Getting a Job

Google " Insurance inspector" and apply to all..... I work out of the house my own hours and schedule, average around 600-700wk part time.... I never see a co-worker. Normally have months worth of work lined up ahead of time. If I choose to work more I could but i got kids to take care of too.. Kinda like Mr. mom with a job..

get a dependable vehicle and a cheap camper trailer and get your shag ass out to the Williston ND oil fields, good hard work for very decent pay. plenty of urban hard asses w/police records out there for sure.

No. You can't call and hope they have/hold a job for you, show up ready to work and you will.

(Not that this necessarily applies in your situation)

I'm a huge believer in the fact that AMERICANS have this false sense that 'everybody NEEDS a college degree' which is complete and utter bullshit.

Obviously, those with higher intelligence / critical thinking skills / etc should get one and work in said industries, but there is some sort of 'social stigma' attached to being a tradesman / craftsman.

How old was the last plumber / appliance technicition that came to your place to fix something? I'd venture to guess they were approaching retirement age, and there is such a HUGE gap in these fields.

It is simply unfathomable to me why more parents do not encourage their (bright or not) children to pursue a life that isn't communications/marketing/advertising when they could be actually learning something HELPFUL and BENEFICIAL to society. Not to mention these jobs have plenty and are in constant demand?

I just don't get people sometimes. But then again, many don't get me either.

Apply for financial services at a bank.

A criminal record is a plus...

Less training for the bank to do.

Yea. Believe all this crap. I went to tech school to get a certificate saying I can build and repair computers. No job. Took and passed the network + certification. No job. Find the hardest, nastyst job and get good at it. Learn house wiring since your training for that already and put your game face on to become a contractor. They don't have applications for contractors so you don't get background checked as long as you stay low profile and don't go for contracts working on secure installations or nuclear power plants. Stick to small jobs like house wiring and light poles for trailers and such.

Applied to basically all the jobs I could think of in this area including some more fast food have a week left before my possible call back. Next week if I haven't received a call back by then I'll be applying to all major electrical companies in person hoping to get hired on as a helper.

Good luck in anybodies job search.

Been a long time since i had a job, and never filled applications online. Sorry :)

Yea, now they normally tell you straight up. "No phone calls" "No in-person applications accepted" My first jobs were in the good old days when you just walked up to the front desk and asked for an application. It's like winning the lottery lately when a person gets a call back and then the dance begins for how cheap they are going to try to get you to work for.

It's a tough world out there today for lots of folks.

:yeahthats Man up, drive out there, and be prepared to throw tongs, get dirty, and make a hand.

Williston is fucking bananas right now. Biggest problem is finding a place to stay if you aren't in a man camp. Be prepared to wait 45mins at McDonalds.

Im in the middle of my A+ certification. I crushed a disc and pinched a nerve in my back. Im pretty much hopeless now. Anyone got any ideas of what a cripple can do for work?

Network through friends and family as much as possible. Probably your best bet for finding people who'll hire in spite of background check issues, since they know who you are and that may mean more to them than a blemish on your record.

It can be a slow process, especially with the current economic situation in the US.

don't mean to sound insensitive, but you are on a website where you've got bona fide pros who are only too willing to teach you the ins and outs of one of the most lucrative trades still available to the american working class. i hope the irony of posting your job search woes here is not lost on you. it's sure as shit better than anything you'll learn at devry or lincoln tech, tuition is free, and there's no background check. just thought i'd mention that.

He's probably in a non-med state, and you're asking him to do something that may end up with another felony or two and maybe even a 3 strikes thing could kick in and screw him forever.
