These plants should be fatter... but I had the mites... So they'll just have to do. I'm pretty sure it's gonna cover my light bill and rent.

So I was having wild temperature fluctuations in one of my rooms... I found the solution. putting the space heater in the room is no good, because the room is designed to suck heat right out of the top. I relocated the exhaust fan to the ceiling, and found it made no difference from being mounted at the top of a wall... the flower room remained cold, but the lung room got warmer with the exhaust on the wall, b/c I have 1/2 an insulated ceiling... However, it does push all the heat straight up to the roof with the exhaust on the ceiling, which I think will be beneficial in summer. Anyway, what I ended up doing was putting the space heater inside of the intake filter-humidifier box. I didn't have a water heater big enough to keep up with the cold temperatures, otherwise the radiator would have done the job as well. Just putting the space heater in front of the intake fan wasn't good enough. By enclosing the heater in a box so that all the air passed through it, I increased my room temp from 60F to 67F lights off. The space heater is on a timer so it only comes on during lights off. So now I can keep my lung room cooler, which keeps the lights on temps down. The square room runs 67F-78F, and I'm happy with that! The octagon is super steady on it's own... but the same trick to keep things warm at night makes it even better. This observation also leads me to believe that this is the most efficient way to cool a room, through the intake...

I'll snap some more pics soon... I've just been more focused on fixing the problems lately...

A while back I was telling LL I needed to overcome a few problems... and he turned around and said I'm gonna have to do more than overcome, I need to overtake... Well here I am today, about to overtake the plumbing... :wallbash: The power strip I had the heater on in the well pit tripped, and the pump froze... again... except this time it seems that the pipes are froze between the well and the house... FML... So I bought a heat gun, I did all sorts of crawling around trying to thaw pipes, but it wasn't the ones I could get to that were frozen... It look like if things don't thaw out over the next few days when it's above freezing, I'll be cutting the pipe at the well head, and redoing the plumbing into the house.

That wasn't the only thing to go wrong... A few days ago I flipped the rooms so that the octagon would run during the day, and the square room runs at night to better control the temperature... well right before I left, I remember I hadn't adjusted the timers for the water pumps.... So I did it right before I left, and the timer for the octagon never has the changes finalized, and it didn't go back to the clock on it's own like most timers I use do... So my plants haven't got water in 3 days... and it's showing on the 2nd from top level.

my strawDD, even though she's had a rough life, she's looking frosty...
picture.php

and then the USD room has been stunted with a drought in the first week, and cold temps... hopefully they rebound in the next 2 weeks... b/c right now my powerhouse sativa is short and squat.

USD- 2 weeks

So in my quest to warm up the pipes... I decided I would cut an access hole in the floor, to get to the crawl space... I figured it would be easier than crawling to where the pipes enter, and I could just drop a space heater in w/o 2 extension cords... What I found was 1 layer of OSB, and 2 layers of hard wood floor... :( which really sucks...
picture.php

because this is what I found under it... Mold. The floor joists are rotten in this 16x16 area of the house, where the roof is also sagging... All 3 layers of floor are going to have to come up if I keep this house... But I would say I have leverage for negotiating a settlement price. If I don't get it at the right price, I may be walking...

On a lighter note... Under the OSB, I found this really old newspaper... Check it out...

Anyone thinking I'm stroking my ego by sharing all of my bumps in the road should really get their head checked.. lol... I'm just filling in the space for all the dreamers... So they know what it could take to get where they want to go.

I've been keepin' my ears open for reports on how those trimmers work. Glad to hear they're working for you. Is there any way to estimate how much time you shaved off your clipping time since getting them?

Hey bobble that was still a decent harvest with them bugs... you seen mine -=\. But ill chime in on the trimmers alittle as bobble let me borrow them for a couple weeks.

They work very well on indicas... round shaped buds without alot of divets... on some my buddha(which i grow the most of) the way they grow the trimmers where actually useless.... so it reallydepends on what you grow... but for kush's and things they work wonderful and are very quick....

yeah, on my Sour Amnesias I wasn't really able to use them to get close... Too many foxtails.. but sativas have less leaves anyway... They're definitely a lot better on indicas. If you keep them clean, they'll cut clean right up to the bud.

you don't have to grow to realize trimming out and out sucks ass

Major props for what you're attempting here. Absentee growing isn't easy and takes alot of work to reach system equilibrium. And then the weather changes, lol. You'll get it dialed cause you got the work ethic.

