Dont eat it!!!!!Shit I already added it to my salad, and was about to juice some.

I guess I have never seen algae that "mature"... only as a green slime. This stuff has developed leaves, I will try to get a picture of it tomorrow.

Cover with gravel?

Thinning tomorrow.

Your sig is almost filling my whole screen lol, General PPK!

Got a growbro to this day that does ebb and flow buckets and bigger plants with increased numbers in "white" buckets that NEVER has rootrot issues , starts his cuts in rockwool cubes then straight into the hydroton filled buckets , and by the 3rd week under the big lights the complete top layers of all the buckets including the bigass rockwool cubes turn green as a gourd and algae filled.......and.....

He rocks that shit with no worries whatsoever HL......Don`t ask me how , I only know I gave up on dawgin his ass out about it yrs ago , and he`s still kickin with that nasty shit setup ghetto as hell and pullin gpw`s left and right EVERY run....but...

No input on that lil beast in your pics......anyways......Glad shit`s hoonin over your way my buddy.....Just remember to cull out the sucker branches off the main laterals with those big bitches and you`ll be golden once feed needs are met......

Many happy harveys to yas Bro..and...

Peace...Freds......:ying:.....

For whatever reason, I'm having a hard time copying pictures into this post, so I'm just going to use words for now.

Question: Your plants and yields look great, so you are doing something very right. Why change anything?

Answer: Because you can always do better...

There are no easy answers in general pruning questions. This, in my opinion, is the domain of the gardener, and where they gardener's skill, nature and style come into play.

That said, the general but not procedural guide that I use is: I want stuff getting to the canopy. In general, I want fresh air and light. And I want these things to be maximized.

In my observation, there is a non-linear relationship between light intensity and yield (specifically, flower density). For most of the strains I've worked with (and I've had the opportunity to work with a few), I pulled a disproportionate yield from the plants that were the closest too the bulbs (by which I mean a significantly higher GPW ratio). But in a single stack tree set up, there is a compromise between lamp proximity and light distribution. In fact, you've surprised me with the quantity of what appears to be well developed flowers top to bottom. This speaks well of both the grower and the genotype.

So this brings me in a round about way to my first point: Your current approach seems effective.

On page 44, you show the understory of your SDs. You can see the cleaned portions of the lower stems, being largely oriented vertically. From a conventional pruning perspective, these joints are at a high risk for splitting and pealing off the main stem. (In your case, they appear to be contained within the first ring of your tomato cages, so you gain support there.)

For this reason, I tend to train all of my main laterals towards a horizontal as part of 'reloading' a plant site in the flower room. I've done this any time from immediately through the first week of flower. It is strain and calendar dependent--how does this geno's secondaries respond to light (stretch (I'm usually looking for stretch) or stack?) and when do I have the time to tie these limbs into place.

Usually, it starts on day one, and stretches out through the first week. This reduces my daily work demands, and lets me see how the plant responds. I generally work bottom to top. And I generally remove all laterals that are about 60% smaller than the strong limbs, as regardless of training they rarely produce with most genos.

Looking at your next set of shots, I would be inclined to not defoliate first, but rather open the canopy up by pulling your laterals down. This will allow for more light and air penetration, without reducing your overall leaf surface area. But this is--like everything else--strain dependent.

I ran a number of lines that produced well with little to no leaf removal (just following the classic guidelines of removing damaged and discolored leaves as they appear). And, to make it more complicated: More leafy indica dom strains often get a heavier removal. This is as much for air flow, pest management (removal of egg sacks, getting my foliars to penetrate), and mold prevention as it is for possible developmental gains.

I'd love to walk the garden with you. Pics can only go so far.

I might say: Shit--I wouldn't touch a thing. Or I might say: Ah... a little bend here and a little tweak there and we've got 25% more canopy in premium light. And look how even the inner canopy moves with your air circulation fans. But I'm guessing you've got it together enough to start playing with it by yourself and paying attention to the plants response.

Long post.

Sorry

I'll end it by saying there are lots of gardeners who do not come close to hanging plants like that, regardless of the details. It shows that someone/some-people really fucking care, pay attention, and try to do shit right.

Much love was shared with those plants.

Much love.

Thanks for the responses.

I will do some side by sides this round.

Thin and defoliate vs not
puppetry vs not

SL, The bio bizz is still in the works at another location, just keeping things alive until my wallets ready. Not sure if I will document it here, but ill bring you by when its all set up. Everything is chilling under t5s. Not exactly sure on the layout but it looks like I will be setting up two 4'x8' beds and a couple 4plant5light rooms, then a great big veg area. Going to keep those all organic.

For the time being I am going to keep plugging away until I have the new ppk system built and reloaded. Gonna throw some orca up on the ceiling above the plants.

Much love and blessings everyone.

