I am pretty much in agreement with Noam Chomsky and his idea that grammar is etiquette and meaning/communication is much more important.

But I can't get over how many adults do not know the difference between these words. I taught fifth graders and they all knew the difference.

I actually saw a post that said, "Your stupid."

It doesn't bother me if you use the above words incorrectly, but I will judge you and feel inherently superior to you.

I'm no grammar expert but to vs too bothers me as well as the ones you mentioned. A vs an and who vs whom are ones that I can never keep straight and I probably use wrong most of the time. I'm sure there are others that I can't get right also but I can't think of them at the moment.

Gonna. That's a word I really hate mainly because my boy texts it to me all the time. It's really not that hard to type out "going to". I know it's picky but I cringe every time I see that word.

One of my grammar short falls is punctuation. Commas and what not.

Accidentally happens on occasion, but I don't think unreasonable to expect. It is only 8th grade English composition.

Of course it would annoy you,you were a teacher if I recall.I think it's particularly pecant when someone uses one incorrectly while calling someone stupid.Irony at it's finest.

Keeps me comin back

I hate when people dont have common sense a lot more than poor speling. If speling got me anywhere in life, i would learn. If you cant figure out what people are talking about from reading the sentences, i feel bad for you. You are a walking computer. I wonder how was jesus's spelling. I hope your spelling skills makes you wheel barrols of money. You probably hate money too.

A lot of 30somethings and younger are already heavily tainted. In a few more years we'll have college students showing up talking about r u cum 2nt w brice r wt?

I'm not really one to talk though, english/grammar was for girls as far as I was concerned, compared to math. :)

The one that infuriates me the most is the misuse of the reflexive pronoun "myself" when the speaker/writer means "me". In my experience, cops are the worst offenders; they think it makes them sound smart, but not to me. Example: "Larry and myself saw the perp..." So wrong; just go with "Larry and I" and sound as though you're educated.
Another is should of, could of. It's should have, could have. I don't cringe so much on forums unless the writer is snarky while at the same time making grammatical errors. That irony amuses me.

who cares what noam chomsky thinks though?

the guy is a proven idiot.

good spelling skills should be totally independent of that idiot's opinion.
