How much to tip pizza delivery guy?

B

BrnCow

In the US, pizza places pay about $5 per hour and the tips make up the difference to about $12 - if the pizzas are selling - if the buyers are not fucking cheapskates. I did delivery before and I have had someone try and tip me 38 cents before. I jusy gave it back to the woman and told her she likely needed it more than I did...living in a $100k house in a nice neighborhood! Fucking cheapskates ruin the world as bad as rogue cops do! Thrifty is one thing but cheapskate is a mental illness!

TPIMP: I'm not in the UK i'm in Australia, the minimum wage here is just over $15/hr - the employer pays that. If somebody orders a pizza and it costs $20 they pay $20. They're more than welcome to pay the delivery driver a tip if they want, but he's already being paid for his service, and he probably had nothing to do with making the pizza anyway so you'd for somejust be paying for his amazing driving skills :) Anyway you're happy with giving away your money to people who've done bugger-all to get you your meal, so that's all that matters :))

i agree,, the employer pays their wages based on the number of pizzas he sells which is based on the quality of the pizzas/service,, i want to encourage that side of the business im dealing with if that makes any sense otherwise how do you know whether you tipping them gets you a better product apart from that they wont spit on your pizza or something lol,, tipping creates a fucked up overly complicated system imo anyway..

my lockal fastfood joint that delivers, is a kebab place, a kebab is like 10-12 if you pick it up, and thats fine. switzerland is to exspencive, but that they charge 25 to drive it up to where i live ten minutes away is just to much. And i quite frankly consider a big tip to be included.

Where I live what ive heard is that you have minimum wage and you make the rest from tips. So it's not like they are paying you a salary based on the work you did compared to what you are saying. And once again economical differences so i believe everyone is right based on where he or she comes from.

its just that is isnt clear cut, which is imo an unfair system where the buck is passed from the employer onto the customer, then allowing the staff to be screwed and blame the customer for it,,

the business should want a set standard of quality to promote their business so they should pay for it and not the customer,, otherwise its some sycophantic back scratching system, using money to sway influence and get a better deal, but that is the definition of america anyway so it fits nicely..

I guess in bigger countries with a bigger market food pollution is more common compared to smaller countries with smaller markets (and economies) because people in smaller countries wouldn't take such a "risk" as polluting peoples food (possibly jeopardizing their job). Food pollution is almost unheard of here. It just shows theres always pros and cons in both so living in a bigger country doesn't necessary mean its better than other countries. (most people in america think that). I guess not being clear cut would be good if more people were giving (given the fact that they dont charge 25 for a deliver 10 mins away :chin: )

hubble, you can tip the delivery person with initiation into cherubim knowledge; you can put your right-hand index finger in his/her forehead and energetically initiate them :yoinks:

I like to take good care of all people in the service industry. I'll throw the pizza guy $5-10.

But that's what the pizza itself costs, so you're basically paying twice the price, and your $5-10 is going to somebody who has done nothing other than drive the pizza to your place, and his employer has already paid him to do so!

I'm paying $10 for my pizza - you're paying $20, with the only difference being that you're paying $10 to the delivery guy who didn't even have anything to do in making the pizza ...

when I worked as a waiter at this fancy place, I got tipped 100 USD for making a prank-call from my cell-phone to a customer's friend. some people do know how to have fun. it was hilarious for us, and scary as fuck for the other guy. after 5 minutes of torture, I passed the phone to his friend and they had a good laugh.

Im tellin u dudes, pizza pollution is a big issue in this town

I find it hard to believe that this is a common problem in the UK. Probably just a problem for you, cuz you are known around town as a penny pinching tightwad who doesn't tip worth shit. If you started tipping better maybe you wouldn't have to eat others peoples spit on the reg.

A couple or 3 bucks + the change. If the bill is $16.85 you give him a 20 and he's happy.
Then you get great service in the future. I delivered pies for a few years in my youth.

haha...food pollution....too funny! Look...the only reason for spitting in someone's food is if they don't tip. You throw me $2.00...I can't do it. It's when you make me drive 20 miles for $1.38...or you plain out stiff me that you have to worry.

i hate to say it...but most of the customers who don't tip are Afro-American. Not just a stereotype.

Cheers

Yeah man, tipping is not very popular in EU and Australia (where u from right?), its more of a US thing

when I went to France the Parisians would bitch and moan about me not knowing french and their customs. Then when I would tip like a generous American they would shut the fuck up about it.

then I worked in the hotel and I would have French customers that wouldn't tip a penny. Luckily I had their room numbers and added 25 percent gratuity on their bill. tipping for them is an extra service so I took more...... that is a lie. I just didnt like them, and saw that they spent 100,000 grand plus there over the course of the season, and they had no business not tipping. Service in that place was so good it was choreographed. Always in the top ten 5 star hotels in the USA. You had to be extremely pro just to work there.

Everytime I go into IC chat the topic is weed but it ALWAYS quickly turns to food. I propose a forum section dedicated to and titled, MUNCHIES. There we can post up food porn and share recipes and the experiences of dialing in the proper spaghetti sauce. lol

Hahah bro your funny you do know that we do have that forum right??? Its called the munchie mansion or something like that... -=]
