Currently the system is designed to treat sick people... Not prevent them from getting sick. Your findings don't surprise me one bit. I don't think that they tell the whole story though... For example, there could be nutrition eduction prior to medical school. A lot of it is picked up during chemistry and Anatomy and Physiology. Pharmacology. Microbiology. I've only had 1 nutrition specific class, but many of my classes have related nutrition to body systems. I haven't been to med school. That's not to say that I don't agree with you, that 100% of med schools should have some specific nutrition training. Traditionally that's not been done because there's no money in teaching people to eat right. If they did that, you wouldn't have sick patients to treat. I think you'll see over the next 10-20yrs as the affordable care act is further implemented, there will be more incentive to teach people how to be well and take care of themselves, so that they don't end up with a chronic disease... Diet, exercise, lifestyle choices... Will all be areas of increased patient education. The idea is that the doctors will be paid for providing care as opposed to providing treatment... Get the patients in for yearly physicals, catch the high blood pressure and high cholesterol early, give them regular vaccinations... Nutrition education. These things are cheap. It's when people don't go to the doctor for 10-15 yrs and have advanced chronic disease that medicine becomes expensive... and the system currently exploits these sick people.

I need to stop there... My blood pressure is getting elevated...

As far as all doctors being nutitionists... I find that most doctors have basic nutrition backgrounds

not sure how it works in the USA, but in Aus they get 1/2 hour lecture on nutrition over the whole duration of the course.

but the trouble is getting the patient to follow the recommended diet.

also very true, as any dietician, nutritionist, natropath etc.

We framed up the drying room. Just needs some insulation.
There's a loft space over the entry way.
Probably will throw a mattress up there.
I layed down up there and could have fallen sleep, it was nice. Even the osb cuts down on the noise from the air conditioner significantly.

a major problem in the field of preventative medicine is that most doctors are specialists. they tend to view all problems from within the framework of their own specialty. if you have back pain and go to a surgeon you will get a surgical solution.

we need more general practitioners who are focused on prevention.

and basic education beginning in grade school.

dr barry sears, the author of the "zone" diet series, spent the first part of his career as a drug delivery expert for a major pharmaceutical company.

whenever they came out with a new drug people like him find the most efficient way to deliver and dose it. oral, anal, injected, patch, whatever.

he says that his experiences there caused him to believe that food was the single most powerful drug we take.

"you are only as good as your last meal" he says.

he examines the food industry and finds it seriously lacking in good choices. basically his advice is to balance your intake to 40% protein, 40% complex carbohydrates, and 20% fat.

he does not insist on types of protein as long as you get enough total, leaving the door open for vegetarianism.

when you do eat animal protein it should be in small portions and from a low fat source. i personally eat lots of fish with some chicken and turkey white meat only.

lots of whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables should make up the bulk of your carbs.

the fat portion should be made up almost exclusively of mono-unsaturated oils like olive, sunflower, safflower, and canola oils.

these are small molecule oils and are easier to process than large oils like corn, peanut, or mixed vegetable oils. and animal fat.

he further states that you must eat fat to lose fat. your body stores fat in the adipose tissue and needs a hormonal signal to release it. without a fat input the body tries to retain fat and fights losing it.

with an adequate supply of the correct fats the "bad" fat is released.

his diet is unique in that if you are obese you will lose weight without starvation and if you are thin for some reason you will gain weight.

he also outlines treatment responses to his diet involving many illnesses including cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure and many more.

but all diet is useless without physical training. the finest diet in the world is not going to help you if you do not help yourself. 1 hr of aerobics per day minimum.

the human body is designed to move. so is the mind. when you stop using them they atrophy.

this is where cannabis comes in for me. the cannabis helps my little aches and pains become more bearable so that i can be more active.

and stimulates my mental health by making my life full of love and understanding and positive thoughts.

therefore, aliens! no, therefore all cannabis use is medicinal and all cannabis use is recreational. i really don't see a dividing line between the types of use.

the law should reflect this.

Nice post D9. You're spot on. Personally I like to have multiple sources of protein, i.e. poultry, meat, fish... That way you know you're getting the full range of amino acids... but as long as you're eating enough carbohydrates your body should be able to synthesize the ones you aren't eating. Egg whites are about as complete a source of amino acids as you can get.

Thanks for the votes, apparently they don't start the official poll untill NEXT month... I think I still need nominations to make it to the actual poll. Thanks guys.

Started pulling down some of the plants. A bit early IMO. Patients need meds etc. Grobro was really gung ho about it...
We started with the smallest plants on the end. They might just be about 1 each. The rest of the girls will get another 4 days in the room at least, I won't pull them til they are ready. (hurry up ladies, I need to see some amber trichs please)

Here's a pic.

HL....Put on yer patience britches and pull them bitches when they`re ready and not before.......:moon:.......

Killer work and I`ll go add to the nomination as well......What strain/variety/hybrid is/was that purple plant......Blue Dream perhaps ?.......

Would`ve loved to have seen it before the tops had been cut out.......Got many oldhead hippie growbro`s on the left coast that take pride in their outdoor organic girls , and their plants that size in the pic regularly end up in the 10-12 lb range......

Good luck on Harvey Bro.....

Peace.....Freds.....:ying:......
