id stick to using hydroponic nutrients for the bucket. it looks like you could also stand to raise your light higher.

Yea pick up a hydroponic fertilizer like Pure Blend Pro, Flora Nova, etc. Im surprised the Schultz worked at all. Those plants could be easily saved by switching your nutrients right now.

Maxibloom. $15 for a 2.2lb bag and the nutrient profile is pretty dang close to perfect for cannabis. :)

Start your pH at 5.2 and let it drift up to 6.0 before dropping it back down to 5.2 again.

Keep your res temps below 69F

Keep reading. :D

If Shultz ferts are not liquid and designed for hydro, then problems will begin soon. If money is tight pick up a quart of Ionic grow for now, its only $15 and its a complete 1 part nute.

Uh... Maxibloom is $15 for 2.2lbs and is perfect for both veg and bloom.

Those K.I.S.S. and hempy threads are full of great info. Read them... then read them again. :D

Do a search for "Ask Lucas" on the net and read the entire thread... lots of great info on DWC there as well as res maintenance and the info behind the lucas formula/method. :)

Good call. I have GH Flora and use the Lucas formula, also doing a side by side with GH orgo line. But gallon to gallon of solution for DWC, Ionic is the cheapest.

have you considered Jack's Pro? by J.R.Peters?

it's a 2 part so you need the base hydro nute (5-12-26) and the calcium nitrate (15-0-0) but at $35.00 for a 25lb bag so $70.00 for the pair ($63.00 if you buy them together).

...if i remember correctly the shipping was $11.00 but i could be off on that.

...it was dubwise who told me about it and said he was glad he switched so i figured i'd give it a shot and i'm glad i did.

At 12$ a quart, you better be using 4 or 6ml tops for a gallon. Elsewise you'll not come close to Maxibloom in price.

I also know Maxibloom ($15) works in R/O water without cal/mag. Perhaps a pinch of epsom if you need it ($5).

That's $20 for almost 6 months of nutes with a 1000w light, more if you're doing a smaller or micro grow.

Interesting. Never really considered dry for recirc hydro. I looked at the label and it does have a nice profile. My question is, wouldn't make sense to buy the grow also? The bloom has a pretty heavy ratio of PK compared to N. But I do like the decent amounts of Ca, Mg, S and Fe. Sounds like a great solution for those on a budget. How's it for coco?

BTW I think the rates for Ionic are 5 ml/gal.

:party:Hmm,Well to each their own.I use general hydroponics flora,I use all 3 parts most of the time.If you are gonna go dro please do your self a favor and read, read, read and read some more.Make your decision and go with it.GH 3 pt is pretty simple, and the lucas formula is great if you can make it work for ya starting out.
I made the switch to dro dwc and never regretted it one bit.I wont ever go back to soil if I dont have to.I have nothing atm in soil,no mothers nothing,Im all dro all the way.
Both have their pros and cons, and dro ended up the better way for me.Thats when I switched over to Gh flora series in nutes.
Whatever your choice is I wish the best of luck.To each their own, live and let live.

Peace :)

It's balanced enough that I've run a res for almost 6 months without a changeout or any issues.

Tiny additions of the proper additives for your specific strains make lucas shine. It's like a great, solid-foundation of nutrition to work with. :)

The MaxiGrow is not as balanced and doesn't make for such nice, short, stocky, same-yielding plants as the bloom used in veg does. :)

Great!

That makes approximately 189 gallons.

Maxibloom makes 142 gallons when using the max 7g/gallon. Hrmmm... Ionic 'IS' cheaper, if the 5ml/gal is the max you'd use with cannabis. :) Wonder how long the bloom can run in a bloom res before imbalances show up? :)

While I agree with everything else you've said, I have to disagree about the Grow in veg. Yes, bloom will work just fine, but I have found that the Grow in veg produces closure nodes and more lush leaves.

Using Bloom for everything was IMO just trying to keep everything simple because it DOES work fine in veg. I still think Grow in veg produces a little better results.

Closer nodes? Uhhh... Ok.

Lusher leaves? Yes, a bit... but remember that 'soft' and 'dark' green leaves are 'not' a sign of health. They just look and feel really neat. :)

Everyone has different grow styles and if you're growing trees, you might want to consider using more nitrogen, like MaxiGrow uses. You'll need the longer spaces between internodes to assist with airflow during flower.

Yes, using Bloom nutes for vegging trees can lead to mold issues with short, thick, bushy plants.

Very true.. and my own finding could have been anecdotal too its hard to say really. I just remember liking how my particular plants grew.

However I may not be the best overall to give advice because I got away from the Maxi all together..

Good choice! Only downside is that you almost need a paint stirrer to ensure well mixed. Otherwise it really is a one stop shop. My buddy only uses flora nova and gets a little over an elbow off a 600 watt HPS.

spider mites attacked my plants

spider mites attacked my plants

I found spider mites on all of the plants. I used a bleach solution to DESTROY the bastards!!! The plants took a hit but are still alive