I'm guessing from the description of your house that you bought a seasonal. Cause there are two major rules of water plumbing in Northern climates that are universal. No plumbing in crawlspaces and no plumbing in exterior walls. It's just too cold. The mold is most likely the result of previous pipe ruptures. Get some pex or a hose even and get that crawlspace plumbing shut off. It will save you tons of headaches. Is your well pump and plumbing really not below the frost line? Or is it freezing back from the house?

Document that mold. Take a shitload of pics. Then you can get yourself a respirator, a HEPA vac, and a scraper. Remove mold, wash surfaces, and then encapsulate with a pigmented shellac. The shellac will kill any mold you miss, no oxygen, and will remove the food source for future growth.

Good luck. Onward and upward. Whoever said growing was easy?

Yeah, it's definitely a seasonal house, b/c most people aren't around... It's really funny driving 20mins to the closest town to go to the store, b/c everyone looks bored out of their mind. I've heard more than once "I can't wait for summer to get here so things pick up." Of course the township treasurer was all "thing are slower paced around here, and we like it like that..." lol... After she told me they don't take credit cards when I went to pay my taxes.

Thanks for the tip on scraping off the mold. The thing is, it's a rather large area, my floor already isn't level, the walls are bowed out, and the roof is sagging. The mold is B-A-D It might be better to take a large saw, and cut the floor out sections at a time, and then build a new level floor, that I can then support the roof from. This 16x16 area was originally a cottage that they built onto the front back and side. The woman told me about the one time she didn't winterize, and her pipes froze... Anyway, I think you're right. She made it sound like I would be just fine as long as I kept heaters in the well pit... The problem is that as soon as the heaters aren't working, everything freezes. I mean it takes a matter of minutes.

Nothing is below the frost line. There's a pipe covered in cement running from the well pit, that I lift up a hatch on my deck to get to, running to the house, where I have to get in that nasty crawl space and climb pretty far back to get to it... So yeah, if I'm doing that again, it's gonna be with some PEX, and it probably won't take too long, cause I just need cold water to the kitchen and bathroom sinks, toilet, and 1 utility sink.

The good news is that the rest of the house isn't complete shit except for the bathroom... But man did I pick a winner... ha ha...

That's what I'm saying bro... If I can't get this place for $20k, I'm walking... $5k down, about $4k paid after a year of payments... $11k cash... I'm gonna keep growing for the next year or so, making my $350 a month payments and paying the utilities and taxes... and then if they don't take what I'm offering, they can have it back. I'm not going through mold remediation for the fun of it... Like you said, probably better to tear down.

Most definately the scrape and encapsulate is just a temp fix. The mold is real bad and since your growing it's just another potential issue. BTW, that is a pro technique I suggested. 100%. A remediation outfit would charge thousands to do that.

Sucks about the line from the pump to the house. Definately not meant for year round.

Don't know what type of disclosure laws where you are, but, that mold is something which certainly should have been disclosed. Guaranteed the previous owners knew about it. If you ever needed to, and asked around, the locals would know. That is why I suggested the documentation. Mold remediation is no joke.

Best bet probably to band aid it, use it, raze it. Then build a proper lake cottage. More $ in the long run.

To many cheap houses out there to be had. Don't waste time on a piece of crap. You can pick up something far better for cheap that makes remodeling a losing bet. Grow in it till it don't work and spend your time doing more productive things in the mean time. Get a sprayer and spray the mold to slow it down and maybe stop it, fix the pipes and do something better with your time. Far more money today in getting more Bobble racks running then in the remodel. And money buys the freedom to spend your time like you want doing what you want. Your growing is your ticket to the freedom you want in other wards. Leave the remodeling to the non growers for now.

Yeah I have an atomizer and Eagle20... I figured I would spray everything now while it's cold and growth is slowed...

Now, my only thought walking away from this house is that I will already have $9k invested in a year's time. The land itself is worth $20k, and I have a nice garage, and drain field... The owner isn't going to want the property back, so if I tell her that I'm offering $11k to buy the house/land, or I'm walking away and everything has already been gutted and the house is completely unlivable now that I've cut a hole in the floor to make the mold obvious...

So I mean what does it cost to raze a house and build from scratch? Cause I really don't know. Should I just plan on walking after I've made some money? I would feel kinda bad for tearing the house up and then walking, but holy shit... The mold should have been disclosed. I asked specifically if there was water damage, and I was told no, that everything had been cleaned up and fixed right. I took b-law... and yeah the mold totally breaks the contract.. but I don't need mold to break the contract... I just have to stop paying.

Tell ya what... The next place, I'm gonna be crawling around and poking at stuff now that I have lots of ideas for some of the dumb things people do...