Looks like I found an additional space to grow in... ITS HUGE!! 4000sqft!
:woohoo:
Gotta iron out the details still...

Got 3 lines on Girl Scout Cookies.
Should have her by next week.. Gonna compare all three cuts to eachother..

I have a feeling one of the cuts is better than the others.

Live is good Life is great.:tiphat:

Finally got the room transplanted.
It took a bit longer than I expected.

Luckily the diatomite was easy to wash out...I mixed it with the rice hulls first then washed it out...shoulda done that ages ago..

I was worried about frying my plants after having them under a t5 for a long time. So, I picked up my handy light meter, turned it on and took some measurements in the room with all 8 of the 600s on.
Looks like I am in the clear.
After the plants start to perk up a bit I will turn on the 1ks, and lower the lights daily.

I realized to stay on schedule I need to build a veg system yesterday, I was going to veg at my house, but now I am thinking that I will do it at the new location since its about 30 miles closer....If i can build a veg system and have it running within a week I can probably have both rooms flowering by feb.

My crew and I are starting to get into the swing of things. Everyone is on board for an increased workload, we are all feeling good about the way things are going.

If your ever working with a partner or partners make sure you;
Have at least two dry erase boards
Have an xtra large monthly calender
Keep track of expenses, we just keep receipts and add them up,

Minifridges full of beer are a bonus and smoking together is a good way to keep things communal and fun.

On the dry erase boards we leave notes of things to do or things too look out for...here are some things I have written on the board..
"Refill res"
"sing to plants and tell them you love them"
" ph should be from 5.5-6.5"
"fill humidifier"
"dump run"
"grow team grow"
"bucket 7 drain line kinked and over flowed, be careful"

one of the boards has the layout of the space scaled down in one corner. This helps to plan and visualize. It also makes layout easier.

On the calender we keep track of what week we are in and what we did for that day
"refilled res @1.2"
"swept"
"cleaned out girls"

Sometimes I leave a punch list on the dry erase board and nothings been accomplished, then I go to the calender and see the someone has done alot of other tasks.
Things are still getting done, thats progress.

We have all butt heads at one point or another but we talk and work through it. I am the brains behind the operation but everything is a group discussion, however not always a group decision.
Greed and ego are two things that ruin "partner" grows. I have walked away and been screwed a number of times in the past. I have learned what to stay away from and what to gravitate towards.

I have offered other people amazing opportunities in the past. Prior to plunging into a project, I give them a few simple tests, and alot of people do not make the grade.

A test involves a situation that requires initiative and work ethic.
A situation where your true colors can be shown, your honesty or dishonesty exposed, and overall character revealed.

Address the situation with intellectual dexterity, its infant feces.

My next move is to get on a good schedule.
I get things done but I do feel I could manage my time more efficiently.

I have to plan carefully and execute said plan with precision.
This is no time for slacking or messing around...

"You must spread some reputation around before........"

Excellent post man. Proper planning and organization are crucial to a smooth running operation, especially when it's more than just yourself involved :tiphat:. Good tips on the calender and dry erase boards also.

You must be doing something right on your crew selections.

I've rarely encounter anyone willing to do the work and not cut too many corners--even in their own grow for their own benefit.

I still design and schedule for one man shows.

At least I know who fucked up.

Mad respect for keeping it together, and finding people that care about getting shit done.

That said to you HL, I say to the masses: Do not think that HL's ability to manage groups is the norm! Unless your life depends on it, do not partner up. And if you do, have plans B,C,D,E, and F in place for when it goes south! It is a dangerous thing to put your personal well being in the hands of another. Be independent. Depend on yourself.

Can yas vote twice ?.......Hell.....I`ll vote every day if it`ll win that big bitch 1st place.......and.......

As Ashes preached bout putting your life and livelihood at risk and in the hands of others , I categorically agree 1000% 1 man shows are the way , the truth , and the light.......but.....

We don`t live and grow in medville and I know it`s different out there.......or is it......theft of entire crop comes to mind before LEO involvement cuz loose lips sink ships , and the only folks I ever trusted with my setups was the guy that looked back at me in the mirror every mornin.......and again....

HL`s the exception to the rules guys , not the normal standard although all the big setups I know of indoors and out in medville have employees , along with major security to maintain honesty and integrity among the workers....Hell......

I`ve got 1 crazy ass mad scientist growbro that subs all his trimmin out to girls in bikini`s so they can`t walk away with anything after the jobs done except for what they`re compensated for said trimmin......

There`s a thread in Growers forum bout why partners never work and there`s some nightmare stories in it , but I respect anyone`s decision to use their best judgement in doing so with investors , partners , and employees.....Just stay safe Bro....that`s all I wish fer yas......

Anyways........HL fer El Presidente too Bobbles....

Peace....Freds........:ying:......
