Ever heard of Rustoleum Reflective Paint?

HERE is the direct link.

I believe it goes on clear to go over any color. I was thinking this over my 1-2-3 Primer painted flower chamber of my cab. I know there are very expensive industrial reflective paints but this is a much cheaper alternative.

Just wanted to know if anyone ever used this.

No never used it, dont need to either.
flat white paint works best, it spreads light evenly.
Reflective surfaces create "hot spots" which just produce more heat.
Good luck.

Although I am not familiar with the Rustoleum product, reflective paints are not particularly linear, or focusing in their refraction. I doubt hot spots would be a problem given the millions of points of entry and exit in a given square foot.

For solid walls and absolutely brilliant reflection try a reflective top coat. Search "Glass Bead/ Mica Reflective Paint".

This is the stuff that makes motorcycle helmets shine like a UFO. I’m planning on using it in a High-Pod adaptation.

spray paint is thin, runny and the mist goes everywhere..& doesn't cover very well

been there, done that

Does any flat white paint work? (By flat, I assume you mean matt and not eggshell?)

Is there any brand that appears to work better?

Thanks!

That's what we add to the paint to get it to glow... All the lines on roads in the states mix the beads with paint, that's what in it the paint to make it reflective.

The reason people paint their RV roofs with it. Besides being reflective it also insulates the top of the RV. NASA did a study on the whole thing. For spaceships not RV's

You don't need very much mixed in the paint so don't add it and make it chunky. Use a short nap roller or a foam roller works better.

Hope that helps... :tiphat:

Ok Folks,

Let me get this out of the way before I start the days tasks.

Thanks mule420. Good to know.

Spanishwilly. Europe, Here you go Compadre.

The Rustoleum and Krylon Reflect-A-Lite products are reported to be less than advertised. The clear reflective top coat has the best reviews.

Here’s an Instructables page on the subject of applying Retro Reflective Beads.

I know this would be a pain in larger room type applications. Keep in mind my project is an adaptation of the Grow-Pod. I expect to be building a hex or octo box rather than using a trash barrel, but one never knows.

Be Safe All
