke, just not quite what I was looking for.

What was the LA sour like? I bought 2 packs with not much info, but liked the sound of it.

LA Sour was crazy. Real strong taste and smell. Super solid nugs.

Fucked myself, killed mom before I harvested, was one of my best yielders and super dank smoke!!
