Freds calls it "egg crate shit"... lol... It's in the lighting section at the HD. I wish I could be of more help. Just look for the fluorescent lighting and look around... Hopefully someone around here can be of more help.

Are you sure that caps pack has the met52 in it? I know that he posted about diping your roots in really hot water to get rid of root aphids. some other folks did it and it killed their plants.

I know he has a good mix but im not sure he has the same strain52 i am pretty sure the MET52 is a perticular kind. Its a specific strain of that species, also I have read that you want crab or shrimp meal to boost it... not a tea. its eats chitin in exoskeletons im pretty sure.

I'm certain it's the same species of fungus, so it has the same characteristics, but not the same variety you are correct. It will have the same effect. The tea is to germinate the spores. The shrimp meal will give the fungi something to eat after they've germinated.... But since this is a mix of fungi and bacteria.... Some colonies will outgrow others, and so some of the bacteria and fungi will die out and it will no longer be the same mix... So, i'm not trying to speed up the imbalance... And I'm going to be reapplying every 2 weeks anyway... those are my thoughts.

Thanks jonesb on the fluorescent light diffusers/egg crate shit that work well to allow proper drainage out from under smartpots/fabric containers sittin on pondliner or flat shelving to allow air root pruning underneath and keep shit from gettin soggy on the bottoms causing the possibility of anaerobic behavior in the rootzones......now....

Got a pm the other day at another place as well as here bout Chinese knockoff Blumats that were 1/2 price......

Anyone seen these thingy`s ?......and....it was said they were ceramic and suppossedly better made than the originals , but I thought the blumats are ceramic.....anyways...

Puttin it out there for a side by side on the knockoff`s versus the real deal to find out what`s what and if they`re a viable replacement and more economical for our lil hobby cuz they ARE expensive , but waaaay worth it in my book in the long run cuz they last indefinitely.....so....that said....

Anyone ?.....Bobbles ?...Mr D ?......

Peace....Freds.....

Saw somebody else ask about these the other day. I've never seen one in person, but from the picture they appear to be almost identical to the blumat jr's. Would have to look a lil closer, but if that's the case they are pretty much worthless to us. I know the orignals kick ass, but i'm a little skeptical about those knock offs. Even if they are principally the same as the tropf blumat, I doubt they are built to the same quality standard. Never know though, maybe they are better somehow.

If someone was to direct me to a link where I could purchase these chinese blumats... I would buy 12 and try them next to the real deal.

edit: a quick search got me hydrospike and cobraco products... which don't look nearly as nice as blumats, and close to the same price.

Yeah....haven`t done any searches cuz my dinosaur ass don`t know where ta look like you more well equipped browsers and tech guys but....

I told both guys that asked about em that German engineering`s hard ta beat.....Cuz I are 1...lol.....but again....

They both were screamin bout 1/2 price in bulk quantity and better quality made although ANYTHING from China makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up as bein better for cheaper....I`m just sayin ....

They`re out there and I`ll go pm my boys elsewhere and get a link so Vert-ville can do what they do....Break down and analyze......

Makes me proud ta have so many good minds in 1 spot....and....

Peace....Freds....:ying:......

Like D said... All the copies appear to be of the blumat jr. Jr's water through the cone. The tropf blumat controls the flow of nute solution through a tube. They're 2 different products. The tropf blumat is capable of delivering more nute solution than a jr... And what's the point of getting jr's if i have to use more than 1, and there's a higher chance of failure due to clogging... No gracias.

I'll keep paying for the higher quality product... And actually... I'm liking the idea of a cycle timer more and more... 10 second feeds every few hours during lights on... Send the runoff down the drain...

Have you used the tropf blumat? It's $4 when you buy 50, and covers up to a 10" diameter supposedly... But i'll be testing that in my 6x6x18 bags...

I'm not on the bluemat tip with you guys, but I'm definitely buying a cycle timer ASAP. Watering 4 times a day, I get runoff in about 30 seconds if I do a 20 second "on" cycle (manually plug in pumps, wait 20 seconds, unplug pumps) four times a day. I typically do a full 30 seconds the first watering of the day. If I had a cycle timer, I could do a heavier watering the first cycle of the day (to "prime" the medium) and then do multiple short interval bursts throughout the day.

From what I gathered from both pm`s Bobbles was these were the reg sized and maxi`s available in knockoff bulk quantity from the site , but neither have hit me back with the link so I`m still waitin......and....

Yas need the "Maxi`s" for the big smartpots to penetrate deeper into the rootzone of taller smartpots Mega.....but....how many yas need for each container will be determined by you from trial and error , cuz ain`t nuthin written in stone on density/porosity of medium used and what it takes for the blumats to keep feedin the plant as it needs it once dialed to a cling and hoonin....but....

There`ve been many problems mentioned elsewhere with multiple sensors per plantsite and potential runaway , but ....

If you`re thinkin outside , yas gotta factor in when it rains and dilutes your medium and rez if not covered , cuz blumats just release what`s in the rez as the medium dries out.....

No magic Mega....but...got Growbro`s in your neck of the woods usin blumats outside with upgrades and preventive measures if you`re interested.....

Peace....DHF....:ying:.....
