Long time no see dr bud

I built a ton of cfls back in the day with you in some old threads back back in the day.

trippy and sorry for the big D you went through, cheaper to keep em but they make you crazy enough to not care how much it costs to get em to go!

I'm sure you will figure a great cab grow out that will pull weight no problem and get you to your step two.

stay up brother!

Doc, welcome back. You have been a hero to me. Your style of growing makes so much sense.

Hypothetically, if I was to reverse engineer your cfl grow using the tidbits you shared from your hid days..... What do you think of using 2 4x4 tables side by side with a 400w hps and a 400w cmh in air cooled reflectors / 64 6x6inch pots / 4 cuts per pot in a perpetual bi-weekly harvest. I was thinking purple indica, AK, & big bud. Any guesses as to start heights? Will they behave the same as they did in the bottles?
Do you think I only need 4 feet for height? I'd love to stack them like your 7x14 rack.

Should I mix strains on the tables?
Can I use regular reflectors? I remember you mentioned having 7x7 reflectors... Should I attemt to make 4x4 diy lumenarcs?

I'd love to find your old high times article. What issue was that?

I know lots of questions.... Imagine being an Elvis impersonator then getting to speak to the king himself.
Thats how I feel right now.

Hey doc how old do you let seedlings get before you water them using your submersion method?

he grows from clones, and if im not mistaken they always get watered by submersion. if you've never seen it check out his first thread while you wait for this one to get going.

thanks sti, but what I meant was if you were growing from seed when would you start using the submersion method on your plants.

that's how he waters all the time, you would do it whenever you water your plants. all you're doing is putting the pots in water and letting them soak it up from the bottom instead of watering over the top. he only grows in cut off 20oz bottle so its prolly the equivalent of a beer cup by that time. and in my experience seedlings will fill a beer cup in no time. at the very least (some of) the roots have hit the bottom of the cup in one week, by the first watering.

So basically wait until they have a solid root structure before watering using this method. Thanks :)

how bout we just address your concern instead. i feel we are getting nowhere. its just a method to water a lot of plants at one time so he doesn't have to top water 30 individual soda bottles. nothing special about it. anyone can do it with any pot that contains holes in the bottom and dirt and plants in the top.

Hey Dr.Bud! Huge Fan! you're a whiz at micro! with all properly deserved due respect!

After following your first few posted grows on this site, I became obsessed with your mechanics! I am micro too! also, i'm fascinated by the "most-light-for-your-buck" style of vertical growing.
After realizing that both methods are the most efficient, I decided that I'd like to max out my efficiency!

My idea is to build a 4x4x6 wooden frame, then modify it to be able to house many small plants on 3 sides of the frame, so I'd have a Vertical SOG for clones on a perpetual basis, with 400w in the middle.

Now, I know that size-scale is sort of out of your "dojo" of micro growing, but I'd like to see if you had any ideas on how to maximize this new projects potential, or anyone for that matter. I wonder how many plants I can squeeze into the light foot print of the 400w. Nonetheless, it is an awesome experment I'm about to embark on!

Any advice on how to build it/set it up, space plants, or anything for that matter?
