you can also put them in a little bucket of water for temporary storage. i've used glasses of water before.

you don't even need to touch the dial.

when you want to put them back in the soil, just plop em back in, no adjustment necessary.

"You must spread some reputation around before giving it to heady blunts again"

That's a great tip heady :tiphat:

heady - sound advice! Reminds me of the awesome youtube video where they're demonstrating the concept, and stick it in a glass of water - stop drop.

But, I'm going to be tearing out the room for cleanout and upgrade after all are finished in here. So, in that sense, I don't mind having to ultimately reset the blumats.

(Add to that, I've been noticing a discomforting number of fungus gnats this time 'round, so the idea of standing water, .. Mmmmmmixnay) :tiphat:

Question for next time 'round, in re: blumats:

I'm going to be adding a second level of plants next run. As it is, it looks like at best, I'll be able to get the feed rez about 18" above the top level of plants - which is probably more like 8" above the top of the pots.

I'll be running the manifold/main line in a constant downward slope, so's to maintain gravitron.

a. Do any of y'all blumat experiencios expect this to fall short of needed pressure? Let's pretend we're talking about a net of 10-12" drop from the feed rez bulkhead to the first sensor.

2. Should I run the mainfold/main line all the way down the upper level, around the walls, and back down around to the lower level? OR just run the one length of manifold/main line, along the upper level, and from there, just run long drip lines to the sensors on the lower level?

me me me me... pick me pick me!

You'll have plenty of elevation. The top of the water level is what matters. If that's kept constant, pressure is kept constant.

Run your tubing between the levels... With some blumats going up and some going down. That way you can conserve tubing. It'll work just fine.

... *hands on hips* If you keep wiggling and squirming in your seat and thrusting your hand in the air, I'm certainly NOT going to call on you! :weakestli

Good call on the water level, vs. the tap level.

bobble, just curious about something. You upgraded your manifold tubing, right? Some flexzilla deal or something? .. Aside from easy-to-bend, what's the thought behind that? ..My sensors don't seem to have any issue, and even so, I feel like it all would come down to the feed line, which will be 3mm, per the sensors.

What else do you use that measuring stick for? I got the flexzilla b/c I bought the big boy box of blumats... And so i had to buy tubing, and everyone said the stock tubing sucks.... So i found flexzilla on sale and i jumped on it. This tubing doesn't kink.

Ha! Nice observation :tiphat:

Those are blumats that used to be in pots, but those plants have been harvested. Rather than remove the sensor entirely from the line, I just tightened the cap all the way down and let 'em hang out..

(The alternative, I suppose, is to take the sensor & the drip line off of the main 3/8" line, but then I'd still have to put a "stopper" of sorts on the barbed fitting where the drip line used to be.) The stopper would just need to be a small piece of drip line, tied in a knot on one end, .. But, rather than muck with all that, I'll just let the blumats hangout, closed all the way, 'til the whole room is empty. Cleanup all at once.. :artist:

somewhere....
theres a DIY post on ez disconnects for them blumats

Veg time - forget in terms of days, but everyone was ~ 16-20" when they went in.

Big stretchers - Nightmare Diesels about doubled, maybe a little more..

Why not just adjust and run "stretchers in the vert system. hmm not said correctly. cuz runnin bi level w some of the stumpies is a good idea.
somewhere is Prawns vert system in pdf form, ill look for it .....someday. he ran some stretchy strains, had nearly 4ft monster colas by the end, with minimal veg time too

I'm going to pay some attention & love to the environment a little more than I have been. Going to pump humidity during veg & stretch.been runnin closed rooms so long (before) pumping humidity weirds me out. arent u pretty humid in ur neck o da woods?

Going to upgrade the blumat rez to probably a 32 gal Brute or something larger than I've got now. These bitches be drankin' late in flower. Don't really realize it when you're hand watering (other than it's a pain in the ass), but they're guzzlin' down the juice now.
cool stat to learn

Will push more veg nutes at beginning of flower.. Going to be adding glacial rock dust to the mix.. A little more bone, some blood I think..
scratch high phos bat guans into the top soil and/or cover w another light layer of flower boosted soil to get a whole fresh layer of feeder roots up in there. are you bubblin any teas for this run? grow some beneficials to feed the soil?....

Next run will be a little different - all from seed, with the exception of one (or two) Nightmare Diesel #1s. :D

Prawns system was a 4x4 size box as I recall...drip feed/run to waste....raised floor w/ a hole in the middle for the run to waste hoses from the pots.
Also as I remember he was using a 600w-1kw vert lamp w/ a 12" circular fan blowing up on it for cooling...
Something similar to bongholio's Electric Cave...except Prawn used bare lamps & no cooltubes.
